We are here at Tsukuba (pronounced 'scuba') for round 5 of the 2005 JGTC season. The weather has not been co-operative here in Japan as the skies have opened up covered the racetrack with water. We managed to speak to one of the drivers, #18 of the Takata Dome car, as he finished his practice session.

Q: How are the conditions on the track?
A: The conditions are fantastic... for water-skiing. My teammate, Student Driver, has agreed to take me for a whirl if I could find some skis. I am using a couple of spare spoilers we had in the garage.

Q: What do you think of your chances this weekend?
A: Chances of winning? Chances of finishing? or Chances of survival?

Q: All of the above.
A: Winning - slim. Finishing - better. Survival - fair to middlin'

Q: Now that you took a fourth place last week in Tokyo, the fans are expecting you to take the next step onto the podium. Do you think that it will happen this weekend?
A: I could take that step but the podium is soaking wet and I could slip and break my leg.

Q: How are the other drivers adjusting to these conditions?
A: I will let you ask them that question.

Q: So you aren't much liking the weather?
A: Well the rainy season, according to tradition here, is over, but apparently it's not an important tradition as you can tell by the ankle-deep water we are standing in.

Well, that wraps up our interview with a slightly disgruntled #18. Be sure to tune in for the race and vote online at www.vicariousJGTC.com for your favorite driver/car/and track.

WoOoOoO wet driving is so nice! Going drift is awesome, i will surely take away some pounds while trying this in the DFP, countersteering all the time is still making me feel on heaven, this wheel is really worthwhile. :)

Yea driving wheels and pedals for throttle will have an advantage this week, as tire spin control is key to being fast. As far as drifting, slipping and sliding not a good thing unless you like offtrack excursions.

Is there only going to be 1 AI in this race?? Havn't looked but that could be a gooooood thing as it will help keep the penalties to a minimum. Back to "pit type penalties" this week. :yuck:

I thought that team had bee naround for a while.

oh. btw,who chooses the team names? mine and DRIFT4EVA's team name sounds rly ricey. Sorry to moan lol.

if you check the open spot thread I have listed the car I want, but GTFan_2005 isn't online so I can't submit the entry form thing without him.

I already know this place is going to be treacherous...can't wait ;) :dopey: :sly:

KENNY AND PEYTON RETURN TO JAPAN - YET AGAIN

We begin our fifth installment of the Kenny and Peyton Series™ as we embark yet again to Japan.

"Kenny! Look at what I bought off ebay!"

"An F15 ACTIVE? Wow...."

"Yeah, look at the features this baby has."

"Sure beats the glider."

"Yeah - good thing seller pays for shipping! haha"

2 weeks later....

"Crap! It didn't come with the manual!"

"We'll just have to figure it out then. Whoa, look at the ebay auction again. Manual comes with payment of shipping. "

And off into the skies they go, heading towards the land of the rising sun on an all too familiar journey.

"Look! The guys at Midway want us to bring back some teriyaki."

2 hours later...

Mr. Homototo at the Tokyo Protection Agency alerts his boss for the second time.

"Sir! Situation! Incessant fools spotted in jet fighter!!"

"Attack!"

As missiles fly through the air, aimed at bringing down one of America's best fighters, the plane automatically picks up on the two SAM's speedily approaching and engages the defense systems.

"Kenny, why is this red button flashing?"

"Oh, it's probably some stupid check engine light. HA! I always ignore them, just some faulty wiring!"

"Oh, ok. Thanks for the consolation."

"Dude! Two shiny things just shot out of the front of the plane!"

"Good observation, Peyton. I'll write that one down and ponder over it later. WHOA! Hey, Japan is giving us a nice welcome this time with the awesome fireworks! Domo arigatou, Japan-san!"

They land on the mainland on R246, crushing an orange ASL ARTA Garaiya ‘03, still doing laps.

"For the record, that was your smoothest landing yet, Peyton."

*Peyton flashes a big smile*

Peyton slowly taxis the F15 to a nearby hangar. Tokyo police get a tip from an alert citizen that the infidels have returned.

Peyton and Kenny drive off into the distance to the town of Tsukuba, eager with anticipation, and clueless to the surrounding danger.

In other news, MR8 refuses to come back to Japan, due to the Golden Girls Marathon this weekend on Lifetime.

HEHE - love it Kenny

Got my qualifier done, will wait till Wednesday to turn it in, good luck to all, it's really wet and slick out there.

I don't like the rain :(

Never been on this track while it's wet before ... I'm not exactly good at it when it's bone dry, but wet? Phssst.

im here now guys! lol,

sorry bout last night, normally im online but my mate had a leaving party so i was out till midnight..!!

are we going to change the ai difficulty for this race? I wouldn't be surprised to see several of us finish a lap or more behind and not be able to finish the race.

^I had no problem to finish first with the falken gt-r wayyyyy behind me on 5 laps on medium tires so on harder tires I think I should still be ahead of him.

i believe there were no pit stops in your 5 lap race so we should take that into consideration.
