So after my first creation I'm pretty happy with it for the most part. There are enough tools that give you enough control that you don't feel like you're just snapping together a slot car track. My only complaints are very specific to what I was trying to achieve. Even though I ended up with a 2-mile course, my intent was to design a kart track. With that said, it's a bit difficult to make a kart specific track because you really need a lot of relatively tight turns and the software only allows the lanes to be place so close to one another. That made it a bit difficult. Also, the standardized 200m front stretch doesn't help my cause either, but that's really about it. @Kgffy and @JamCar0ne both seemed to enjoy the layout and challenge. We did notice a bit of a lag issue here and there. It's a bit bumpy and requires some patience, but it has character and I think that's one of the most important aspects of a racetrack. Good stuff! About dang time though... :)

Did you notice that the narrower the track the tighter you can make the turns. I wish you could vary the width and also make 90 degree turns. But needless to say I am having fun creating tracks out of my old neighborhood roads. But the best tracks I have created so far are ones from scratch.

Which track is gravel, snow, or mixed surface?

Interesting idea, I am shocked that it was delivered. Unsurprised it was... Inaccessible to many, and not quite as flexible as hoped, but something was delivered. Yippee?

I have an iPad, downloaded the app, mucked around on a track, but need to recall what email I use since "auto sign in" is enabled. I would try it out, but I am just getting done with this week's paperwork.

Crappy start to the year. I may have to go on hiatus.

There are many tracks up on share already. Take a look at your friends share lists if you are unable to make something at the moment.

@RobbiefromBC
Your oval road course was cool and would be interesting done on flat.

Just a easier and quicker to use the friends list while in the game. Some people don't want the extra fuss.

I am a little disappointed that I won't be able to make a skidpad.

Would of made alot more sense if they made the track creator to be just for in game, not this Ios or iphone nonsense.
This is the biggest thing. You're gonna wanna tweak little things and it's taking a really long time just to test out, see if it's good, go back, tweak it, test it, repeat... That's a problem.

I've got six different ovals built. I will be testing and tweaking them tomorrow. My eyes are a little fried after working on the iPad. They range from .94 miles and flat with tight corners to 1.99 miles high banked with long sweeping corners. I have one that I will try and make into a Darlington type course and a couple of tri-ovals of different size and banking. Once you get the hang of it, it's pretty easy to use. My only real complaint is the fixed distance of the start/finish straight.

I'm thinking a 1.5 mile wth an Indy Speedway layout is going to possible and might make for some good Rocket racing.

Seriously? You can't change the main straight? At all? With any track?

Also, who has tracks made? I want to fool around tomorrow on my day off.

Nope. Can't change the main straight. I'm thinking this and some of the other limitations was a workaround for licensing issues. Can you imagine the backlash if we were able to make exact copies of real world tracks and the track owners not get paid for it?

Would you really be able to make an exact replica of a track? Can you control every minute detail of the turns and straights with elevation and turning radii? If so, you can still do that but have the main straight be different, I'd be okay with that. It's still pretty much the same.

Good news is that my mom has a small tablet that's getting repaired and it may work there.

I got course maker working on my smartphone, but is anyone else running into the problem where things you place around the track randomly disappear/parts of the track randomly are locked out that weren't before even though the only thing I changed was on the other side of the track?

That's my point. Pretty much the same and spot on replicas are the difference, for PD, between being sued and losing to being able to say they didn't provide the tools to make exact copies. It makes business sense for PD as most tracks are owned by corporations with deep pockets and expensive lawyers looking for things like this.

Don't get me wrong. There are going to be guys out there that get really, really close to real world tracks but they won't be quite perfect copies.

Really really close will have to be close enough then. Maybe people will combine tracks like COTA did and have the greatest turns from different real tracks put together.

We agree on something. That might be a first.

I can see some of the drag racers building a series of straights connected by the tightest hairpin they can make so they can run drag run after drag run. Put a curb at each end to mark the start and finish and all they're missing is the lights.

We've agreed before and don't be so shy to in the future. I say some silly things but most of the time I'm a reasonably smart human being. I'm just not great at communicating that.

can do some interesting things with that but it means I can't make Bristol or any other short tracks.

Yes that sucks! That was one of the tracks I wanted to attempt to make as well cause this game lacks some REALLY good tracks as far as ovals go. Looking forward to testing your tracks. Love oval racing!
Left Turn Only. 👍

In time there will be some great tracks. People will perfect this.

Side note: There's a Honda and Acura NSX Concept. Are both acceptable?

From what I've read, on Eifel flat layout, you can load images as an overlay, and trace your track out overtop of it. I might give it a try tonight.
I just spent a bit of time trying this for VIR, and came pretty close, minus the final section of turns. They were too tight to match up with the set straight away so I had to improvise. Otherwise, its pretty close. Real track is 3.24, mine came out to 3.38. I researched the front straight length, and used the scale and grid to get close by pinching the overlay to needed size. From there, its just tracing. I had fun with this, and will have more to add very soon. Give my VIR a try and let me know what you think.

Did you guys know that there are sample tracks in game? The first three tracks are really fun. The flat one isn't even 100% even the whole way. It's got a nice rhythm as well.

Unfortunately they are not available online otherwise we'd have three new tracks to play with!

The track width is annoyingly important when it comes to getting the tight corners right, if only we could adjust width by section like in GT5...

@RobbiefromBC I gave it a shot trying to get Mission Raceway closer to the right length. It's still too long, but now it's also very narrow lol... But it's 1.8mi which is a lot closer to the 1.35mi length of the real thing. The straight is just too long and takes up too much space...

It should be on my page now.

Other than the front straight, it is quite a narrow track, especially from the entry to turn 4 to the quick chicane of 7-8. Exit of 8 into 9 gets wider.

Yes, that's one other thing that I'm not particularly fond of; not being able to change width by section. I made "Aurora" 11m wide because I wanted room to race. You can go down to 6m, but that's too narrow to "race" even for karts. That's more for hillclimbs and such... like Pikes Peak. Ooo, there's an idea.

Also, you can do a 90. You just have to figure out how to manipulate the section. My turn 1 is nearly a 90, and tight.

Normal kart tracks are 8m wide.

Cool. Width is deceiving in-game.
Unless we find a kart track with a straight THAT long, we won't be able to make good tracks :/

You guys can try to make a few tracks (search this in google maps):
Sologne Karting
Circuit Jean Brun Karting
Cap Karting

All of them are 1500m.
