Great race today 👍 I'll consider it a very good day anytime I finish in front of NEPALII (which won't be very often). Battled with him from pretty much lap 2 to lap 35. Here's my extended race log:

I started 6th after a poor qualifying effort. I didn't do bad on my first stint with full fuel, but in the 2nd stint with light fuel I managed to mess up every single lap and ended up with a 1'28.28 as my best lap. Not bad, but should have been 1'28 flat with lower fuel.

On the start I got bogged down in 2nd and dropped from 6th to 8th. Looks like the guys up front tried to go four wide into turn 4 and King and Terrible had contact sending King off into the dirt putting me in 7th. I passed ekke to the inside of turn 6 and settled in behind TJ and Nepalii in 6th.

TJ and Nepalii battled for position for the next couple laps and I managed to split them and pass both with draft assist at the end of lap 3. TJ fought back for a moment, but went off track wide into turn 1 on lap four and left Nepalii and I to battle it out for 4th.

Nepalii and I caught Hydro under draft at the end of lap 5 and I passed Hydro at the start of lap 6. Lap 5 was my fastest of the race with draft assist from hydro @ 1'27.853. Hydro split Nepalii and I and it took most of the lap for Nepalii to get by which enabled me to get enough of a gap to keep Nepalii out of the "strength" of my slipstream and also I started catching the slipstream of terrible (2 seconds back at the line) by the start of lap 7.

I passed terrible under draft (@180 mph) at the end of Lap 8 and moved into 2nd on Lap 9. Terrible fought back hard most of lap 9 and stayed on my bumper, but I had a great exit and launch from the final corner which allowed me to hold 2nd until turn 1. Laps 10 and 11 were repeats where I'd create a gap on terrible and he'd be back on my bumper by the end of the straight into turn 1 with Nepalii 3 seconds behind.

Lap 12 terrible got loose on turn 4 and allowed me to get away and allowed Nepalii to close on him. Nepalii passed terrible on the final straight and took 3rd about 4.5 seconds behind me. I think terrible pitted at this point as well.

The next five laps I drove on my own and just tried to keep Nepalli out of my slipstream. I was losing about 0.25-0.50 per lap to him, but the gap was just large enough so that he didn't get my slipstream before he pitted on Lap 17.

I pitted a lap later after lap 18 from 2nd, but had some issues exiting as Hydro came to the barrier of turn 1 from his lap at the exact moment I got there so I had to yield and came to almost a complete stop and came out in 5th. Lost a good amount of time there and Nepalii slid in right behind me. I lost time that lap to Hydro on my cold tires and Nepalii closed in on my bumper by the end of lap 19.

Nepalii passed me on lap 20 and I fell back to 6th. We exchanged positions back and forth for a couple laps (21-22) as we closed the gap to Hydro. Nepalii got by Hydro on turn 1 of Lap 23 and it took me the entire lap to pass as Hydro dove into pits. Leaving Nepalii in 2nd and me in 3rd about 2.5 seconds behind at the start of lap 24. Over the next few laps I trimmed the gap to 1.4 seconds until I spun into the grass on sector 3 of lap 28. At the line of lap 23 I was 4.4 seconds behind and figured I blew my shot at 2nd.

However the gap back to 4th was very large (33+ secs) so there wasn't much to lose in going for it so I pushed hard. I think Nepalii made a few minor mistakes and I gained 1.8 seconds back on lap 29. I gained another 1.1 seconds on lap 30 and got into his slipstream 1.6 secs back so at that point I knew I had the speed and track position to take 2nd over the final 5 laps.

I took 2nd position from Nepalii under draft at the start of lap 33 and held him off for the entire lap and into turn 1 of lap 34. Nepalii overtook me in T2 of lap 34. I retook 2nd in a side by side drag race going over the line to start the final lap 35. I had a little more momentum and got the inside line for turn 1 and kept the lead. Nepalii pressured me big time the entire lap and was on my rear bumper going into the final couple turns.

At that point I figured Nepalii had the better position and would draft pass me going to the finish line so I decided to go for broke on the final turn and try to launch to the finish and hit power as soon as I dare. I nailed it pretty well and stayed way to the inside coming down the straight. Nepalii also got a good exit and was closing fast as we neared the finish. But my lead was just enough to hold him off by a car length at the line.

A gap of 0.128 at the line after 53 minutes of racing! Fun stuff. 👍

Here's the fast forward replay of the leaderboard so you can analyze your own race:

Thanks. I felt better prepared for Laguna and didn't capitalize there due to a first lap accident so I'm glad to finally get a podium finish. I really don't care for this track much, but it actually made for a nice race. Better than I thought. I prefer a track to have elevation change and interesting corners... like spa!!! But the long straight here and tight infield wasn't as bad for racing as it was for practice (boring). Let's hope Daytona next week turns out the same. Would have been fun to be closer to Dragon at the end of Lap 1... I couldn't have kept up with him split for split, but with the draft maybe I could have made it interesting.

