How Do DLC Paints Work?

I'm purely speculating here but...
All the DLC paints are called GT something rather than being associated to a car manufacturer.
Could is possibly be that they're adding a GT paint shop to the GT Auto section?
Then the DLC would just be giving you 100 free paints that someone else might be able to buy or receive as the daily log in bonus.

No, I think you have to download the DLC to unlock the paint for use.

Look at how Polyphony have acted so far with GT5, I can't see them being 'nice' and letting us have each paint chip being able to be used indefinately.

IMO they SHOULD do, this is what other games allow as standard, not at extra cost, so why the hell should we be paying for things like special colour chrome when other games provide an unlimited supply of this as standard.

Just Polyphony being greedy and having their heads up their butts IMO, like with the Chrome line and Stealth cars - if I want to give one to a friend that's MY business, I paid for them, Polyphony have got their money either way, why should it matter to them?

I'd love an unlimited supply of the 100 DLC paints, IMO we SHOULD have an unlimited supply - but in reality, looking at Polyphony and what they've done since GT5 release - no chance.

Just look at the cars for DLC - repainted and modded premium cars, mostly Japanese and mostly what we've got already - crazy, but hey, that's Polyphony and their amazing ability to NOT understand their customers.

Like the Shulze R35 and a R35 Touring in the first DLC pack, V2.0 update - how many people have said we've got enough Skylines already, what car was the 'most wanted' (E30 M3 BMW) - this proves common sense and what's 'right' is no where near Polyphony's agenda, so the chances of these 100 DLC paints being unlimited, NO CHANCE.

However, I'd love Polyphony to prove me wrong, some of those DLC paints are awesome.

Crying much? The reason the Chromeline and Stealth cars are and should be exclusive to the ones who bought the collector/signature edition of the game. If you could gift them, they would be dupped like crazy, so everyone would have them. And just because you don't like japanese cars, doesn't mean others don't.

I would say that you get one of each and when it's gone its gone. But if you do get unlimited use, without having to dupe them, then I will have a fleet of 1,000 fluorescent pink and yellow cars.

Nice

:):)

A little off topic but still about the new dlc... Do you guys think that we will get the cars in our garage upon paying cash for the download or have to pay in game credits on top of the download fees? I feel they should just be in our garage and not have to buy them twice.

Since there are already DLC cars, I imagine someone knows how this works.

I'd rather have them appear in the new car dealerships so I can purchase more than one of each if I want them. I agree, they should be pretty cheap Cr. wise, but with the B-Spec remote races and seasonal spigots, my wallet rarely drops below 14M Cr (at 19.8M at the moment).

I really don't think PD has ever even heard of an MMO. There are plenty of them out there with spigot/drain economies that they could've studied.

QFT. Slash, you have just failed to grasp common sense.

With any normal company, one could safely assume that you could use the paint more than once. This is PD. This is the second version of the fifth iteration of the same game. There are entire threads filled with the tiny stupid things wrong with this game. It is safe to assume that one can't assume with PD.

Yup, we all know what happens when you assume. :sly:

This is the only real question I have about any of the DLCs.
Some of those paints look awesome and I'd love to ruin a perfectly good car with the ones that don't. But I want to know if I'll be able to keep ruining perfectly good cars or will I be shut down prematurely.

Was wondering the same thing. We'll find out in a little more than four days.

Anything until then is just speculations. Here's mine: 100 paint chips for a one off use. Also, the DLC can only be installed once (i.e. You can't have two copies if it installed at the same time).

My take: Reality: just 1x100 paint chips. Single use. Yeah thats PD! :)
Hoping: we will get 10 (or more) paint chips of each (10x100)
Best: we can paint a single DLC paint chip one time per day 👍

Perfect: We can Paint a single DLC paint chip one time per day; If not used it's saved.

100 paints is going to cost $1.99, so ~2c each - I reckon thats a one time use price...

It would be cool if you could actually decide which ones you want and buy them individually. I must have 200 generic dark colors in my paint collection, and I would scroll through 100 paints to find the 10 most flashy ones and buy them individually........
What are the chances? Someone do the math.

Once you download DLC, it can be re-downloaded again from the PSN Store without paying for it, so I'd assume once you used all the new paint chips, you could just re-download it and get them again..

Yes I'll admit, I did assume, but the assumption was based on the other DLC that has been released and fact from other games. So it is likely that my assumption would indeed be correct. I'm not saying it will be, but there is an 95% chance I'll be right.

Is that how cars work now? If you have one of the DLC codes from one of the box sets, you can download that car twice?

If so, then I take that as a good sign.

Technically you could, but you could have it in the game once at a time, for example, if you were to download the stealth cars, you would get one of each car once and that's it, you couldn't gain more by downloading them again. However if you sell(delete) then you can re-download them and get them back again. I hope that makes sense:p

I think, when you buy the DLC and get the paints. I think once you use it, thats it, but then in the Dealership there will be an extra dealer called DLC, or maybe in the GT life screen there will be a DLC icon in which you go into it and you use GT5 credits to re-download them, so if you want another pink chrome that you just used on your Audi R8 and your like, thats mad, i wish i could do it to the Pagani Zonda R, you go to dealership, look for DLC, and re buy the paints, 1000cr for each paint and you can choose a number, like 10, 15, etc.
maybe?

i dont going to buy the colors or suits... im not mad oO
at the end you can send them like normal colors/suits and dupe this sh***
would be really funny if some1 pays and other dupe it all over the world...

normaly we should du exact this... to give back fire to PD cause of the really dissapointing DLC (spa is cool but rest is far away from cool)

Normally when you buy DLC its done accessing the playstation shopping area or submitting codes, this way has {correct me if im wrong] allways allowed the stuff you have downloaded to be accsessible on all accounts on that machine.
Now I see that this new DLC is accsessible through the game itself when looged in so I would'nt be surprised if the DLC might be locked to the user that has made the purchase.
Also IMO this DLC will behave in the same manor as chromelines and stealths and wont be able to be duped unfortunately.
