Well, it's impossible to create a to scale Mission Raceway, but my very rough recreation is up on my community page

Did you notice that the narrower the track the tighter you can make the turns. I wish you could vary the width and also make 90 degree turns. But needless to say I am having fun creating tracks out of my old neighborhood roads. But the best tracks I have created so far are ones from scratch. So after my first creation I'm pretty happy with it for the most part. There are enough tools that give you enough control that you don't feel like you're just snapping together a slot car track. My only complaints are very specific to what I was trying to achieve. Even though I ended up with a 2-mile course, my intent was to design a kart track. With that said, it's a bit difficult to make a kart specific track because you really need a lot of relatively tight turns and the software only allows the lanes to be place so close to one another. That made it a bit difficult. Also, the standardized 200m front stretch doesn't help my cause either, but that's really about it. @Kgffy and @JamCar0ne both seemed to enjoy the layout and challenge. We did notice a bit of a lag issue here and there. It's a bit bumpy and requires some patience, but it has character and I think that's one of the most important aspects of a racetrack. Good stuff! About dang time though...![]()
There are many tracks up on share already. Take a look at your friends share lists if you are unable to make something at the moment.
This is the biggest thing. You're gonna wanna tweak little things and it's taking a really long time just to test out, see if it's good, go back, tweak it, test it, repeat... That's a problem.Would of made alot more sense if they made the track creator to be just for in game, not this Ios or iphone nonsense.
Seriously? You can't change the main straight? At all? With any track?
Also, who has tracks made? I want to fool around tomorrow on my day off.
Would you really be able to make an exact replica of a track? Can you control every minute detail of the turns and straights with elevation and turning radii? If so, you can still do that but have the main straight be different, I'd be okay with that. It's still pretty much the same.Nope. Can't change the main straight. I'm thinking this and some of the other limitations was a workaround for licensing issues. Can you imagine the backlash if we were able to make exact copies of real world tracks and the track owners not get paid for it?
Really really close will have to be close enough then. Maybe people will combine tracks like COTA did and have the greatest turns from different real tracks put together.
can do some interesting things with that but it means I can't make Bristol or any other short tracks.
I tried Miller Motorsports kart track but it is to close for it to workWhat about that Eifel Flat feature? Has anyone tried recreating their local kart place's layout?
I just spent a bit of time trying this for VIR, and came pretty close, minus the final section of turns. They were too tight to match up with the set straight away so I had to improvise. Otherwise, its pretty close. Real track is 3.24, mine came out to 3.38. I researched the front straight length, and used the scale and grid to get close by pinching the overlay to needed size. From there, its just tracing. I had fun with this, and will have more to add very soon. Give my VIR a try and let me know what you think. From what I've read, on Eifel flat layout, you can load images as an overlay, and trace your track out overtop of it. I might give it a try tonight.
The track width is annoyingly important when it comes to getting the tight corners right, if only we could adjust width by section like in GT5...I just spent a bit of time trying this for VIR, and came pretty close, minus the final section of turns. Welcome back T.
The driver's list still shows you as part time for D5.

@RobbiefromBC I gave it a shot trying to get Mission Raceway closer to the right length. It's still too long, but now it's also very narrow lol... But it's 1.8mi which is a lot closer to the 1.35mi length of the real thing. The straight is just too long and takes up too much space...
It should be on my page now.

Normal kart tracks are 8m wide.Yes, that's one other thing that I'm not particularly fond of; not being able to change width by section. I made "Aurora" 11m wide because I wanted room to race. You can go down to 6m, but that's too narrow to "race" even for karts. That's more for hillclimbs and such... like Pikes Peak. Ooo, there's an idea.
Also, you can do a 90. You just have to figure out how to manipulate the section. My turn 1 is nearly a 90, and tight.

Unless we find a kart track with a straight THAT long, we won't be able to make good tracks :/Cool. Width is deceiving in-game.
