For those using the G27, did anyone mount the wheel, pedals, and/or shifter using the metal screw holes or did you just use the traditional plastic fasteners?

At the moment I am using the clamp, but I will use the hard mount points eventually.

While the clamps are great, they will never be quite as secure and solid as it being screwed on.

The pedals just have a small block to stop them sliding away.

The DFGT only comes with clamps, but in my setup, stuck to the platform it's mounted on, are some really course grit strips that look like the type of thing you find in a swimming pool on the ladder or stairs, so it doesn't move around at all. My pedals are on an adjustable platform with a piano hinge at the front, with the same type of strips on it for grip and it's held down by a pull strap between the pedals. They don't move either when in use.

I am pretty sure I will be doing another PVC cockpit like the one I have now. The measurements will be the same, but better because I will invert the pedals from the top (will help keep my legs from being completely stretched out like they are now). Needed to make an angle brace of some sort to mount the shifter. I wanted to do a left and right hand side drive set up, but will be to tough to get in and out. If I really want to put the shifter on the left I will put together a make-shift set up.

Finally had the time this morning to put in a few laps... This event is my Mister Two choice. Again, perhaps not the best choice of car for this track...

I too plan to participate in the later race. I might also make the earlier one, depending what else I get myself into tomorrow.

Tried some around 340, no go. I am dropping time all over the place, guess I'm not used to CMs lol

Yeah man. No shame in rocking the higher PPs. I tried some 340s and it wasn't happening. Besides I realized that I have used MR layouts for all of my entries. I will have to see how long I can keep this up :)

My VCRC pp is way up there in the 360s. Definitely a different driving style on harder tires (one that I typically enjoy). The big key on this tight little track with a lot of 90 degree turns is to not over driver the turns (granted, that is a key everywhere). Braking and getting the car turned in early on the narrow course makes a huge difference in lap times. See you all tomorrow night, looking forward to racing again after a week off.

Johnnypenso/Johnnypenso/Mini Cooper S 05'/338pp/1:10.761/EDT

I was up in the 350's and 360's for the VCRC until I found that Corolla..one of the best handling street cars in the game at the lower PP levels. Corners like it's on sports tires.

I had my eyes on the levin, I will have to see if I can run my PP that low next week, I'm sure to learn a lot tomorrow, so I'm hopful

I always enjoy not only the fine company of these races, but I feel I learn a lot from following the other drivers. You may think you have your lines figured out perfectly, and then all of a sudden you realize that you are doing things completely wrong. See you guys tomorrow!

Sorry for another late entry.

The key to London is you've got to get close to the barriers at the apex of the corners to get the PP as low as possible. The first corner is really important as it's fairly high speed and you carry a lot of momentum onto the short chute. The next left/right also need to stay close to the barrier. For the left hand sweeper at the back of the course you really need to hug the guardrail as if you get just a few feet offline the grip level drops dramatically and you'll likely slide out into the barrier if you don't lift. And of course the final corner is critical because you carry a lot of speed onto the front straight. I found if you are just a few feet out from the apex on one or two corners it's hard to hit the target time at your target PP level.

I go faster when I stop pushing it, so I think I'll trade going close to the barriers and the potential for disaster that brings for not hitting anything and passing people who pushed it too far :)

Barring being called to work in the next hour or two, I'll be there tonight.:)

I am running a bit further behind than I want to. Gotta hop in the shower and get a couple quick things done. Plan on being there in time for race 1.

I was almost late. Had to go out at the last minute for work and just got back in time. A few pictures of tonight's action. Race 3 is probably one of the 2 or 3 best races I have ever run online. I literally hit every apex and corner nearly perfectly and it was only pure luck that Sag ran wide in the last corner, allowing me to sneak by for the win because he drove flawlessly up until that point and I tried several times but just couldn't get a run. Oddly, I could actually hear my tires and motor, even when running right up on Sag and that was a huge reason for my consistency.

I noticed on the race 3 replay that the top 7 all ran laps of 1:10.5 or better and 8th and 9th ran 1:10.8 and 1:11.0 respectively. Pretty good I'd say!

Thank you again for a great evening of online racing yesterday, my pace was slow, had a hard time doing better than 1'11.xxx. The car was a second choice, since the CR-Z would have been missing steam on the end of the races. I hope we can move the next 2 Monday's to Tuesday's, but if I am the only one unable to attend, no need to bother with it.

This is not the right racing line for Cote!!!

That little MR does not need much room to squeeze.

Sincere appologies to Jujubean for not leaving enough room, from cockpit view, looking ahead at the apex I did not see you, but watching replay you where clearly in front of me as we entered the curve.

I don't believe Monday verse Tuesday either way is a problem with me. I just assume we race 3 nights a week ;).

Tuesdays are no problem for me. No worries on the wreck, Cote. It was tight racing. I've got some pics I am going to post in a bit too. :)

Tuesdays are fine for me until ORCA starts up at some point. Whether it does or not or when is still up in the air so until I hear any different, Tuesdays are fine for me. Even then, they also race on Friday nights and Saturdays so I could still make it sometimes if it stays on Tuesday.

Does the in car cam have the track map available Cote? I never use it so I'm not sure. All I've ever used to keep track of cars around me since the beginning is the track map set on scale 2, which happens to correspond to the draft distance as well. Once someone is off the map at high speed, they are also out of your draft. As I approach the braking points of each corner and on the straights, I always check the track map to see who has momentum and might be making a pass. It's a little tough in traffic but you get used to making a quick glance and processing all the info in a hurry. I couldn't race without it now.

I am still finding it weird that when racing with Sag last night I could hear my car sounds. That hasn't happened since the last update and I'd like to know why it worked last night and didn't any other time. I wonder if it is because we were in the same car?:ill:

The track map is available in all view modes. I must say, the best thing I did in my racing was take a suggestion from a fellow racer to change from the in car view to the bumper cam, and get rid of the map and the driver list all together. I love the in car view on the premiums, and continue to use that if I am just driving for my own pleasure. But when it comes to racing, you can see so much more from the bumper cam. I always used the argument that it wasn't real like the in car...but then again, the in car has its limitations of realness as well since you are looking at a flat tv screen and don't have the side vision you would in real driving. In terms of the map and driver list, I found myself always looking at both, worrying about who was around me. I found by getting rid of them, I focused much more on my marks AND the cars around me. I have a better sense now of where another car is and don't need to take that split second to look at the map (which usually led to a mistake on my part in the past). The rearview mirror in bumper cam is excellent and allows for your eyes to notice changes without taking your focus off the track. In terms of knowing if a car is beside me or not, its as simple as knowing that they were right on my bumper and then moved to the side. If I can't see them in my mirror, they are some where along side of me. I can now pay attention to my line and make the subtle adjustments needed to stay clean. Took a night to get use to and was pretty hard headed about trying the changes, but it has made my racing better and much more enjoyable. Something to consider for anyone willing to try some changes.
