Cool stuff. One of our dispatchers was showing me - probably the same sim- one like this that involved an A-10. As a matter of fact, I think it was only an A-10 sim. F-ing incredible stuff.
About 10 years ago I was looking for a good combat flightsim - PC, console, whatever. I had been big into them in the 90s and was looking for something similar, but there was nothing that wasn't an arcade game.
In the 90s there were several I enjoyed. Red Baron 3D was the best, and my favorite. Excellent physics and gameplay/career mode. Graphics were very good for the time, and you could design and upload your own 'liveries'. (t was like the PCars/GTS combo of air combat). I chose to be 'Ernst Kessler' from my favorite movie - 'The Great Waldo Pepper'. I flew for the Fatherland and all of my aircraft had yellow and black checkerboards in the wings in some sort. I think I did 90 some kills- I was bloody lethal in my Albatros D.V, in spite of it's limitations.
EF-2000 was really cool too, and then there was USAF and WWII fighters - both by 'Jane's' Excellent all around, physics and graphics wise. Plus, like PCars, you could fly some of the greatest machinery in history.
And to round it off, I used CH Products' programmable stick, throttle and pedals. It really made it all very immersive, especially for that period of gaming.
I still wouldn't mind a good combat flightsim, but in general, I'd rather win races than blow Sh$t up.

Oh yeah - and 'Crimson Skies'. Fairly Arcadey, but just really cool - I loved it for it's Art Deco/Steampunk feel - man I'd love to play that again - or a racing game like it.

:gtpflag: Cars and Tracks for April 1st (week 100) :gtpflag:

We will run McInnis's combo this week. Thanks Shaun!

Four race format at Red Bull GP and National. (Details later in the week)

My first ever Fltsim was F-16 falcon which I ran on my old 286 with 2 count em, 2 megabytes of ram. After that as my computers got better, Microsoft Flight Sim came out and I was hooked. I’ve owned every version since. I literally learned to fly on the sim.
Nowadays, X-plane 11is the go to sim for realism, especially in VR. Every knob (Colts), and switch is operational. Graphics are incredible.......if you have a super fast computer to take advantage of full scenery settings.

How’s about formation flying?

I had an early one called F-117 - on a 386 I think. Then I had the first or one of the first MSFS. There was a section where you could design your own plane. My buddy and I made one that looked like the F-20, weighed 1,000 lbs and had 50,000 lbs of thrust. We called it the BOOH - Bat Out Of Hell. It Could reach 50,000 feet in under a minute but was unstable as hell.
Besides that it sorta taught me about flying - I already knew a little form Civil Air Patrol. I used to fly around Meigs field a lot.

Here’s the rig I set up for War Thunder and Ace Combat 7. I wish they’d make more PS4 flight sims and have them in VR. Ace has some decent VR gameplay, but it’s pretty arcade. War Thunder allows you to fly Arcade, Realistic or Sim which is cool. As a bonus, it has air races as a game mode. Plus it allows and supports head tracking, MFD (“button box”), HOTAS/Rudder pedals, etc. all on a free game. Doesn’t make sense why games you have to buy don’t have VR or at least head tracking…I’m looking at you, Project Cars!

Wow, that is **** hot! You're pretty much a genius for coming up with that head tracking. The decals and all on your rig are great - I remember your pictures before of your room with all it's movie posters - it's the best.
I keep telling Janice I am going to turn the house into a Tiki bar, but she is resistant for some reason. I guess it will just have to happen in my hobby room.

Thanks Sam and GT. You definitely need to do a Tiki Bar themed game room! That’d be awesome and appropriate for Hawaii.
I saw a video of guy from Spain who set up the head tracking so I just translated it best that I could to copy how he did it. Messing around building stuff is a hobby when I’m not working around the house or on my cars. I’m finishing up a PS3-based arcade cabinet, unfortunately the existing piece of furniture I’m basing it on needs to stay where it is (houses some of the pool electronics and outside speaker controls) so I’m limited on how I can mod it. And I’m still slowly figuring out the motorcycle sim rig I want to build. Next “real” project is going to be building an old school style cafe racer motorcycle.

Don't know if any of you guys are fans of America's Got Talent, but a couple seasons ago there was a season finalist comic named "Tapeface". He's a mime/prop comic that my son absolutely adored. So when he announced an American tour I booked tickets to see his show as close as possible to our city. So we watched his show tonight in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Not sure if any of you caught the political news, but President Trump did a rally tonight in... You guessed it, Grand Rapids, Michigan - at the same time - LITERALLY across the street from the venue we were at. I had no idea until I had to pass a security check to park at our Holiday Inn this afternoon. The comedy show we saw was awesome, my son couldn't have been happier, which in turn makes me just as happy as a clam.

