I think it's complete crap, I mean have you ever looked in combat records? It shows all of that fancy graph stuff already, for FREE. And I can also watch a video of a guy sitting in a corner and getting 3 kills, and they can only be 30 seconds in length at max, right? And they make a somewhat comical trailer to get people to pay attention and thumbs up the video, and even favorite it, they're making us pay for services already in the game and they're making it seem like it's all new stuff, when it's the same old stuff on the disc, they're just making you pay for it. I play on PSN and I'm not much of a Black Ops player, but we shouldn't have to stand for this! $15 maps, for 4 of them actually, with or including zombies I can't remember, but this is RETARDED, we shouldnt have to pay to play a game we've already paid for, and that they wont even fix all of the game's problems and they expect us to give them money? We shouldn't. Thumbs down and dislike all of the CoD: Elite videos, protest in the comments, and the Call of Duty Website forums, this is complete bullcrap!

I think its a joke. All the stuff listed for Elite is what Treyarch already has in Black Ops and the funny thing is, Black Ops probably will be better at stat tracking than MW3 Elite will be. I for one will not be paying for Elite. Why are they charging for something that no one has ever asked for? It's another Activision money grab pure and simple. They aren't doing this for the players, they are doing this for their bottom line. Pass.

Wow...I can easily spot two people who have zero idea of what Elite actually is and just decided to cry foul without even reading anything about Elite.

MW3 multiplayer is FREE (on PSN, XBLive has their fee) Elite is FREE. A majority of the features that have been talked about will be free. The stat tracking, the groups, clans. Advanced features and access to all DLC will be part of the pay service. Elite stat tracking will actually INCLUDE Black Ops along with MW3 and future CoD games. They are NOT removing things from MW3 and giving them ONLY to Elite subscribers, nor will subscribers get access to items that unbalance the game. You can blast DLC map packs all you want, but they have nothing to do with Elite other than subscribers will not have to pay on top of the subscription fee for them. As for charging for something no one asked for...does it matter? They're offering an extended service for people who are willing to pay for it, and are offering lots of things for FREE to everyone. You don't have to pay for it to play MW3 or to get the DLC, you can still buy the DLC just like in MW2 or BO. Seriously, to prevent yourself from looking like an utter fool, do a search and read a couple sites to get all the information before you go spouting misplaced rage.

That's not the problem, they're taking away things that are already in the game, then making us pay for it if we want it, we can already look at these fancy graphs, and watch other peoples theater mode videos, but now they're taking and saying, hey look! It's new! Buy it!

No, they're not. They have not said what all the pay subscription will have, but the stat tracking is not part of it, it's free. MW3 will more than likely have the same sort of stat board in-game like MW2. Elite is nothing more than a web-based service for people to look at their stats more in-depth and to gather with other gamers. I believe there will be some integration in-game with Elite as well. Tell me one thing they REMOVED from MW3 that was in MW2 that is now part of Elite and that you pay for. Black Ops might be Acti, but it's completely different developers than the MW series. You can't compare missing features between the two because of this. Again, you're completely misinformed and getting bent out of shape for nothing.

I'm not talking about MW3, and we know almost nothing about it yet still, you can already compare stats with friends

Icarus is basically saying (I hope :p) that the stat tracking will be a lot more in-depth than already, and from what I've seen (that KyletheLegendsomethingwhatever video) it looks more like a social-gaming site that you'd have to pay for. I guess it's for the pretty hardcore gamers though.

Exactly Daniel. From what has been shown so far, it looks like you'll be able to view your stats based on game type, weapon used, and probably even more ways. Elite is pretty much CoD Facebook. While some parts will be pay, the basic social parts will be free.

And Cowboys, you can hardly talk about Elite without talking about MW3 since Elite won't be 100% running until MW3 is released. It's basically designed to work seamlessly with MW3. You haven't said one truth at all other than we don't know much about MW3 yet. The simple fact is, as I've stated already, they have not REMOVED any of the features you would expect from the next CoD game. Elite is a web-based service where people can gather to find other people to play with, form clans and participate in clan matches, view extended stats in more detail, and get tips to become better. You LOSE nothing by not joining, there will not be any special perks or weapons or anything in-game for subscribers other than DLC. A lot of the features of Elite will be free, a point you seem to fail to grasp. This service is not broken, it is not a "joke", it is not just a money-grab. Yes, they found a way to make some money by offering something for hardcore people who want to spend the money, but you will not be at any more of a disadvantage by not subscribing. Once again, please point out something they REMOVED from MW2 (Black Ops does not count because it's not the same developer) and put in Elite and said PAY US and you can have it.

Haha you got me!

Also no more Commando, One-Man Army, Stopping Power, and Tactical Nukes...which is a very good thing.

Im against the removal of Stopping Power because there is nothing to compete with Ghost in Black Ops. Which I expect to see maybe the same in MW3, but I don't know well just have to wait and see.

