most of these stories will probably end with "i was so mad i quit the race".
I hate the races that I get punted off, and can't catch up and invoke revenge, but I usually love the races right after them.![]()
every time i catch up to who ever punted me he is usually already in the sand so i cant even get revenge.![]()
I can't say I'm enjoying any race online at the moment. The tyre changes have made most races a lottery as far as fair competition goes, and for whatever reason the number of bad drivers seems to have increased vastly over what it was. Since the changes I haven't had one race where someone hasn't punted me off, be it intentionally or simply though understeer on the crap tyres.
👍If it wasn't for rough we wouldn't have a word for smooth
Let's hear the horror stories
A couple of nights ago I was racing A Ferrari 512BB in the NTSC Tournament at Suzuka
Overshot spoon curve on the first lap either because of weight penalty for being in the lead or brake failure. That put me near dead last. Got back on the track and started down the back stretch.
Then someobody in a white car pulled along side me to pass but before he was clear he started to cut me off! I'm sure he drives like that in real life, cutting off etc etc
So I lifted and he missed me
Then going into turn 1 on the second lap I pass a F40 on the inside and barely hit his side, but he stays on the track and right on my bumper.
The very next short straight he pulls along side me and takes us both out by sideswiping me on purpose.
It's sad that was my second online race in nearly a week and I run into garbage driving like that so quickly.
The next race in the tournament I try to start but it ends almost as soon as it starts.

When you spun off at Spoon, I was right behind you. After you left the track, I was in the lead by a good margin. When I got around 130R and braked for Casio Triangle ( the slow chicane before the straight) it was as if I had brake failure. Same speed I always have there, braked at the same spot that I did 50 times before, but this time my brakes just didn't stop me. I went into the stacks of tires pretty hard. By the time I got back to the track, I was last place. And finished last.Dude, the same thing happened to me, I was leading the race and I had a 3 second lead over everyone there. This was in the Tournament and right before the spoon I just lost it. I dunno how, I didn't anything different than before. I took the small turn like I had 30 times before in practice and I just lost it. I was so pissed, I finally concluded that it was the Rubber Band effect in the game, my grip changed so the car didn't handle the same, like it would if I was out in front by .500 of second. Man I feel your pain, I went all the way too 10th or something and then raced my way up to 2nd place. lol Ham won the race.
Man that was probably one of the worst WTF races I have ever ran...You don't want to be leading in this game...The Rubber Band effect will just mess with you. You can take the car threw this corner at 80MPH his lap, then go into the lead and and on the next lap you can take the same corner 80MPH and you go off the track? what kind of crap is that? This game, I swear.

I have noticed that with the S2 tires, there seems to be less grip after the first lap, and by the last lap, the tires are loosing there grip more. I noticed this in practice, but it's worse in actual races.
i have found that if you brake late sometimes the brakes seem like they have completely failed. it happens on the suzuka hairpin to me more than anywhere else. i brake a bit late, and there should be enough road to cover the mistake, but i just go sailing off.
Apologies for being off-topic, but this is relevant to the last couple of posts.
Are you guys using the sixaxis controller?
I too have experienced "brake failure".
Each time, though, it's been my fault. I race with accelerator/brake on the right-hand stick. I find that if my concentration wanders, instead of pulling the stick back for braking towards the 6 o'clock position, I'm pulling towards approx 4.30. Hence I'm not getting full braking and I fly off the outside of the bend.
