Four showed tonight. There definitely were the have and have-nots in terms of car selection. The rain separated the four of us more than we have had in past races. There was still some really good racing with 2 cars, but Mike and I think Sag may be second guessing their cars.

Alternate car won't change my position in the hot lap contest, but it might give me a better chance to compete with the 4WD cars in the races.

I think I'm going to win the longest name award with this one.:)

Plus I would like to put another entry for the MCRC.

I was going to use that car on Eiger, but it just lacked power going up the hills. Definitely a long name though!

I am going to be around now that it's summer. I see you are just finishing up on week 5 (Eiger Short Track, I believe). What's the next track? I've tried to see how I do on your lap times, but the cars I have to run to get close to y'all are usually 30-45 PP higher than the 390's I'm reading about.

Best wishes - I'll keep checking out your thread.

.

The PP are not important, all you need is a car that runs the pace on the selected tyres.
After a few event, your PP will drop, garantee!
Also check our next endurance race at Montegi in July.

Well guys, I really wanted to run tonight, but I have been busy lately, and haven't had the time to get comfortable in a car on this track. I might pop in to watch the race tonight, and the try to get ready for next week.

For the first time since the beginning of those events I cannot honestly write that I had a great time tonight at Spa. The unpredactibility the rain brings does not help equalizing talent the way our formula usualy does. Establishing the pace in the dry and racing in the rain might be interesting for some as it adds an element of uncertainty, but I propose that the parity racing stays with the formula that worked so well until now.

I was trying to establish a "norm" time on variable.

Let us say that the sample size a regular, employed person establishes in said conditions is... Variable.

While weather varies in life, if our baseline does not in this game, will enjoyment equal conditions that set the presumed equality, or ?

iPad fighting my editing. I submit tonight.

I have to appologise for the outcome of the rain events we had, as I had not fully anticipated, different vehicles having such vast performance differences. I have to agree that the rain has not worked for this system and I can safely say, I can't see any more wet races in this series future.

Given the sometimes large performance gap the rain creates, I would like to propose that the VCRC races this Monday be held exclusively in the dry.

I will be happy with a dry VCRC event. :)

As much as I enjoyed racing in the rain, I am 100% on board sticking to the dry for this group. Car selection and possibly driver comfort in the rain definitely led to some of the biggest gaps we have seen since the start.

Congratulation on your performance yesterday at Spa, also to Sag, does it rain a lot on your planet? ;)

I am at the VCRC now and for an other hour practicing for VCRC round 5.

I'm sort of torn with the rain effect, it was a nice change of pace, but it indeed did create rather troublesome gaps. I barely saw Cote's car on Tuesday. Maybe we could try starting the race with a slightly damp track that will quickly dry under 0% weather? It feels sad to drop the weather after the build-up to it.

Thank you Sag for the practice, modified a few turns entry points.

Any one up for practice/unformal race later?

Lived in New England my whole life, constant weather changes. Spent too many years in my early driving with poor tires in poor conditions. I think a lot of it was the car, it was very stable and predictable in the wet conditions. I think my preferred driving style is more suited to the slippery conditions. I do think racing in the dry will be better though. As nice as it is to run up front or win, it is still more fun to be racing in a pack like we usually do.

Sorry chaps, gonna be out for a wee bit while I sort all my stuff out post-move and work being hectic.

Been kicked out of the loundge. I had a good time at Spa with Mike and Juju. Getting ready for Monday's race.

New England? The way you drove yesterday seemed to be from an other planet. LOL.

I think I have my entry ready:

Jujubean14/jujubean/Nissan Silvia 240RS (110) '85/423 PP/3:08.062

I was practicing offline with the Peugot 205 T16 yesterday and hitting laps in the 3:04-3:05 range, but couldn't get below 3:10 online today. It is amazing how much just that little bit different grip will really alter a car's handling.

Going back to the rain race...what driving view were you guys using? I know some are pretty hardcore cockpit view. That alone could have made a huge difference as it is so hard to see from that view in the rain.

Cockpit view. No abs. As always. LOL.
I realize it is a handicap in some way, as other are using a different approach, that is why the parity formula is so brilliant, as it allows every one to have it the way they like. To me, cockpit view with wheel, is the only way to drive.

In 100% rain, you can hardly see anything, you are right, I go on (real) tracks regularly, but never had to do it in the rain, wet track only like after a storm. I can only imagine how hard it is to race in the rain.
Spa was a bigger challenge for me as I am familiar with the track, but not at the point of being able to drive it with my eyes closed, like Tsukuba or Nurburgring, so not seeing clearly was an additional handicap. Also I believe I need more practice than most, not addapting very fast, to get to the pace and be consistant, so changing grip condition like rain, are really a challenge for me.

Not sure I will be making this Monday's VCRC event. I finally finished up my new rig for the new G27. Went to test it out last night and am having problems with the steering wheel...it don't turn the car! All of the lights, buttons, etc work on the wheel, just the wheel itself does not seem to do anything. I was on the phone with logitech today (from work), they need some code numbers on the bottom. I am hoping/thinking they will just send a replacement unit since everything I tried last night didn't work. Just a little frustrated about this one!!!