This is getting off-topic a bit, but what do you mean by "compete" with Ghost? I don't have Black Ops, but Ghost sounds like Cold-Blooded from MW2. I'm not seeing how Stopping Power is necessary to counter something like that. I'm for it's removal, it gets rid of the stupid "I saw you first and shot but got killed because you had SP" and moves the game towards people with a better battle plan or more skill. That's just my opinion though.

To stay on topic and because I haven't stated my opinion yet, my thoughts on Elite. When it was announced I thought it was sort of silly and not really worth it, but seeing videos and reading up it's sounding like something interesting and useful. The pay service doesn't interest me, I don't see a need for it as of yet. What they've said about the free service though makes me want to give it a try. It would be a good way of organizing a group from here like we sort of half-heartedly try to do now, and with the stat tracking you could work out game plans for certain maps or game modes based on everyone's strengths and weaknesses. It could be a very handy tool, but the extras for paying would have to be amazing to get me to bite.

Correct. In BO the perks that Ghost competes with are Lightweight (1.07x speed), Flak Jacket (.35x exp damage), Scavenger (replenish ammo) and Hardline (-1 KS req). So no doubt ghost is quite useful, but so are the other competing perks depending on the class and mode one is playing. SP is only really necessary to counterbalance Juggernaut and as BO doesn't have Jugg SP isn't needed.

OT - Until more specifics are known we really can't say what the payed features of Elite are worth. However for me I simply can't see myself having any interest in paying for it regardless of they are.

Why?!? Give us more removable Ghillie suits and skins that are available by choice not by map!

Ahh...I get it now about competing perks. I'm sure they'll set them up in a way that there's a choice to be made.

This is something I would actually like as well, although it doesn't have much to do with Elite. Elite is being done by a completely separate group from the ones working on the game itself.

It pretty much is like cold blooded, considering you don't need a level to unlock perks in this game, just enough money, theres not much to choose from besides ghost, there's flak jacket, lightweight, scavenger, they can't really outweigh ghost even though they are pretty good, spy plane and blackbird ate good but when somebody's using ghost, they are invisible, I understand for spy plane, but for blackbird, which is pretty high killstreak to be cancelled out by a perk

Maybe we could sort of drift toward other BO stuff, considering this is still the PC and Console gaming thread, or would be against forum rules because the title is different, anyway back to BO!

Well, it's a general rule to stay focused on the topic set out in the thread title. Since Elite is completely separate from BO and MW3 it's best to only bring them up when it has something to do with their integration with Elite, plus there's already a Black Ops thread, a MW3 thread, a MW2 thread, and a MW1 thread.

I don't mean to pick on you Cowboys, but you were the thread starter. Have you gotten a grasp on what Elite actually is now? Has that lessened the sour grapes attitude you unleashed in the first post?

Sorry but your statement about Ghost and Blackbird is completely incorrect. Ghost does make one invisible to Spy Plane and the Pro version makes one undetectable by Helicopters but Blackbird shows every single player on the map and what direction they are facing. No matter what. The only counter to BB is Counter Spy Plane, but that can be shot down if the other team is thinking on their feet.

The free features sound pretty cool, but I just don't play Call of Duty enough anymore to consider paying for it at all. I bought Black Ops at launch and I just got to level 50 the other night.

I'm kind of in the middle on this one. If you want me to pay, it better be spectacular, and nothing I've read or heard so far sounds like something I'd be in line to purchase.

Having said that, I've always maintained that CoD games' entertainment value for the money($60) is simply unbelievable. As cheap as I am(I'm cheap, seriously, I am), I never really had any issue with the map packs either, because I can more than easily justify $15 per map pack. I play a lot, and for the hours of enjoyment I get out of it, few more dollars, at least in my eyes, are fair.

But free would be better. :p

P.S. Icarus, do you even have a working console yet? lol

Anyone else signed up? I have, don't think I'll get in though

I put in an email address, yes. However I have not received anything yet. I think they mentioned it would be later in June before they started the Beta up.

Very nice find Sharky. 👍

P.S. Icarus, do you even have a working console yet? lol

Haha no, not yet. I've got to go out and get a heat gun to fix mine, plus I'm waiting to see what Sony has up it's sleeve for E3 before I grab a new one. I've got a month to at least fix the broken one so I can snag all the Welcome Back stuff.

Agreed. I think that IW/Activision are just wasting valuable time with this. There are so many things that could be included, such as what you have said, but instead they decide to make CoDbook.

I also don't think that many will buy it, apart from the most core of the hardcore fans.

Probably because there's more money in it for them

FWIW a full walk-through of the service is up:

Looks nice enough for what they are trying to do, however I'm not seeing anything that is worth paying for. That will be the most interesting detail to be revealed, what stuff req $ and what will remain free.