I'm glad we set slipstream to weak... it was plenty strong as it was. Don't you guys think?

I also must say *all* the drivers who have been in this series since week one have definitely improved. The starts are not perfect by any means, but at least we don't have 3/4 of the cars with damage after turn 1 and off track. I know King probably isn't too pleased with the start today, but looking at the video it looks like there were just too many cars going into a single turn with too little room. Probably a good thing I got a bad start and wasn't involved in any of that this week.

I'm going to post a video highlight clip later tonight after it encodes and uploads. If you raced near me (passed or got passed) you'll be in the video, plus everyone is in the start. Unfortunately, I don't have time to go through and change views for every driver and try to get critical moments for each driver so I just let it capture the entire race unattended from exterior view of my car and then I trimmed any part that didn't have passes or close racing.

There are good shots of Nepalii, TJ, Terrible, Hydro (and myself of course :sly:). I never got close enough to the rest of you (including Dragon) to get shots other than the start and first few turns.

No problem WRP , good to see you up there . 👍

Slipstream is bang on perfect on low . Way more realistic in my opinion.

My starts tend to be good , i've made up places at every race so far if I remember correctly . Once everybody's settled into a rhythm it seems to settle down a bit I think.

I agree with everything else that you said there , & i'm looking forward to seeing your video . :)👍

Here's the video:

P'd I missed out, sounds like it was an awesome race...Who got pole and what was the time?

Dragon won pole (no surprise) with a 1'27.8XX I think. There were quite a few drivers pretty close in time because I ran a 1'28.2XX and started 6th.

I've got the video up above. A lot of close and clean racing was my experience. I'm really glad Nepalii chose to join the series. Between KK, Dragon and Nepalii it's going to be an accomplishment for any of the rest of us just to make the podium. It's still my goal to pull off one win this year, but I've got to figure out how to quali on pole and take corner 1 without giving up 2-3 positions.

Gamesta... have you made a call on spa for the series yet? If so, update the OP so we all know where you've decided to place it... Considering we took the week off last week and pushed the season forward there's a good chance the final race (or two if we add spa) will now run over into ski season and I'll miss the last event or two depending on snow and schedules.

I'd hate to miss the spa event so if there is any chance of inserting it before Monza or earlier that would be just awesome. Maybe we can add it while it's fresh and insert Spa right after Daytona Road on Nov 6th or the next week on Nov 13th? I'm sure people will want to run it shortly after buying it so doing it sooner rather than later would be cool. Pretty Please. :sly:

great video wrp thx for sharing. looked like you had your hands full with nepalli and others.

+1 👍

The drivers list on the OP needs an update Gamesta .

Hamster1984 is driving 2 cars , Ohnoitsmeagain81 & Karolisnaste left us & does TEAMRAD_PITT still want to race with us ?

Thanks for the videos WRP.
Think i need to put in a little more practice for this weekend. But overall a good race, had a little problems driving the Nsx with worn tires.
Had a incident with Gamesta on lap 1.
On lap 2 i bumped in to Brettcee. Little late on the break =(

I tend to drive slow, I probably was breaking way too early and surprised you.:dunce:

Updated the OP Thanks TJ I totally missed that.

Sorry for the bump on Sunday Ekke I wasn't sure if you were going to Over or Understeer and I chose the wrong way into the turn r and ended up touching your back left quarter panel.

The NSX is just plain hard to drive. The fastest guys can make them sing on certain tracks as they accelerate like demons, but you are at a bit if a disadvantage on many tracks versus the GT-Rs which seem to handle better.

No problem mate . Hopefully we will get back to a full grid soon . 👍

I agree . The NSX is a tricky car to master . The SC430 is incredibly stable & balanced & the GTR's chassis is the best overall.

That was a fun race guys :)
Too bad I couldn't hold it together for the entire race.
Woke up late, and never really found a good groove.

Quali was fun, I was up .2 on Dragon's time at T1, then finished the lap just behind him :(
Catching turn 1 in that course can really change the outcome of a lap.

Had some good runs with WRP001, TJC, Terrible, and Nepalli, but with poor concentration, comes poor consistency.
On lap 26 ish, I was literally saying to myself "Ok, I can catch Terrible if I keep it together" then proceeded to slam into the turn 1 tire wall :dunce:
Tj was right behind me - it must have looked awesome.

