I am right there with you. I would love to get a wheel but I feel i am a decent driver as be it

Just be warned, if you have highly developed contoller skills there could be a bit of a learning curve adapting to the wheel and pedals. What you will have working for you is the understanding of race lines, brake points, turn in etc. But controlling the car with your hands/arms and feet/legs will obviously be very different than doing it with your fingers and thumbs.

Oh I am completely understanding of this...but I always welcome a challenge. I just think it would be a great thing to do and make me a bit more consistent.

My only question is t 300 t150 pro or g29 everywhere I read they all have there ups and downs

I really liked my G27, and went to the T300 from that and really enjoy it, but I always wonder if I should've went with the G29.....

T150, G29, T300...all of them more fun than using a controller.
I used a controller from GT1 to GT5. Switched to a G27 6 months into GT5 and it changed the game from a casual past time to a hobby.

I still remember the day I received my G27. I had no idea of how to mount it and if it was worth it. Set it up on a coffee table. It was very awkward to use.

I had been struggling to gold the Nascar events. Took the car on track at Daytona and Golded everything effortlessly. It felt incredible and blew my mind. Ordered the Wheelstand Pro within a week.

I'd go G29. Or T300 with Pro pedals. On a budget ...100% G29.

If on a budget, I think the T150 with G27 pedals is the best solution. You get a 1080 degree wheel vs 900, belt and gear driven FFB vs just gear driven FFB, and the G27/G29 pedals have a higher resolution when used with a thrustmaster wheel. All for about the same price as a T150 Pro or G29.

I'm not sure how easy it would be to get the pedals but yeah that would be awesome budget gear. Probably need to get a Drivehub? That's another 100 bucks.

In my opinion, the G27 pedals are a lot better than standard T3PAs. Build quality is a lot better, and the brake feels a lot better, especially after adding the GTEYE brake spring.

I just googled G27 pedals and saw a $52 ebay link when I was looking at wheel prices.

Keep in mind, he would still need the $20 ricmotech adapter to make them work on a Thrustmaster product. But IMO the $10 extra over a T150 Pro package for the G27 pedals is worth it, they feel much better, and the carpet catch is a lifesaver. I have my T3PAs blocked from sliding with old shoes.

Need to see a picture of that set up.

The only problem is that the POTs do wear out on well used G27 pedals and end up spiking. New gear would last longer.

My setup is a hilarious jumble of a sewing machine desk, a normal desk in front of it and a padded folding chair.

But fancy doesn't buy fast. ;)

Also, if he got a drive hub he could use pretty much any combo of wheel pedal shifter he can find on the cheap.

@Rednose58 @SAMHAIN85 I can host practice tonight for D1-D2.

👍

I’m in a pickle here, guys...

I'm coming up on 1 year of racing with a wheel/pedal setup and I'm so glad I took the plunge. Part of me was apprehensive about it since I spent so much time on the controller. I never turned a single lap in GT 3/4/5/6 with a wheel.

I picked it up pretty quickly and my enjoyment for the game increased dramatically. I highly suggest you and any other controller users reading this (yes you @Kgffy ) seriously consider investing in a setup.

@MSgtGunny posted a link for T300's on sale for black friday and I pulled the trigger. I saved a boat load of money on black friday. Its right around the corner so nows a great time to seriously consider it. Good luck

Yeah, black friday is definitely the time to buy. I got mine on black friday last year at https://www.bhphotovideo.com. I got my whole current setup for $400, $300 of it was the T300 Pro alcantara set and $100 for the TH8A, right now the wheel is $470 and the shifter is $170.

I found a website last year that had wheel prices graphed over a year, I'll try to find it for you @RacingOtaku86

Practice room is open. Only a few have shown up for D3-D4 practice past 2 weeks so it might be just one room tonight, do not know.

Edit: Have the room listed for D1D4.

I should say considering how much you play GTS, stay away from the G29. It's a great wheel...for every other game. I find it incredibly difficult to modulate any braking or accelerating with this wheel. It's like an on/off switch. Spend a little extra for something with better PS4/GTS support.

I understand the accelerating but the nonlinear throttle issue applies to all pedals. The braking issue is kinda new. Possibly the rubber insert is giving you a problem, especially if your pedals are not hard mounted

Not hard mounted but braced. If that throttle issue is for all wheels though why does only GTS feel this way? My wheel feels much much better on AC and PC1 and 2. Honestly (blasphemy incoming) it also feels better on Forza 7...though everything else is pretty bad there XD

GT Sport has a nonlinear throttle. Basically 50% to 100% throttle is applied in the last 25% of pedal travel...something like that. It's not your pedal. Its the game. Link is in my signature.

And my guess regarding the brake, never having used the G29 but I have used a Nixim modded G27, the rubber insert requires a lot of force to use properly and effectively. If you aren't engaging it fully it would probably mess up braking modulation and that's why people remove it or upgrade to the GTEYE brake spring.
