2. zexel r33-gtr
3. more gt-300 cars (remeber the only two(!) of them in gt3)

The biggest and best surprise would be if the AI was challenging and intelligent, as promised. I'm not holding my breath:indiff:

What's these stories about "hell, if there are exotics, people will only use them and would not use the normal cars anymore"?

This logic is flawed. Of course, if there are exotics, I will use them gladly, but I'll still enjoy using a Ford Mustang, or an Impreza or an Evo. This logic would mean that because there are race cars, people no more use normal cars, and this is false. Exotics would just be another car category featured in a very well balanced game.

See ya :sly:

"if there are exotics, people will only use them and would not use the normal cars anymore"

What do you care what other people use? does it affect YOUR game? no, people will use whatever they like and if you dont want to then just DONT.

to all the anti-exotics, may never own a ferrari...

Daytona Prototypes? No, no, no NO!!! 👎 I'm aware that my views will draw critical criticism, but here goes.

Daytona Prototypes aren't all that exciting to me. All DPs are are NASCAR's version of getting NASCAR fans into sportscar racing. I think this is the best possible method because most of us aren't aware that the ALMS exists. The American Le Mans Series is the American gateway into the greatest race in the world, the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Sure, Daytona's nice, Indianpolis is pretty cool, NASCAR at Sears Point is interesting, but Le Mans outweighs all. The Daytona Prototypes are basically for people who want sportscar racing, but want it with NASCAR-style racing. So all these Daytona Prototypes are basically for prototype overtaking. You'd might as well take them to NASCAR's road racing events and try to get people into the sport. If I want prototypes, I'd rather get into the ALMS, LMES, maybe I would go as low as SCCA's Sports Racer classes. Daytona Prototypes are basically uglied-up GTP race cars. Daytona Prototypes will never be the second coming of GTP race cars of the last 10 years and then some. Why you'd want them in Gran Turismo 4, I kind of don't see that. Daytona Prototypes are basically for people who can't appreciate Le Mans or sportscar racing, so this mode is more of a different way to look at sportscar racing compared to what it really is. I'd rather watch the Audi R8 win every last race in the world than a Daytona Prototype ruling the in-field road courses at ovals. So basically, they haven't shown the world anything. It's kind of an American-exclusive sportscar. It isn't even a lovely open-top. And if you're going to go closed-top, at least have manufacturers come up with cars in the molds of the Lotus Elise GT1, Porsche 911 GT1, Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR, and that sort of thing. Until Grand-Am can go in a direction where I can not be so overly critical, I'm not impressed with them.

I'm sorry, that's my views. I don't think it would fit with the Toyota GT-One, BMW V12 LMR, and cars like that. So, I don't think so.

It would be great to see PD include Daytona Prototypes.

why would you want a Daytona prototype in a GT4? In my opnion nascar is almost the same as dragracing only with the 45 degree turn (i think)

I wonder what the possibility of qualifying appearing in GT4???

Maybe they could use some kind of qualifying structure, and depending on your qualifying performance the game chooses who you are to race against...

well I think it would be awesome if we got to have flag rules, than cutting track or slaming the car on walls would disqualify you on the qualifying section. It would be cool also to have races that begins with the presentation lap and than starts on the green light (like on IndyR.L. and K.A.R.T.)...

+ I hope there will be engine failures and malfunctions with certain parts... That would be a great surprise to me.

I see I have stirred the soul of the true racing fan….

Let me explain a few things:

1. I am not a NASCAR fan. I use the Nextel Cup races for one thing and one thing only…sleep. Just a few laps and it’s three hours of blissful sleep.
2. Charles Estenlaub. (Mazda not Pontiac GTO)
3. My wife thinks I’m crazy because I had to stay up until 3 a.m. to watch the inaugural F1 race at Shanghai. (This statement is not intended to start an F1 conversation)
4. My first videogame system was Telstar. What does that mean? Nothing. I’m just getting old.
5. Closed top LM: How about the Bentley that won in 2003? (Again, not intended to start a Bentley LM conversation)

I do appreciate you response to the Daytona Prototypes. I don’t mind Grand-Am. Given the choice between it and NASCAR there is no comparison.

Anyway, the real point is we all read and contribute to this board for two reasons. 1. Our passion for cars, no matter what they may be or where they are from and 2. Our appreciation for the Gran Turismo series and what PD has accomplished over the past several years. Regardless of what cars do or do not make the cut (I haven’t seen my 2003 Mazda Protégé 5 yet), GT4 will be a great experience.

Just for informational purposes I have included a picture of a Daytona Prototype for those of you who may be confused and think it is a Nextel Cup car and also the Bentley that won the 2003 24h at Le Mans.

If GT4 were to include VERY LONG races, like 24h, the graphic engine should feature variable lighting and weather. And that is something we haven't seen yet. So it would be a HUGE surprise... but I don't think we'll see this until GT5... so goodbye Le Mans...

Charles Espenlaub (I spelt his last name incorrectly, sorry Charles) is just an example of the type of driver I admire. He is unknown relative to guys like Dale Jr. and Michael Schumacher but he drives in different classes and different cars weekly. He drives a Mazda Protégé and a Mustang in the Speed World Challenge and yes he is now driving the 2005 Pontiac GTO in Grand-Am. The point is I have more respect for guys like Espenlaub, Pobst, Fellows, Kristensen etc. than anyone involved in NASCAR.

I'm hoping that 1 surprise will be that I will finally be able to Race Modify an RUF prefabably the RGT, (supercup/carrera cup kinda way). or the RGT RS.

