Weird night. I was going a little to fast in the first race: with the experience of running last night and all the lapping I've done around London Reverse the last few weeks, my pace went up as a consequence of all the practice and it became too fast. Another piece of contention ended up being the track boundaries. I personally have treated the red-white rumble strips as track boundaries in London (tried to keep the outside wheels on the track at all times) and so I was using a conservative line in the two 90 degree corners and the last corner. So when I cut T3, coupled with my improved pace on an otherwise very good lap, I posted a 1'09.871. My apologies. I duly lowered my PP for the next two races. Hopefully with the hot lap contest moving into online rooms, stuff like this can be avoided.

Anyway, good racing tonight. I seem to have enjoyed London more than most, I really enjoyed lapping close to the walls. I'm looking forward to the new challenge of Spa in the wet.:)

Attention!

I have done some more testing on Spa in the wet and found big inconsistencies, so unfortunately I am going to have to change the regulations for Round #5.

Times should now be set in the dry, but don't worry we will still have a wet race. The event will start with 20% surface water, with weather set to 75% and a changeability setting of 4. If the surface water starts getting to high for the comfort softs to handle we will transfer to the racing intermediate tyres.

New Targets

Tyres: Comfort Soft
Target Time: 3:08.000 - 3:09.000

Again sorry to change the targets, but I would rather do this then have people turn up and find they aren't able to run with everyone else.

Mike, good call on the TT being in the dry. I forgot to get the results to you from the Monday race (had 6 drivers as well). Pretty sure the winners were: race 1: TrackBound7, race 2 and race 3: HugoStig420. Not that it really matters since we don't keep points, but if you want to post the official results from that evening too I will get them to you.

After reviewing the replay on race 2 I realized that I have been a little too enthousiastic when I passed Sagarismic on lap 11.
After me rear tapping his car in the last left corner of the track, he struggled to keep control of his car and I took advantage to pass him then. He should be first and me second. I should have let him repass me after my misconduct but did not.
I appologize for my behavior, :guilty: my only excuse is that I did not realize that the contact had been that strong, but I should have.:mischievous:
Let's keep it clean and fair, always.

Classy. Totally a "you know you have a great group when..." moment. Group hug!!

So Spa comfort softs, yikes

Not to whine... But JP did his qualifying time on comfort softs and therefore his pp level is wrong?

I enjoyed it even with a few incidents. I had a smidge of bad luck and a couple of c0ck ups that caused a few problems for others. So apologies!

Really struggled with the last corner and at a low pp it was hard to make a pass stick. But damn good fun nonetheless! Had an intense race with Mike but really struggled for consistency in that clapped out Mr Twp.

Must pick a more sensible car for Spa... If I get a chance on Saturday to set a time!

True and I think I posted my actual racing PP after the race, for the record. I think it was 342 if memory serves. I should have known that was too good to be true.

I also didn't pay any attention to the curbs. Any time I've raced London the whole curb was considered track, I never gave it a second thought. Sorry:scared:

I have always thought London had no boundaries other than the wall as well. Every group (this is the 3rd or 4th) that I have raced with there has seemed to adopt the same opinion. Just one of those tracks where you could hardly run two wide anywhere without getting up on the side walks.

Did some practice at Spa. The rain is going to be an interesting factor...I think a ton of fun. I plan on doing some more practice this weekend in the rain and will post my average lap times. I think it would be good if most did this since the TT is in the dry. That should help gauge if there needs to be any adjustments so the racing is still close. Would really like to see us stick with the CS tires in the rain too...for consistency.

MCRC Spa Round
TrackBound7/TrackBound7/Audi TT 3.2 quattro 07/391pp/3.08.308/EDT

When I hit that lap time I figured it was a sign.

I too have considered London's only track boundaries to be the walls. Where we not supposed to use the kerbs? I set my target time by using them...

Oh yea, you guys had a race on tuesday as well. Sorry forgot about it.

We will be using the comfort softs, unless the surface water gets too high then we will change to the racing intermediate tyres.

Nice pics Cote. 👍

SagarisGTB / sagarismic / Toyota Celica SS-II (ST202) '97 / 381pp / 3'08.307 / CDT

I'm going to try other cars if I have time, the problems with the Celica are lack of top end grunt (168 hp) and perhaps front tire wear. I haven't tried the car in the wet yet either.

Did a quick 5 lap test with the weather conditions Mike posted for racing on Tuesday (will we be having a Monday event too?). I lapped a 3.16 when it started at 20% surface water, gradually lose 1.5-2+seconds per lap as the surface water continued to rise. Ended around a 3.23 with 100%. Not sure how much harder I could have pushed, I think racing with others will really determine that. I am not going in with any expectations...far to many unknowns. I am guessing there will be some comers and goers as the weather changes though. I can see someone and their car being better than the rest in the early stages and vice versa at the end. Should be exciting and a ton of fun, that is for sure. In terms of the tires, I like the CS. Have not tried the intermediates, but with the CS it is very doable (at least in an AWD car). Definitely gets harrier near the end of a 5 lap stint, but still a lot of fun.

There will be a Monday and Tuesday event.

I look forward to see how different cars and drivers deal with the changing conditions.

Looks like I'll be out of town again and won't make either race...sorry guys.:grumpy:

I agree, the CS tire can be used in all conditions. I say we stick with the CS tire in whatever weather conditions there may be.

I tried the Celica in two possible wet conditions: on a drying track starting at 40% and on a 100% weather 100% surface water track. Driving on the drying track felt almost like the dry and I was able to lap relatively quickly: 3'13.0 on a track that dried from 35% to 29%. It seems to be significantly faster than what you did at similar water %s. However, at 100% surface water, the car felt completely different and understeered far more than I expected. Only after doing a few laps at 100%, getting used to the conditions and warming the front tires a little, I was able to post a 3'23.8.

I think there definitely will be "comers and goers" if conditions change significantly during the race, and I'll personally be better off with less rain.

I haven't had time to prepare, I'll have to skip MC and concentrate on VC. Really disappointing, as Spa rain will be run
