Holy crap. What the hell was he driving? A Megane?

I read that. It’s even funnier because less than a week ago he was telling street racers to slow down – and that they’re not proving anything by going fast on public roads.

What a fool.

ITV should be saying what it is in MPH since ITV is a UK Channel company. And UK's speed is done in MPH.

I sympathise with Fisi. He's going home for an emergency and decides to drive fairly quickly (roughly 92mph in a 38mph zone). If anybody's fit to be driving at high speed on public roads it's well-trained professional racing drivers.

edit: Plus, it was early on a Sunday morning so traffic couldn't have been that heavy

I'd be driving pretty fast if it were my kid, too. But 148 kph in a 60? Hmmm... I'd have to see what that 60 kph zone looks like first. I can imagine doing 80-100, but 148 in a residential zone is insane.

EDIT: Thinking about it, most residential zones are 40 kph... but I've never been in a 60 zone where it's safe to go over 120... no matter what the reason.

if it was an emergency I think its ok , and high fever is bad for small kids

What was he going to do when he got there? Is he a doctor?

The babysitter should have taken him to the hospital, and then Fisi could've driven there in a safe and orderly fashion as his child was in the right place for getting care.

It makes no difference how well trained he is. Doing over 50mph over and above a 40mph limit is insane. There are always other people about.

Exactly. I personally think he should be made an example of. Especially after he said what he said about street racers.

Hyopcrisy if I’ve ever seen it.

well, hell hath no fury like an emotional parent...

i dunno if he just wasnt thinking or if he thought he was above the law or what. that fact that they actualy took it from him shows something right there though.

I've always said that excessive speeding on motorways or in rural areas isn't quite the heinous crime it's made out to be. But if you're in a residential or built up area, then you should really be pretty damn close to the limit.

Whilst we all know that F1 drivers are other-worldly in their abilities compared to normal mortals, I don't think it's acceptable for them to feel that the normal rules do not apply to them. As daan said, what did he think he was going to do about it?

If I'd been that worried about it, I would have told the nanny to expect an ambulance, then called the emergency services. It's what they're there for after all, and they can cope with these situations better than any of us could.

And THE ED3, I agree, but too many people cry "my child my child" as some form of justification for abdicating all common sense and rationality.

he was clearly taking a page from sato's book. going way to fast in the wrong place... hes lucky he didnt rear end anyone...

No, not very.

I mention this only for comparison, but near me there are several 40mph dual carriageways and one 30mph three/four lane road. All are "safe" to do 90mph on, in that you can reach that speed with plenty of space around you and pedestrians are "unlikely" to be there. So it's not really that simple to say 90 in a 40 is barking mad, but it is silly, the likelihood is also that it is dangerous and it's very, very illegal.

Obviously I don't condone it either.