Thundergod you mention fellows. I've only watched one nextel cup race this year. The only reason I watched it because it was at wakins glen and fellows was driving. Qualifying had been canceled so fellows started last. I watched him rally all the way to second, get a bad pit end up in 10th, rally back to second and just miss catching steward (or maybe gordon I can't remember perfectly) at the finish. He really schooled those overpaid fat cats.

GTPlanet, I noted that Daytona Prototypes are NASCAR's approach to making sportscar racing more exciting. When I was looking up information about EA Sports NCAA Football 2005, NCAA March Madness 2005 (coming soon), and NASCAR Chase for the Cup 2005, take a look at this website:
http://www.easports.com/games/nascar2005/daytona.jsp

So if you want Daytona Prototypes, you may as well go with "NASCAR Chase for the Cup 2005," chicos y chicas (boys and girls). I guess it's safe to say that Daytona Prototypes are purely American. If NASCAR is purely American, so [can] Daytona Prototypes. And when I seen some of the pictures of the cars, they don't have the sponsorship in detail. and I don't sense any rain on the tracks. If anyone's played "NASCAR Chase for the Cup 2005" with Daytona Prototypes, what was it like?

I hope PD don't release any more info or pics until GT4 hits the shops. That way if they release it on 14 Dec it will be the last ultimate surprise.

I'm courious, and this isn't directed only at you, but, Why do people come to the best GT4 info page on the net and say they hope they dont hear any news on GT4? Wouldn't it be easier if you just didn't come here?

Ladies and gentlemen, I have a surprise that may happen. I figured I'd play the game of speculation. A surprise I'd probably want to share is that GT4 will include at least one Australian track. If anything is going to be a surprise, let it be the inclusion of Australian tracks. GTPlanet, just because GT3 only featured the Tickford doesn't mean that Australia isn't going to be fully represented. I basically think that Australia will be the greatest surprise with this logic. Check this:

Recently, a thread was made stating that Seoul, South Korea is going to be a Gran Turismo 4 track. Korean cars will be featured in GT4, and a Korean locale is mentioned. GT3 had a Belgian and an Australian car with no real track to call "home." To me, Australian cars will PROBABLY have a track to call "home." I predict Sydney, Adelaide, Bathurst, Sandown, or Phillip Island will be represented. When I said that at least one Australian track will be in the game, it means that one track may be in, maybe more. If I had to choose which would actually make it, I'd have to say thae beautiful Sydney, Australia would make it along with Bathurst. I don't know about the streets of Sydney, but if it were included, I'd love to see the Sydney Opera House in the distance. I can imagine racing around with sunny, blue skies. If not that, I'd like more of an evening setting. And if you can't have Sydney as a race track, it would make one hell of a Photo Mode locale. Now Bathurst. Bathurst is hilly, yet technical. Having played it in mostly Codemasters games, the track has bursts of high speeds, then some rather ugly turns. Tuned-up rally cars would be perfect for this track expect for high-powered hillclimbers. I think it's a little too challenging for fast machinery.

But if I had to pick a surprise, let it be Australia. And if so, I'd love to see America vs. Australia. Can you imagine the American GTO vs. the Holden Monaro? It would be madness! Eh... any more replies, mate?

The American (I assume you mean Pontiac) GTO and the Holden Monaro are one and the same.

As for an Aussie track - yes, please. Preferably not Sandown as it's rather flat and uninspiring. Bathurst would be fun, it's actually quite narrower than it appears on TV. Coming out of the Elbow at the top of Conrod Straight and blasting all the way down to the Chase at about 330km/h in an LMP has fun written all over it. The other good bit would be from the steep climb that is the Cutting and over the blind high-speed crests at Reid, Sullman and McPhilamy Parks, then hitting the Skyline and down through the Dipper and the Esses.

If you don't know what Bathurst looks like, PM me and I'll send a map.

Sydney? Maybe, but PD would have to choose where they send it carefully. I can see myself blasting across the Harbour Bridge before brakinginto some tight corners before looping back around and crossing the Coathanger again (in the other lanes) and looping around North Sydney. Some nice tricky technical corners, a pair of long straights across the Bridge and some fast corners. And where else should Pit Lane go but Pitt Street?

Well, my dear JohnBM01, I kinda like your speculations. I don't have a clue wether there are any circuits in South Korea, but I sure know that there is the world famous circuit of Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium. I've been there lots of times. I've even driven it with my (previous) car. This circuit is simply beautiful. It lloks like it is carved in the landscape. It has everything that a circuit needs. That's why it is one of the favourite circuits of lots of race drivers. Imagine that you're driving the Vertigo going through the Radillon, full throttle, power sliding, uphill, . . .

Please, lets hope that PD and KY decide to put it in GT4 ! ! !

I've seen Bathurst before, "Do You Race?." So that's fine. Personally, I'd hate to not have Australian fans race perhaps Australia's most famous/most legendary race course. What's the point in racing a V8 Supercar on a course other than one of its native courses? So it's only fitting that in addition to Australian Cars (perhaps more) that more Australian tracks could be implemented so that we can accomplish the objective of going worldwide.

I know our buddy Johnny would like to see some South American venues, but which would you prefer most, Johnny? As for others, carry on if you have something else to include for discussion here.

Let's not forget good old (or BAD old...) Eau Rouge. I don't know if that's the right spelling, but yeah. The bus stop chicane is about as worse.

Was the addition of indy cars in GT3 a surprise?
They were actually Formula 1 cars not Indy's.
They actually look like their actual real life counter part, but that cant be said about their odacious exaggerated overperformance

No, John, I meant ANYONE who hasn't seen Bathurst - you really are missing out one something that ... shouldn't be missed out on. It is the Holy Grail of Austalian Motorsport, our version of the Nurburgring, the jewel in the Crown of V8 Supercars.