Dragon, and everyone for that matter, my apologies for turn 1 silliness.
My first start with the GT-R, and I blow the first corner, then went into "online race courtesy mode" and let Dragon back into his spot.
As well intentioned as it was, not entirely appropriate. Hope it didn't mees up the start for too many guys 👍

Brettcee, you must have thought I was being a jerk at the end.
You allowed me to pass in the final chicane, and I wound up losing control, ramming/blocking you at the finish line.
What actually happened is I was 1/2 way out of my chair, and dying to get to the washroom (since lap 13 or something) when I realized I got up too soon, and didn't actually cross the finish line.
My recovery, for what it's worth, was a bit late.
Sorry mate 👍

Great vid WRP!
One hell of a battle with Nepalli, great fun to watch 👍
And good to see Spa in the mix now 👍

Now if only I could switch to my Supra, all would be perfect

I might have blurted out a bad word or two  I was so excited that I didn't get timed out of finishing the race, when I hit you I didn't think I was going to make it!

It was great to run with you man , close , clean & fun . 👍
I was very surprised actually when that happened . I tried to capitalise & pull out a decent gap but you managed to reel me back in & overtake . :)

7 laps from the end I needed to run to the WC too , but struggled on the best I could....:O:lol:

And yes !! Supras for everyone !! Gimme my Supra or i'll cry & leave the room ! Wahhh ..

Gamesta - Is it possible to have confirmation of the exact pit entry for Daytona ? All I see is just a long unbroken line .... We are using the very narrow exit as I remember , so for anyone unsure of the exit just keep driving left . Hopefully nobody will " Forget " and just rejoin onto the track .

 Again, my bad... stupid mistake really.
I thew out a pretty loud WTF myself? Then: "Oh 🤬, 🤬 it's still going, 🤬 Reverse dammit! 🤬.......🤬"
I have some crazy fast friends I run with from time to time, and my only real goal in the race is to beat the countdown timer (I've never made it yet :sly: - CRAZY fast), so I totally understand where you are coming from.

I took some Pit lane pics for a different series that explain the Daytona Pit lane in detail.
I'll post them in a bit. 👍

Here they are:
I'll just edit them out if Gamesta wants, but for now, they pretty much tell the story, except for the Pit entry speed limit point.
It's virtually impossible to speed out of the pit lane.

Here's the Daytona Road Pit details:
As demonstrated by my No.1 Bob - A. Ventura.

The entrance to the Pit Lane is marked by a thick Yellow Line.
Stay to the left of this line.
You should already be inside the thin yellow line, indicating to the other drivers your intention to pit. (Ace doesn't like rules :D)
RoadCourse-DaytonaPitLimit.jpg

As you follow the line, keeping to the left, the automated pit starts here:
RoadCourse-Daytona_1.jpg

After your pit stop, you will still be in auotmated mode until this point.
As before, stay to the left of the thick Yellow Line.
RoadCourse-Daytona_2.jpg

This is where you take control of your car again.
You need to take the route indicated by the Green Arrows, again staying left of the Yellow Line.
RoadCourse-Daytona_3copy.jpg

This is the point where you have to choose your exit route.
Do not use the exit lane to the right.
The proper exit to the Daytona Road course is the left exit lane shown with a Green Arrow.
RoadCourse-Daytona_4.jpg

Then follow the narrow road around to the left.
Be careful, avoiding contact with the wall requires a very slow speed through the turn, and you will be on cold tires.
RoadCourse-Daytona_5.jpg

When you enter the track to practice, you have to exit the pit anyway, so really your first practice at exiting the pit will be the first thing you do 👍

Thank you! :O (man singing) "Have I told you lately that I... like this series." (add your own slow music).

👍 I'm sure that helps Gamesta who in his own words said that a picture is worth a 1,000 words.

Only thing you forgot is to put our 3D3 logo on the pics so if other series pirate them you/we get the credit :sly:

Still waiting on the photobucket refresh... should be soon

Great pictures Hydro , this will help everyone . 👍

I'm presuming that we need to be slowed down to 100mph before we reach the Solid Yellow Line
Gamesta ? Is that correct?

This Is exactly how pit works at Daytona and yes you must be at 100mph at the start of the thick yellow line.

Affirmative . 👍

just ran like 10 laps at daytona, one mistake in one turn seems to cost you alot on this big track. my best lap so far was a 1.43.5xx with 1.43.8s being pretty dang consistent, not too worried about tire wear here. not sure how much we'll be drafting together so unsure as to up my top speed for the draft or not.

everyone on vacation? hope team nismo has been practicing

No sir , just giving everyone else a chance to post on the thread lol .
Last time I checked , I had seemed to have gained the highest post count here .
How that happened , i've no idea..... :)

Did a test for Daytona & posted a low 1.44. , so thats not too bad .
Next test for me will be tomorrow , just to fine tune a little & practice pit entrance speed limit.

.

that shows you are the most commited driver to the series, or should we look into all the detail of all postings haha

also good lap in that lexus, guess i need to run some more laps to get faster without burning my tires up for the one stop race.
