The Best I think we can do is switch Sarthe and Spa around on the calendar if everyone is ok with this.

In that case keep Spa where it is...Thanks anyway...

Yah we've got to out qualify dragon to have a shot. Give him another taste of "Tj on his slipstream"... That seems like the best way to slow him down (see Suzuka). When he gets out front in clean air he's hard to catch.

 👍

Did someone say " TJ " & " Slipstream " ? Hehe .

I tried that at Indy with yourself & Nepalli & had a suspicious brake failure . Very odd as I braked slightly before you & slightly later than him , and yet my car went sailing on . Weirdest accident ever .....

This weekend though , i'm hoping to be competitive again . And i'll try to hold on to you really quick guys .

Dragon's slipstream is always my best friend .... ;)

* Edit * - Welcome to the new guys to the series too . 👍

Make yourself acquainted with the rules on the OP before tomorrows race too .
The most important ones are driving cleanly , 100 mph speed limit in & out of the pits & no trash talking the host or other players . All race incidents are to be PM'd to Gamesta after the race is finished . And typing during the real race is highly frowned upon . :)👍

Nice to be able to help ya so much with that TJ haha. and remember to new members, its a 35 lap race so don't drive like its the last lap on the first lap:dunce:

👍 x 10

I'll be testing at Daytona for a bit if anyone wants to jump in.

Edit - I'm done testing, mostly because I'm getting Dc'd from the servers every 5 minutes or so.
PSN doesn't sign me out, but I can't stay in a lobby for any amount of time. :odd:

I am coming to the realization that this will most likly be the toughtest race for me this season. with the Fight card tonight and the Indian GP at 5:25am Sunday morning I will be a little tired for the race so i apologize in advance for any mistakes I make on the track.

No worries . 👍

Is it possible if we could have visible damage on tomorrow as I noticed it was set to " Off " last Sunday ? Makes it feel a bit more simulation like I guess ...

And my test report -

Did an 18 lap run with my best time being a 1.44.1xx . Car felt great for the first 12 laps or so before the tyres started screaming for a new set . Managed the tyres to fit in for a one stop window , and towards the end it was a case of just being more gentle .

Also i've noticed that we will , ( Or maybe it's just me... ? ) need a fuel top up at the pitstop(s) . I've calculated that my Denso will burn 3.4 litres of fuel per lap , and I suspect it will run out with 5 laps short . So just be weary of your fuel guys , it could be my driving style or it might not be .....

Another quick secret I will share is that I have not changed 1 nut or bolt on my car since Indy . It just feels perfectly balanced here . 👍

fps_christian
There should be 1 slot left open I think if Gamesta has added SagarisGTB & Enyaw .
Any other drivers will have to be on the reserve list I think .....
But only Gamesta can confirm this ..... 👍

Gamesta... what's the policy on new drivers in the series? Does the series close to new drivers at some point or can anyone join at any time until the final race?

I don't see any problem with new drivers taking spots now with over 1/2 the season left, but IMO at some point we should close it to new drivers -- or maybe only allow new drivers who you (Gamesta) know personally or maybe extend based on a *good* reference from another regular driver in the series.

I really don't want any more knuckleheads like mindshot on track messing up what's otherwise a really good core set of clean drivers -- last week was a warning if you ask me. Luckily mindshot didn't wreck the race for everyone with his crazy text messaging and disparaging remarks to our series host, but if mindshot had decided to talk with his car and start driving like an 🤬 idiot instead of just texting like a 🤬 idiot it would have ruined the experience for all of us.

Personally I vote that as long as we have 10+ drivers we close the series to new drivers after Daytona (1/2 way mark) unless it's a personal reference of one of regular drivers (or you obviously) who know the guy is sane AND clean. If for some reason the series were to drop below 10 then it's worth the risk of new guys I guess. I'd rather have 10 clean drivers (regardless of skill level) rather than 13 clean guys and 1 dirty idiot who has no investment in the series due to joining late and can ruin one or two other drivers race every week.

Again, it's your series and your rules, but you've been open to new ideas in the past so figured I shoot my mouth off one more time and see if it makes any sense.

LMAO..Should I ask what happened last week?

In a nutshell we had another racer apply late in the c/ship. He wanted a Supra , why , we're not sure. Gamesta politely declined his request & asked him to pick an OP car . He went for an NSX.

Race started , all was good . Until he realised he couldn't handle it & dropped significantly down the field , spinning once every lap. He pitted & verbally assaulted Gamesta 4/5 times , for no reason , & left the room.

Thanks for the mostly warm welcome. I can assure you all that I will not verbally or physically abuse anybody on track. I might be slow and slightly erratic though, as I have not played much GT5 since soon after it was released. I will, of course, try to keep it clean when I'm getting passed.

I've opened up a room in the open lobby to practice. Anyone is free to join me. I'm useless with tuning so I will mostly avoid aero and suspension work, but I will try to optimize the gearbox, if that is within my ability.

to help you out a little, pretty much at every track i keep my aerodynamics full as its not to much mph difference down the straights to me to give up that much cornering ability. and welcome to the series, looking forward to having you in the race with us. alot of fast guys here, i've just been lucky.

No problem . None of what we were discussing was in reference to you , so please don't be offended. ( I assume you're not but just in case . ) We had a bad driver show up last time as i'm sure you've read about , and we're just trying to avoid any more incidents .

