If I were a race driver leaving V8s, I'd sign up!

I've hosted rooms to cater to TCM but, not many takers. Its a fantastic series that should do better in GT6. PD missed out on giving us Mustang RMs for both Premium cars. The best we got are the super wide Goodyears when you buy the Torq Thrust wheels.

I did make a replica of Bowe's Mustang. Black bonnet and all white body using the Aston Martin Sirrus White to match the factory white stripes. :)

Apparently that Xbox Holden had more horsepower and fuel was different cause for every 2 stops other cars had they had 1 it went over the pits that night but be a different story if they straight up won.

INTRIGUE OVER WILDCARD STRAIGHTLINE SPEED

http://www.speedcafe.com/2013/10/15/intrigue-over-wildcard-straightline-speed/

The biggest talking point surrounding the car on Sunday was not its drivers however, but rather its straightline speed.Several rivals commented to their teams during the race that they could not keep up with the Xbox car up Mountain Straight and down Conrod.Ford Performance Racing’s Will Davison described its speed as “ridiculous”, while even Triple Eight’s own Craig Lowndes made reference to wanting “Ludo’s engine”.Lucas Dumbrell, whose team runs customer Triple Eight equipment, joked on*Twitter*that he was “pretty sure the #XboxOne car has 750hp or is running #E70″.Official speed trap data supplied by a team to Speedcafe.com on Sunday showed the Xbox Holden to be the quickest of all cars, with its 289km/h reading a full 4km/h ahead of that managed by Lowndes or the winning FPR Falcon of Mark Winterbottom. The car also recorded a faster final sector, which stretches from the exit of Forrest’s Elbow to the control line, than either of the two Red Bull entries over the 161 lap contest.Lacroix, who returned to the role of race engineer for the first time in several seasons in order to look after the internationals, spoke proudly of the car’s pace post-race, but denied suggestions that its engine was running development components.“Our engine was not actually as good as the top two (Triple Eight’s Red Bull cars),” he told Speedcafe.com.“We wouldn’t put the best engine in that car if we could put it there (Red Bull).“It wasn’t special, but the car was the quickest because I know how to make a quick car in a straight line.“It’s cooling, it’s not carrying toe, not carrying camber… it’s just being clever,” he continued.“Maybe we are not quickest across the top, but we’re quick in a straightline.“Here when you race with ‘youngsters’, there is no point making them quick across the top and then they get beaten in a straightline.“You need to make sure that when they are in the pack nobody can beat them.”Lacroix added that the team’s off-sequence strategy in the race’s final third had been designed to keep the duo out of the pack.“We had to stop (for an eighth time) because, we should have stopped very, very early, but at the time it’s difficult to put these guys back in the middle of the pack,” he said.“It’s better to put them with the good ones (drivers) and they can learn very quickly the track. I think that was the best strategy.”

I'm not really sure what to make of that but his reason seems logical BUT considering those 2 drivers, I'm pretty sure they could be fast period.

It wouldn't surprise me to see it be a test for parts either. No one expected top 10, so basically anything they did would be a win-win for them!

I cant remember if the XBOX ONE car is the prototype COTF or a new car. I know Whincup has a new car, hence why some felt he won Sandown. But, for Dumbrell to leave the field for dead as a co-driver against the main drivers at the start of the race, says a lot about T8. Must be an easier car to drive next to the competition. Its like a RB F1 car. So to speak.

I heard that the XBOX One car was Whincups car rewrapped and Whincup had the new car, either way red bull racing australia is a team that most people don't like.

I know they were building a spare car but I figured Xbox One got the hand me down one which was probably why it actually was ok with less bugs as new cars have.

I like them just fine as I can't knock a team for being that good just because they hired the right people. I just dislike Whincup period, he has a cockiness to him that isn't pretty. There are others who care as cocky like Tander BUT he is alot less snooty about it too and someone who actually is likeable to me.

After watching the race, and pondering to some ideas to fix the international side of the sport like the US for example. I'm curious on opinions on race length/style for other events since most of America is much more into longer races than short sprints like Nascar.

