Okay, pure speculation here but IF PD does still have three surprises left in store for GT4, what do you think they are in order of most likely...

1) Le Mans (La Sarthe with old (pre-1990) config. option)
2) Porsche
3) Ferrari

(Yes, I'm still holding hope, those three for me takes GT4 thru the stratosphere and into space!!!)

What's yours??? Maybe someone has some intriguing hunch.

I don't think PD has revealed half of GT4's content yet. Look at GT3, where they included historic (though generic) Formula 1 cars? I think the B-Spec and Photo modes have been revealed so that while we're busing discussing and anticipating them, they're busy including extra features.

After all, it's an old magician's trick - make your audience look at one had while you perform the magic with the other.

u didnt get this from my post mentionin suprises left did you? :)

anyhow.. lets see.. 1, then 2, then 3, hmmm that turned out not very helpful.. dont have any new ideas as to what ther ehiding at the min, so instead ill stand by to shoot other ppls ideas down in flames :dopey:

like...putting online back in? ;)

that would be funny...

TGS 2004: Sorry folks no online.

Release date: PSYCH!

thats very true DYR, "this eggs real isnt it? look at it closely!" as long as they keep giving away jst enough to keep us entertained over here id be happy to see it get pushed back again if it meant new features.. tho not too long! dont wanna break my DFP on L4S before it hits the shelves

I asume you got the idea for this thread from the Koenig thread ;)

It would be cool for all the fans if those 3 would be in the game. I personally am not a fan of Ferrari.
I saw other members posting that Le Mans would be too much for the PS2. It would be nice if PD could pull it off.
Maybe a no.4 can be added to your list, namely Lamborghini. I would rather like to see Lamborghini more than Ferrari. but as they are both competitors, one can't do without the other really.
I think PD has a lot of surprises left in store for us. I think they deliberately are keeping the numbers low to surprise us when the game hits the shelves. They are printing the game on a 9GB dual layer DVD, so a LOT more content could be added. I don't think space on the disc is a problem to PD.
Now they don't have to deal with online mode anymore, they can concentrate on adding more content and the polishing of the game. It's just 2 months of non-stop modelling and programming. I think 1000 is a magic number here. I do think the biggest surprise will be the content.

1000? id say thats WAAY up there in most peoples expectations :) , although it is a nice round number so pd should aim for that for the "1000 sounding sygnificantly better than 999" effect :dopey: or more honestly, cause every car they manage to finish between now and "going gold" time is what will keep us going when GT5 seems a long way off

If the PS2 can do the Nurb', I'd be very surprised it couldn't do Le Mans, afterall they're a representation of the track and not a perfect replica of their surroundings, as the shots of GT4 Nurb and the real video shots show. There's a little difference in the surroundings but track is pretty much bang on.

I read somehwere that PD only got the 'Ring in because they used some trick with the programming that allowed them to compress large amounts of data with fewer negative side-effects such as pop-up than if they had have compressed the data normally.

Or something.

apparently, to be up to the same level Le Mans would need "more complex" scenery, as in not the majority of it being duplicated trees

So does that mean a full Pikes Peak can be done since theres basically no real scenery other than the start and the finish.

My Suprise guesses?

1: Full 3d wheels
2: The inclusion of motorcycles. Motor Toon GP(ok who remembers!?) had the bonus Motor toon R(Gran Turismo test bed) cars that had nothing to do with games concept
3: A GT fighting game using the Human element system.

well iv just turned into an addict.. great. something else to add to my list

1. an obvious one, not gonna happen for performance reasons (as in they could eke out every last bit of power from the good old ps2 in better ways)

2. a weird one that makes some sence, we know theres going to be "some" room left on the dual layer dvd there useing, so perhaps if the motercycle game they were rumoured to be thinking about is off the ground and uses the same engine they may add some elements as a test.

3. lol, the just plain weird one.. useful if GT4 was still online and you wanted to get back at that guy who just fishtailed you.

suprises? streakers, that would be a suprise! especially if it was programmed with odds to only happen say 1 in every 1,000,000 races. someone would be on here saying it happened to them and no-one would ever believe them

What would surprise me, hmmm, how about...

...the game is free.

...flame exhaust.

...trash and debris (leaves and the like) flying around when you race.

...800+ cars.

...50+ tracks.

...it's released this year.

...69 Dodge Charger 500 or R/T.

Mmmm...69 Chargers with exhaust flames racing past billowing leaves through 50+ tracks while battling 799+ other cars.

All for free and out soon.

How about R-Class (Racing) in Arcade Mode? GT2 had A - C-Class and the laughable 'S-Class' competition, but not one single class of racing devoted to racing cars ONLY.

hey that makes sense.

It was pretty stupid that if you tuned pretty much any car above 400hp (or somesuch) it got lumped into the S class with monster race cars.

Yeah, I hated that. :yuck:

Yeah, and then for some reason they had a 259bhp Renault Clio Sport alongside monsters like the Vector M12 and Shelby Cobra Coupe. Half the A-Class cars were even more powerful than the stupid Clio so it was a bit of a joke.

R-Class could consist of a few JGTC cars, LMPs and maybe other racers, but would only be available once you completed a certain amount of the simulation side of the game ... after all we don't want to get our hands on them after doing not much in the way of practice.

or maybe the game should just intelligently select oponents instead of picking randomly out of a hat.

I would be really happy if PD has gone to the Vinatge Races, like on this page - 2002 Historics. I got into sports cars back in the late '50s. I'm now about to turn 60 myself!

I want to drive:

a Bizzarrini A3C
a Chaparral
a Cooper Monaco
an Elva Mk.7
a Lotus 23B
a Maserati Tipo 60 (Birdcage)
a Porsche RSK
a Scarab

Now those were sports cars - nice and small - sounded wonderful. If you look at the photos, notice how big the drivers are compared to the cars - they almost look fake - but thats what those cars looked like.

Now that would be a great suprise! :)
And folks, those are fabulous historic racing cars!
And good looking to boot!

Hiya! :D :O  Meow! (='.'=)

You know... I really think Ferrari and Porsche is going to be in and right at this moment...PD probably already HAVE both of them in RIGHT NOW!  :O

Out of all those articles that got printed out with Kazunori Yamauchi stating how Ferrari and Porsche will unlikely make it in or just plain NO! :( I think he is just saying that to get exotic fans dissapointed and to get people to make more specualtion about the statements. Even that other GT:P got people talking again when watching that video to see PD testing Ferraris and Porsches.

IT JUST HAVE TO BE THEIR FINAL SURPRISE! IT JUST HAVE TO! :O:O:O