But the "stuff" we saw while walking back to our hotel after the Tapeface show and President Trump rally was just disturbing. Our country is more polarized than I thought, and just angry. On top of that, I don't understand the connection between political rallies and partying. We witnessed a lower-middle-aged drunk woman sitting on the sidewalk, legs spread, peeing through her jeans, a dude hanging out of his Ford Raptor puking his guts out, another lady hanging out of a car window screaming "Eff Trump". Those were just the belligerent people, but a significant proportion of the rally crowd was intoxicated - in the streets, back at the hotel bar, and even in the hallways. An educational night for my son and I for sure. I told him, "this is the mess we're going to pass on to you kids"

It was cool to see the behind the scenes stuff that gets left out of news coverage. And I'll admit the security detail was nothing short of amazing. I'm sure @GUTTERBOY3007 is fully aware of most of the measures taken, which are probably so much more than what's visual. But the visual presence in itself is just friggin' fantastic. Cars, trucks, bikes, horses, foot patrols, dump trucks with battering rams on the front, just wild.

Sounds like quite a crazy night Jeff.
Hey Bear, @yogi bear Do you happen to watch “The Grand Tour”? This weeks episode features a piece on the 917. James May takes one for a drive, but they also have an ex racer ( wasn’t familiar with him, Dicky ?) and he drives the 917 against a new 911. Was a good segment.

Unfortunately, no. My tv box messed up and I have to wait for my son to do his Oglala boogala on it.
Mabey they will have it on u tube.
And wow Great Lakes saw more wildlife than I did by the sounds of it.
The moose are kinda roudy this time of year, the returning geese are making a hell of a racket but nothing like what Great Lakes described. I suppose my relatives that are waking up from hibernation look kinda drunk, but they are pretty quiet, don't puke or piss themselves. But you sure don't want to poke them.

I agree, looking from "outside" there is a lot of hate between your political groups, BUT.....
Come on, admit it, this is what was REALLY happening....

People are ridiculous anymore about lots of things. The political arena has become a den of hatred, and for no good reason. It used to be people would simply have different idealogies. There might have been some minor dislike, but now it's so prevalent that if a person or group of people have a different view, they are 'idiots'. It's an elementary school mentality.

All part of being naked apes I guess.

Saw this in the parking lot leaving work today. Had to stop and take a picture. I bet you this guy is so glad he bought this cattleguard for his truck. An ounce of prevention. . . and nary a scratch!

Found it...Dickie Atwood. He raced the 917 at lemans... he's 78 years old now.
Was cool to watch a 49 year old car being driven by a 78 year old guy, and giving the new Porsche and young driver a run for his money. It didn't sound like Dickie was really winding the old girl out tho. Probably instructed not to. That 917 engine is probably worth more than the entire gt3 Porsche.

@Aero: I sent you a PM with my car & track selection.

And after watching the F1 race I stopped by a bike get together. A guy is selling a mint 1975 TZ750, but $39k is a little too rich for my wallet. And there was an RC40 (NR750) there, too. It’s only the second one I’ve ever seen in real life before. $60k in 1992, $100k+ now. Ouch!

The NR’s rarity, value and oval pistons aside, if I had to choose between the two I wouldn’t hesitate taking the TZ! I still have vivid memories of King Kenny, Stevie Baker and Mike Baldwin tearing up the rear rubber on those things in the day!
Still, I would have stood and drooled at both of them :D

My Godson takes it on the chin. TG he’s ok. No concussion.

Paulie's not a scrapper! He's a workhorse and fast, but I've never known him to be a brawler. I actually kinda keep tabs on him knowing that you are related Mike. He reminds me of the Red Wing's Darren Helm. 110% every shift. Might not be a marque player, but NHL quality to the core . Glad he didn't suffer a concussion, looked a little wobbly there.

I'm not into bikes but that Yamaha is beautiful.

The Porsche was a lot of fun in Australia tonight - and depending on who you ask, the Panoz was too. That 961 launched like a rocket! Apolgies to Shaun M. for pulling over into you at the first race start- I thought I was well past- as well as the one or two others (Gutter) that I traded paint with. Had some great door to door with Bear, always a great time racing with you.
Cheers on a fun combo McInnis!!

Good racing last night. Someone made a comment that there are no black folks in the room. There is no way you guys could have known im black considering I don't talk. Lol. Anyway I'm not offended by the jokes last night because I've raced with you guys long enough to know you mean nothing by it. Just jokes. Anyway good racing bro's.