If instead of having the 4 races in Austin, have something like this. Friday/Saturday mid day have practice then qualifying with top 10 shootoutp; Sunday have a long 500 or 600km race along long course. I know it's not enduro season but it would give some flare to the series I think with drivers. Granted I know it couldn't be may-august because of heat. You can add another track for a sprint based side of things like 2 days of racing with say 2 200km events or something like that.

If I recall correctly, Crompton mentioned during the race that the XBOX Commodore was Triple 8's original COTF car. Guessing that's the same one that Whincup started the year with and the same one they used (although with VE Bodywork) during the COTF parade laps at last years Sydney 500.

I agree Craig Lowndes is a really good driver and a friendly guy yet Whincup is becoming more and more like Seb Vettel every day.

One memory comes to mind when he was going to lose the lead in the pits to FPR but he jammed his car in front of every one else and could have caused an serious accident. This he got away with, which really worked me up. I can't remember where it was but I know it was last season.

No turning back for Dumbrell.
Paul Dumbrell says that a decision to step away from co-driving at Red Bull next year would mark a permanent end to his V8 Supercars driving career.
Dumbrell has joined long-time friend Jamie Whincup in the endurance races since halting a nine-year stint as a full-timer in order to concentrate on business commitments at the end of 2011.
The Automotive Brands CEO has largely proven the fastest co-driver since making the switch, taking the 2012 Bathurst 1000 and 2013 Sandown 500 victories.
Dumbrell’s speed at the front of the field at Sandown this year, however, masked a lack of recent race experience which showed its head at Bathurst.
A decision on the matter will be made between Dumbrell and the Roland Dane-owned Red Bull team after this month’s Armor All Gold Coast 600.
“It’s such a long day and everything has to go right, you can’t be missing that tiny little one percent,” said Dumbrell of Bathurst.
“Not racing full-time I struggled in the race with race craft and all of those sorts of things. I made a few rookie errors which really cost us.
“I’ve got to sit down with the team and with Roland after the Gold Coast and analyse whether it’s right for me and right for the team to go around again.”
Dane could already have lined up the perfect replacement for Dumbrell, with Scott Pye set to be eligible for co-driver duties if a mooted step down to the Carrera Cup takes place for 2014.

Don't forget as well, someone with the name of Mark Skaife who looks set to make a return to co-driving duties in 2014.

That's great. I would love to see Skaifey back in the mix.

I also heard rumors about Marcos Ambrose returning for 2014.

Say, did you notice in the XBOX ONE V8SC intro, Skaife Racing is a sponsor?

Skaife is such a bone head, I was standing behind the pits during the double driver practice session, Ekstrom jumped out of the car Priaux jumped in and Skaife is all in Ekstrom's face about the car, telling him the feelings he should be getting over the top.

Ekstrom in a few more colorful words said,

I just need time to learn the circuit and the car, there is no point adjusting for a few extra tenths if we aren't up to pace in the car, we can find those tenths by line altering, gaining confidence in braking zones, and corner speed, so would you kindly shut up!

The result for that car really doesn't do them justice, they were right on the money all weekend, I'd hate to see how dominant they could be given a season prior to the mountain,

Marcos with Murph as a co-driver.

It could happen. 💡 All they have to do is kiss and make up.

Pretty sure that's not even an option unless something major changes between now and then since he has signed for another season atleast (I don't remember exact details) to race in Nascar still.

Glad to see him actually tell him to pipe down, people and their egos sometimes!

Marcos with Murph as a co-driver.

Hell might as well put 2 seats in it so they can yell at each other all race long! They would never have to do a driver swap either because I doubt they would make to through the first stint.

 I wish Murph had slapped the silly out of him that year and that's from a ford fan.

I myself was not big on skaife but I rather him than say.... Whincup, Rick Kelly or James Moffat. Its great that Ekstrom said this, its good to know he has a good head on his shoulders :D

I didn't. Actually I wasn't aware that Skaife Racing was even a thing. :dunce:

You're not the only one. It's at 1:23.

