Hi, I'm back again after some days of hard work with GT4.
Some of you asked me to post my first impression of the game to help you with the PAL version.

I'm now at 34% completion and I can tell you guys from the beginning.....THIS IS THE BEST GT EVER, which I couldn't say about GT3.

There are lots of cars, a good amount of the best circuits in the world (La Sarthre 2 long straight! is amazing, so is the Ring). The challenge is better than before and you can tell by the A-Spec points how hard the race is gonna be.
There are lots and lots of very good races and championships in the GT mode, mission hall is very cool but useless for your progress in the game (money wise).

BUGS! and letdowns:

1.
Mileage counter doesnt work when you drive a championship in a-spec mode! So if you start a new champ with a car at 0kms, at the end it still has 0kms, in your progress you also cant see your true kms, I'm at 1700kms now! But I've already done more than 8000km by far. So disappointing....

2.
B-spec mode is more cheating than driving. OK, I can imagine you use it in some of the extreme endurance races (24hrs), but I've only used it like 2 times, I dont like the fact the CPU drives the race for you, if you want that, better watch a freekin race on Eurosport, its about the driving.

3.
Music is incredible, but the songs of Daiki Kasho are really from D.S, this is a mayor let down for the great band D.S!

4.
NOS sucks.

5.
Spoilers are stupid.

6.
The cars are very accurate in driving (I've got DFP and its so damn real), but sometimes the cars bump like 3 meters in the air when you hit a curbstone.

Cant think of any more at the moment, please ask whatever you want!

The game is incredible and timeless.

Hmm, don't like the sound of that, sounds a bit 'backwards' as it worked in GT3.

NOS isn't a bug, nor a negative point. Don't use it, that's all there is to it. the AI will NEVER use NOS, so let it go.

Spoilers are NECESSARY when driving a highly tuned FR, MR, or RR car...what makes you think they suck?

Say rice once and I'll completely disregard your entire "impression" as it was pretty good up until those two points.

They aren't spoilers. They are rear wings you can add, and they mostly look ridiculous on the cars.

If you want to see a bad bug, one of the AI cars in the F1 championship can't pit in tracks that have short pit rows. He'll come flying into the pits and overshoot his pit area. The next lap he'll do it again, and again, and again, and again until he runs out of gas.

Really? :dunce: 👎

^That does sound like quite a serious problem. It would ruin an entire race for me, seeing an AI car becoming "stuck".

Reminds me of one time in the Seattle Enduro on GT3, I raced a Corvette into the pits and he sadly missed out and drove straight into the tyre wall, and for about 25 laps, every time I came round he was stuck head-on into a wall with smoke pouring out of his wheels.

^ I've seen that too but in differnt races.

One other bug I've discovered is in photomode, when your taking driving over a curb and you want to take a photo of that frame, the car shadow doesnt roll along the lines of the curbo, instead, its just a straight line. Kinda like the car is just tilted on its own. If you guys dont know what I mean, I'll see if I can post a pic.

Today is the first time I try it. I don't care about the bugs. The feel is so much better. Only thing I hate is the pace car in License test. Sometimes they just brake too early(crash in to them or pass them) which cause me to fail the test.

I hate Rally race
sometimes I got 5 sec penalty by AI's mistake
so I use a better car to smoke AI then he can't trick me anymore

Rally pissed me off at the start too :p
Sometimes the AI will slide wide and crash into you causing you to take a 5 sec penalty, but overall it's still quite fun. I used the old Impreza Rally Prototype to win the gravel/ice events and the Amuse S2000 R1 for the tarmac events :)

Thats...great. Now if everyone who like the GT series goes out and buys gt4 and opens a new thread so they can tell us that they got GT4, we would have a problem woudn't we?

:indiff: Now , that's what I call for a dissapointment.
Thanks for telling that anyway.

Sounds to me like you're the only one having a problem with it...