How is your testing going so far ? And if you would like any advice or tuning help then just add my PSN or GTP account. :)

A great tuning link for the cars in GT5 can be found here also -

Thanks for the tips/references. I don't know if I'm getting anywhere with the gearbox, but at least it's track time, so that helps. :)

Anytime . 👍

What you basically want from your gearbox at this track is a good first gear with the first 3 or 4 ratios pretty close together . This will give you good exit speed out of the tight corners .
For the higher gears , you're looking for your top speed . So 5 should be a little wider than 4 to build your speed up . Then your 6th gear should reflect your maximum achievable speed at the end of the longest straight.
If you want to run at V-Max without factoring in other guys slipstreams , then your needle should be bouncing off the rev limiter at the end of the longest straight . At this track however , your 6th will need about 500/1000 rpm of extra room to factor in for the tow , or possibilities of it.

I hope that's not too confusing ... :)

Yes, Visible Damage will be on this week. I will be closing the Entries as of this race as well.

fps_christian there is a spot available.

Just reminding you guys I won't be at this race.

I hate when people do stuff like that...What a co.k

On a more welcoming note, Welcome to the series Sagaris...looking forward to seeing you on track...

The Free Practice room is onpen now and the Qualification session starts in 1 hour.

See you on the Track!

Will be there shortly ....

I have no idea what's going on with my connection.

Since the last update on Wednesday, the longest I've lasted online in a lounge is 5 minutes (even my own, empty).
Not at all sure where to go from here  as I have literally tried everything.

Hope you guys had a good race 👍

First of all I would like to say great race to everyone . Really enjoyed the action today. 👍

However , I feel we still need to address the same old issues again , pitlane speed limits. 99% of us have now got this all down & respect the rules . BUT , there's one guy who I think is just taking the 🤬 .

This is a quote from the penalties section from the race at Indy -
Here are the Totals as well as penalties for the race at Indy.

Nepalii - Pit lane Infraction 130 MPH into Pits -10 points

Now , i'm not into calling out drivers on the thread , but if you check your own replay you will see what i'm talking about . Same driver , same disregard .... again.

So , my question is - How many of these offences have to take place before a driver is banned from the series ?

And , in my opinion , not checking the thread regularly is not an excuse . The rules on the OP clearly state -
Upon Entering Pitlane you must Slow to 100mph..... Upon exiting the pits one must stay within the Pitlines at a Maximum of 100mph....

I think the rules are pretty clear. 👍

I also want to say really good racing to day guys.

It's 3 major offences to be banned from the series. I will be looking into this.

Banning is kind of extreme don't you think? If someone speeds the penalty should be large enough to deter or take away advantage gained plus some extra.

10 points isn't even 1 spot so maybe that's too little but I haven't seen replay and it probably depends on speed and how bad it was.

Banning should be reserved for intentional or reckless things that directly impact other drivers like over aggressive driving and as result punting. Or disparaging remarks etc. Or at minimum after probation.

FYI... I haven't seen replay yet so I'm just talking generalities and not specific to any driver.

i sped into pitroad i'm pretty sure, but had lost concentration with the lap car there and forgot where i put my braking point, but i did slow way down after the line before getting into the pits.

I respect your opinion WRP . 👍

Take a look at your replay as well & make up your own mind on the events that take place.
Then ask yourself if the same driver will repeat the same action at all of the following events , regardless of losing points.

I looked. Nepalii wasn't alone speeding although he was going all out at 160 mph at the wide yellow line which is not even close. Dragon admitted himself speeding on entry and I checked and he was going 130 mph at the line, also not close, but he was at least braking at the time. Note: I didn't risk it and slowed down to 93 mph at the line.

I think if a guy doesn't make any effort to slow down (i.e. blatant disregard for rules) he should lose his finishing spot and the rest of us should move up a spot (versus banning the driver). Even if you dock the guy 20 points you're not giving points back to the guys who finished behind that driver.

A better option is time penalty... Add some amount of time for every tick over the speed limit to their finish time and take away whatever spots that results in. To me that's the fair way to do it... if a driver wins by 30 seconds a 5 mph jump at the line obviously wasn't the difference, but if he goes 60 mph extra at the line and wins by 1 sec the guy who finished 2nd should be awarded the win... not just docking the "speeder" 10 points.

In any case, that's gamesta's call and I'm good with whatever he decides. I'm coming back for more even if there are no penalties. :sly:

On the other side, this is the first time this season my lap times were competitive or even faster than Dragon *and* I led a good chunk of laps for the first time. I even grabbed fast race lap today, but got pipped by 3 hundredths for pole. Even though I blew the lead (and 2nd place) with two mistakes at least I'm showing some progress as the season goes along.

I didn't have any issues during the race with other drivers. I got bumped from behind twice under braking on turn 1 lap 1, but not hard enough to throw me off line and that was just racing. Guys who are behind really have to learn to brake early and feather to close gap by apex rather than trying to time it perfectly. Otherwise no major contact except for me and "that wall" after turn 1 on lap 17 which cost me a good chance at the win.

To all the new guys: What is your impressions and how were your races? I didn't have any incidents with anyone, but didn't really get a chance to race close to anyone except Dragon and Nepalii today (and even that was limited to 2-3 scattered laps). It was pretty much lonely out there today.

EDIT: Oddity i observed. Dragon -- look at your tires and my tires at the end of lap 17. They are all pretty much the same wear except your left rear which is a good couple ticks less worn. That's strange... was that a setup thing you did on purpose? I lost my rears badly and made the final two laps of a stint very tricky for me (and led to my spin).