EKSTROM's Comments About V8SC
http://www.v8supercars.com.au/news/not-a-scratch-on-xbox-wildcard

Ekstrom said looking back he was sure he’d be happy with 10th*for his first shot at Mount Panorama, though after the race –*in true driver fashion –*he wanted to have finished higher in the order.*“The target was to run within the top 10 and then we finished 10th, so mission just accomplished… I’m not 100 per cent happy, I think I would have been happy to give the car to Andy in the last stint fighting somewhere between fifth and eighth.”*He praised the V8 Supercars Championship – not just the on-track action, but the accessibility for fans at the event.*“I’m very impressed with the other drivers, the driving standard is very high, very fair, the cars are really enjoyable to drive.*“It is way more open here. People are having a different approach – it’s much more genuine and more open, the fans can come look in the garages, so it’s really, really impressive.*“And it’s not only the driving I learned, I met a lot of nice people, I saw a new Championship and I have learned a lot…*“In the end to finish 10th*– sure, I would’ve preferred a bit better –*but the experience is 10 out of 10.” *

Thanks for posting the video. 👍

FPR to debut new Suspension package.
Ford Performance Racing will debut a newly approved brand of dampers at this month’s Armor All Gold Coast 600 as it strives to add a championship victory to last weekend’s Bathurst crown.
An existing user of the Triple Eight-imported Sachs dampers, Oscar Fiorinotto’s locally developed Supashock units are expected to be run in two of the factory Ford team’s four cars at the Surfers Paradise event.
The Supashocks were seen earlier this year on Matt Stone Racing’s Dunlop Series entries before being outlawed in a bid to reign in development avenues in the second-tier class.
V8 Supercars recently approved the Supashocks to be raced in the main series from the Gold Coast onwards following work between FPR, the Adelaide-based Fiorinotto and the category on homologation.
The German Sachs brand had enjoyed a monopoly on the championship following the Holden Racing Team’s mid-season switch from its long-used Ohlins units.

Just saw on Facebook that Roland Dane is now complaining that 7 compulsory stops at Bathurst is too many.

I'm not a big fan of him he is a very sly operator, I wish they would just get over it and look towards the next race. You never hear of FPR, BJR, Erebus or both Nissan teams complaining about rules and regs when they lose...

Wasn't it just a thing for this year only to help the Nissan's and Merc's with their bad fuel mileage? I figured next year it would change back to the way it was...

Don't know for sure but I hope they don't it makes for better racing in my opinion.

More stops, less fuel conservation. :D

He says everyone know the fuel economy figures but, us fans don't. All we know is, it costs Erebus and NISMO 15seconds of refueling time. That still doesnt tell us everything. Are Ford and Holden short fueling(its not possible as all the teams must fill up a specified amount) their cars? Because Roland Dane said they get the same economy as the E63s. At Sandown, Will was told to conserve fuel, while Holdsworth was pressing on.

I would like to know the numbers for sure. Once again, I think V8SC missed an opportunity to find out the true economy, this race, before next year. As the S60s economy will be an unknown to us until Clipsal. I just need to know the size of the tanks. I think the DOHC engines need a bigger capacity.

Edit: 112L fuel capacity but, I dont know if this is the final figure.

It was expected that 21-23 laps would be the net worth of fuel, Dave reynolds needed a slash and dash with 2 or 3 to go, and I honestly thought he was fine on juice, the Mercs and Datsuns also pitted in the 21-23 laps to go and mad it fine, I think that its all a load of BS

They should be able to compare fuel usage in the telemetry, considering there will be a massive amount we might not hear about the Altima and E63 vs. Falcon and Commodore economy till after the Gold Coast.

I am a big fan of the tech and strategy in V8SC like Larkos pre-race reports, but I don't know as much as I would like to so I could be wrong. When the S60's jump in next year it could get quite interesting.

I was told to "Build a Bridge" yesterday. So I did!! What do you all think of my bridge?
