I've received and seen a couple of "requests" to be moved or left in a division for the upcoming season. I'll let you in on a little secret. I don't even look at names when I'm doing promotion and relegation. I look at the numbers that are needed to balance each division and I look at the numbers as it applies to your most recent results on Sunday nights.

After it's all built and ready to go, I'll take a look at the names just to be sure there isn't anything too unusual going on with driver movement. It's really a numbers driven process so asking to be in one division or another doesn't have any effect on what gets done.

And nor should it. Good, level racing isnt a popularity contest or a time to hang out with friends. It's a serious competition on Sundays.

Although the notion of course creator finally being integrated into the game is all fine and dandy on the surface, the fact that we're required to use an entirely separate device just to take advantage of the "update" is ridiculous.

I suppose my next paycheck will be going towards an iPad, then? -___-

If anybody wants to be cool as ****, the roads I was planning on recreating for the game myself are as follows...

GMR (frontside/backside), Azusa Canyons (all the way up to Crystal lake), & Baldy ridge road. I know every inch of these areas. ;)

On a side note, now that GT6 has pretty much came full circle and revealed it's incredibly half-assed nature, that PS4-compatible wheel money will be better spent going towards a bucket seat for muh passenger(s)

Can't argue with car mods, however, PC?

Bruh, sub 8 minute runs through all 12 miles of frontside's downhill every time :) I live a legitimate 10 minutes away from there...
EDIT: just realized you were blueninja in the game, we've had this discussion before 👍

I have yet to play Project Cars, so until I do (and get a good idea of the online popularity) I doubt my plans will change. GT6 and Netflix are the only use my PS3 really gets anyway (never been a video game person) so this all might just be one big night cap for me in terms of sim racing.

I got into using a wheel in GT5 long after I was running canyons anyway so it's not like this is my only outlet...which would be really depressing

PCARS is worth getting a new wheel for. Soooo much better than GT6. The main reason I don't play it is time, but it's really hard to be competitive with a controller too. It's a bit frustrating.

Once you make it i'll be there with you.

No no, by PC I meant computer.
Ohhhh ok, that was my first guess but considering the talk of project cars in this thread every now and then I just assumed it as such...

I've considered it, but it would only be for iRacing and even then the question would be if whether or not I wanted to continue* paying for it.

Interesting.

One thing that makes me apprehensive about diving into other racing games though is how "realistic" the physics may or may not be. I'm so used to what GT feels like that I can't help but think that others wouldn't be as satisfying...I should probably step out of my comfort zone then

As a controller guy I don't have the same "feel" for game physics as most of ya'll, but it certainly seems more realistic. Far less forgiving. Very difficult to regain control after the balance is lost. I still enjoy GT6 solely due to the comradery of this league. The racing is fun, but the realism is very dated now.

I've always wondered about your processes, when it comes to this particular aspect of Snail.

Thank you for the clarity @JLBowler

I'll remember to let my race craft do the talking.

Ps.: I've noticed D1 is typically short on active drivers on any given night.
Feel free to throw me into the frying pan after you have carefully run the numbers

Before I even type a word,
anyone who thinks different than what I say,
I welcome and encourage you to voice your opinion. & remember, nothing & no one is considered perfect. Also my essay here is not direct solely at you @Inconspicuous

Addressed: to the people who constantly bash GT at every turn, (no pun)

- It is good & very important to have your own specific/objective opinion(s),

*but to call what GT has done with their 6th version, "incredibly half-assed" seems to imply that you think putting all this together, and making it work seamlessly, is somehow easy.
(Correct me if you don't think it's easy)

Remember, PD break new ground with every game they make. There is no example, no template for such a uniquely styled game.
In fact, GT has become the template for all the imitators.

The PD team are driven by Kaz to strive for improvement and technological innovation,
that is sometimes out of reach for the present day capabilities.

Now, Is that not what you guys want?

Everything we have now was put on paper way back in the days of GT4.
They think way far ahead & I consider it (+) thinking, as you should too.

I won't defend PD taking quite so long to create these additions to the game,
but can people not understand why these things might take a while? Or longer than expected? Seems like people think they're baking a cake or something here.

GT is an immense and complicated program.
It is totally mind boggling to consider how the hell they actually make it all work so damn well. Simple enough for a young child or an idiot, to have serious fun with.

With thousands of technical employees and developers on staff, GT6 is what PD was able to do with the PS3; while still working on an entirely different game & platform simultaneously. ***But so many people, inside and outside this forum, seem to take it all for granted, & greedily expect more.

*I for one, am impressed and satisfied.
The physics ARE top notch, visuals-top notch
Gameplay- top notch again,
online... Still top notch & bordering on remarkable; simply for us being able to do what we do every weekend.

The raw amount of criticism and negativity I see & hear directed toward PD and the GT series absolutely disgusts me.

For a host of valid reasons, GT cannot be compared or stacked-up to any other game or Sim.

Remember that,
so you aren't surprised when GT7 blows you away.

Opinions are just opinions. We each have our own. & I know most drivers aren't so negative about the way they have developed this game.

If you do not agree, & you think PD have done something wrong, calmly tell me why-
& be prepared to back it up.

Sincerely, MG
-to all the PD haters

Put simply... It's just new. It looks newer than GT6. It sounds newer than GT6. It does have it's issues, don't get me wrong, but as far as "first glances" are concerned it looks and sounds and feels more realistic. I'm still miffed by the fact that I cannot add practice or qualifying to online events when a kart track is selected and I feel like the only a-hole who gives a rats asz, but that's my only major gripe at the moment. :)

If GT7 can merely match PCars visually, audibly, and physically; it will be a better "game" that will appeal to a broader audience.

Word, I've heard very few negatives about it, thank you for going into detail!

I only asked, because I actually have a chance to try it out at a friend's house today!!!!!

As a fan of racing games, I am seriously excited to try out the current "best of the next gen".

Sucks I can't bring over the G27 to play properly, but I'm still confident in my controller wielding skills.

If anybody is interested in watching some good SCCA National Championship racing, check out the Formula F race won by Mission's very own Rick Payne, and the Formula Vee race won (unsurprisingly) by Michael Varacins. Both races featured to the line nail biting action!

PCars improved my driving skills because it is much more unforgiving if you don't take your corners well BUT I am effen done with effen PCars because I can't complete an effen race without the effen game freezing up on me - PC version

I'm thoroughly enjoying GT6 - mainly the SNAIL portion and my frequent private endurance races with family and a friend. Kinda look forward to GT7 but I won't hype about it.

And that is my 2 pennies worth

Wut? Take it for granted? That's absurd. Polyphony Digital is a for profit company and as such they are going to have to take criticism and praise from their customers. Having played Gran Turismo since the first release, I can say that I'm a fan of the series. That said, GT6 is the weakest title in the series.

The raw amount of criticism and negativity I see & hear directed toward PD and the GT series absolutely disgusts me.

Why? Do you work for PD/Sony? Paying customers have a right to complain if they feel that they did not get what they were sold.
