So I've been vilified for asking for a timely manner to the Prize Selection Process? I can understand how some of the snail members would think I'm just being a pushy, witchy person, but there is a reason why I was asking for and even pushing for a prize selection to be made.
I have thoroughly read the SNAIL OLR, Policies, and Guidelines, very carefully, regarding Section 5.2 - Prize. There is no mention of when prizes are to be selected. Why not? The powers that be have taken the time to go through a lot of the "what if" scenarios, but there is currently a potential issue of abuse of a prize winner. I wasn't going to into detail about it, but since I'm a "minority portion of the snail members, and thus I must not have any real valid reason for being impatient with the prize selection, I will expose the potential exploit that is currently written in the rules and is just waiting to be used. I'm hopeful that by exposing it, the leaders of SNAILS will fix this issue before it's allowed to be used.
This is not the first time I have pointed out a flaw in the rules of SNAILS. The first time I tried to point out to ZER05IVE and others of a major flaw in the point system rules of SNAILS. The Old-School members know what I'm talking about. I asked and begged the rules for the point system to be changed but was told the 'flaw' would Never happen. Oddly enough, it happened shortly afterward. The flaw in the point system was then realized when it happened and seriously changed the point structure of the pointed rewarded because the pointed was based on how many drivers were in a Race at the finish rather than the number to racers that started the race. The more drivers in a race, the more points you would earn. There was a major issue with connectivity and over half the racers were disconnected from the lobby, and robbed the remaining racers of pointed needed to win the season. That event prompted an immediate change in the point system that is still used to this day. I had pointed out a flaw but I was told to forget about it. I was 100% right about the flaw, but no one wanted to believe it would ever happen - until it did.
Skip ahead to recent events - my post regarding the time frame for prize selection. I have been asking for a timely manner for prize selection for a good reason, but yet, I've been made out to be the pushy, impatient witch. There is potential for abuse and thus an unfair advantage to the prize winner when we have a break in the normal SNAIL Racing events on Sundays. A framework from after the race & prize winner announcement would be the best way to prevent the potential for abuse. I'm not saying RacingOtaku86 was planning to do this - I'm saying the potential is there for someone to take advantage of this.
* The way JLBolwer and others have stated the time is currently set up, the prize winner has to make the selection by the Wednesday before the race. This is no big deal if we race every week. But when we have a break (like we did this week), then the prize winner has an extra week to do whatever they would like. The prize winner could test more potential combos than they normally would - or worse yet, the prize winner could already know what combo they are going to pick and practice without anyone else knowing the selection that is going to be made. This gives the prize winner a potential advantage and would place the rest of the SNAIL members at a disadvantage.
* I suggest we force a time deadline for prize winners to make their selections known from after the race & prize winners are announced (the Wednesday following the race, period). This would keep SNAIL members up-to-date with all prize selections in a timely manner, and in the event of a break from racing, due to holidays, then everyone has the information and would be able to practice with no advantage by any one person or group of persons.
* If the timeframe to select a prize has expired, then that prize winner should be considered MIA and an alternative method to making a selection should be performed immediately. (I'm assuming there are alternative means to make a selection?)
I realize this potential advantage abuse is limited in nature, but the potential is there. If you read the SNAIL OLR, Policies, and Guidelines it's clear when you consider the times we have breaks in the racing schedule.
To the leaders of SNAIL:
Now that this exploit is public, this should force you to take actions to patch the hole in the rules regarding the lack of a Timeframe relating to Prize Selections.
Hopefully, you will not let history repeat itselg, again by waiting until this exploit to be used, like you guys waited until the Point-System failed like I told you it would and it did.
@RacingOtaku86 - I never wanted you to feel like I was picking on you. I was trying to get you to make a selection to avoid the potential issue I found in the rules regarding Prizes. I have no issue with you making a prize selection - I never have. I'm hopeful you now see why I was pushing for a selection to be made.
I don’t want to argue over this anymore.
I’m more concerned about the divisional placement for us in September.