One of the guys at the GTX has reported that the spoilers, when added to a street car, improves the downforce, both front and back, and is adjustable in both front and back, even though a front spoiler is not visible.

Sounds like a good thing to me.

Spoilers are stupid.

Finally someone agrees with me, NOS sucks, certainly if you can use it in all the races(dont know this is true)

Spiolers suck too

The only reason they include NOS and wings is because they can feel the pressure of Need for Speed Underground 2 and upcoming games like Forza and Enthousia. Otherwise they would have included it in GT3.

I'm sure GT4 will be the best racing game ever, even with NOS and wings, but please dont insert neonlights and side skirts in GT5

This is my opinion, I know i will get lot's of commentary on this post, but I'm a big boi, i can handle it

You are talking so much BS that it stink even more :dunce:
Just beacuse they include NOS or wings doesn't have to with NFS:U to do with. IMO, wings are some really nice addition.

You are talking even more BS than me. check what u have posted.

If you think i'm talking BS, maybe you can tell me why they have put NOS in GT4 and not in GT3

Why didn't they put in NOS in GT3? OMHFG! What a moron!
There is atleast 1000 reasons why they didn't, like, they didn't thinking about to put it into GT3 or they just didn't wanted to etc...
Back to topic please! ;)

Maybe not the most graphically pleasing addition, but in this case functionality outweighs appearance.

So basically, what I gather from this post, is you buy GT to fake being a car enthusiast, however you still know too little about cars to make good judgement, so you say it sucks because you want to fit into a trend that is not associated with a "ricer".

You my friend, no nothing about cars, nor tuning. Enjoy your GT4 though, especially when you're having a much harder time driving your car than us...simply because you want to save face to a bunch of idiots, who along with yourself, know nothing about automobiles.

The 2001 release of Fast and Furious & the 2003 release of 2Fast/2Furious both showcased the cars that represent the S.C.C.S. (Sport Compact Car Scene as I call it) and everything about what makes this small niche market as popular as it is today and though more fictional then real life, the overall use of NOS and all that goes into pimping out a ride in real life started to trickle over into the games we now play...and it is this same philosphy(adding NOS, Wings/Spoilers & cool paint schemes) that has fuled the success of such games as Need for Speed: Underground and Midnight Club II and Midnight Club 3/Dub Edition which as of right now are the only games I can think of of the top of my head...therefore I do believe there is some truth behind the comment from JohnHannibal, especially when you read the many articles, like this one here that indicate the overall success of NFS:U in the European market:

So, just as real life car tuning & customization increases in populartiy & participation, so will the games we play, regardless if it's for the PS2, GC or Xbox!

NOTE: The GT series has never really catered to the S.C.C.S. (Sport Compact Car Scene as I call it) until now with the release of GT4, in which the use of NOS is now included. Therefore, besides illegal street racing on city streets & Drag Racing, when has NOS ever been used in any other car racing form?
(I'm only asking because I do not know this information, so don't take it like I'm trying to be disrespectful)

Devils advocate If it (NOS) is also included in other games that are selling just as good or better then any previous version of GT, wouldn't it make sense for PD to include NOS in GT4 in a way to ultimately broaden their market audience, which in turn could also strength its own hold on the racing genre market? I don't know! I just wanted to ask this question is all! LOL!

Thank you SimRaceDriver, still 1 clear head around here.

as for the wings, i'm not questioning the aerodynamical capabilities of it!!!
I just think they are UGLY, I dont want to see a big Wing on my 1949 beetle nor NOS, that is my opinion, all you other guys, go ahead, rape the beetle! I will not use it

it doesn't roll because the car is still, that's the problem.

Who gave you that impression? Who said anything about being a car enthusiast
and what is a "ricer". Who are you to say i know nothing about cars ,as for tuning, that depends.
You my friend are a loser, stop attcking me. I will buy GT4 because it will have the greatest collection of cars ever(mostly for the old timers) can't wait to race them.

I'm just saying I think NOS sucks, wings are ugly and I dont like Need for Speed cars in Gran Turismo. Thats my opinion, but i'm sure GT4 will be great!!!

Firstly, I totally agree wit tha_con. I personally am not a big fan of tuning ( mostly because most times they ruin the cars ) but I think the addition of wings is a good thing and N20... well if it exists why not? The fact that you can adjust front downforce with a rear spoiler though is not too realistic.

I have now completed GT4 (100%) and I must say although the game is terrific ( which was exactly what I was expecting ) it has some ugly bugs ( which I wasn't ).

First the AI is still horrid. Eg: Mission 23 the Skylines in the test course brake before each "turn". In the formula championship in the high speed ring there is one car that pits every lap after the first time he attempts it and only manages to refuel when he goes completely out of fuel. Also on this race I was using spec-B and my car went mad ( like a mechanical failure ). I tried it a second time and it never happened again. Both in Laguna Seca and in the driving park tracks the AI has a bug and all cars have a tendency to crash in a certain corner way too frequently.

It bothers me you have to own some cars for them to appear in the arcade mode ( for example the TVR Tamora and most or all second hand cars ). If I have 100% they should all be unlocked.... now if I want all cars available in Arcade mode I have to buy all the second hand crap I find and fill my garage with it.

You can´t race in Las Vegas drag strip in arcade mode and the Citta di Aria isn't available for single races in Arcade mode but it is for the Time Trial and for 2P racing. Also why aren't there any races nor missions in the drag strip. Looks like they just added it last minute and just put it there.

I think the sound of some cars is still not at all realistic ( for example the american mustle cars which should rumble and growl... don't ) and I have managed more than 400km/h in a Shelby Cobra with the rear suspension set to lowest ride height and the front set to the maximum ride height and it didn't take off ( altough it had little or no front end grip ).

Because my version is the chinese one ( I'm a Portuguese in Macao ) I have had to decipher some things and there is some help over the Internet but still I haven´t been able to use my GT Force Pro and I still don´t know how the online play really works.

There is a series of races of some marque ( I don't remember which now ) in which the cups don't appear after you've won the races. And last for now, although there are more than enough cars I think there are vital flaws. The new SLK isn't present but the old one is. The Renault Clio Sport ( apart from being named Lutecia ) is till the 172hp version and not the 182. There is only one Formula car in the game as opposed to about 5 in GT3. There is a Volvo Estate 240GLT but no Nobles let alone Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and original Porsches ( I need a Carrera GT!!! ). But oh you do get a pick-up race series.... c'MON!! With the money these guys are making I think they should feel obliged to pay Ferrari and the lot what they ask for.

I now know the European version will have 12 more cars than the NTSC one ( none are that exciting ) and I do hope they correct all the bugs. As for the AI and the ever missing brands lets hope for GT5. Overall it's a great game but I can't help feeling it has surprised me more in the negative than in the positive side.
Maybe I was just expecting too much.

About the NOS thing and the rear wings/spoilers, it's a bit more street racing but see it this way: you've got normal races, endurances, rally racing, and then you've got street races (well the cars then), if it's a real simulation (like in the real world) street racing isn't like UFO's is it?

And about those Ferrari's and such, it's right that it sounds a bit selfish so who cares about lose a million pounds or wathever for paying ferrari and those brands, you've already paid 80 manufacturers and it's 1 million or something out of the 2 BILLION they will get!!!! Offcourse I really don't know the amounts of money this is going about.

GT4 is still the best game EVER and those errors of the AI, well maybe it seems a bit less AI feel if they make real mistakes then following a racing line again and again with 2 feet difference between them :) 👍

Edit: although they are really unhumanly, alien, stupid mistakes

another thing is

with the same vehicle ur horsepower will jump
sometimes if u just change ur oil ur hp will jump,, and that is when the oils are not dirty, and with only a few short km,, or sometimes just change oil without driving it,, and ur hp will change
