:gtpflag: Cars and Track for Monday June 18th :gtpflag:

Track - Vintage LeMans

Ok guy's, changing up the format again this coming week. We will run two 40 minute races, but will switch cars because they are both so awesome! Nice clear sunny summer days. Mandatory Pit. We will run a 20 minute qualifier for race 2 immediately following race 1.
The cars are very close, and being the same class, the grid will be mixed just like last Monday.
Note the letter following each car, there is a difference between the S&M, and K&LH, so just want to make sure you try the correct version. I know, I said S&M!

Race 1 - Grp A - Porsche 917K, Grp B - Ferrari 512S
Race 2 - Grp A - Ferrari 512S, Grp B - Porsche 917K

Just so you know.... I hit the like button 52 times...it doesn't show tho....

This is just awesome!

Let's do a Le Mans start - everybody stands at their fridge. When the clock hits the top of the hour, we all pop a beer and run to our rigs!

Really looking forward to this!!

My fridge is right beside me, so that works for me :p
I'm thinking bonus points should be awarded for chugging beers down the long straight?
Not that I can get them or anything.:banghead:

But my fridge is a couple of hundred feet away in another building, and I don't like to run!

Don't go there Colts!!

Alright Bear, both of us Steve’s are counting on you!

And here’s to the rest of you! Lol.

Hey, this Steve would love to see Bear take the A's as well.
Speaking of Steve, and because we are racing the 512, thought I'd post these. I know I've posted pics from our visit to the Ferrari museum in Maranello before, (my wife with Gille's F1 car), but I don't think I ever posted the following. There is a room in the museum devoted to Ferrari in Hollywood.

This is Steve McQueens 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4, originally delivered to McQueen on the set of the movie Bullitt.

And this was David Piper's 1970 512M used in the 1971 movie Le Mans. This car is so cool in real life!

I agree this is one we should do two times at least, for everyone to enjoy. I sure wont mind that.

I'm just so so so sad that I'm missing out. This would be a most favorite for me, for sure. Maybe we can do a repeat as suggested. But I don't think I'll be back real soon. Caught up in the bureaucracy of medical insurance approvals. I have five herniated discs.:ouch: Can't have surgery until I've had multiple steroid injections. Injections take a couple weeks to get approved, then a couple weeks to get scheduled. Just waiting in pain.

I'm so excited for you guys this Monday though. An absolute treat to run this combo right after the actual race. Steve and Mike making the league awesome, as usual.👍 Of course I still miss you guys, and I'm hopeful I'll be able to return eventually. Take care all, I'm sure I'll watch some of the race on Mike's live stream. And I'll keep lurking in the thread to stay up to date. Miss y'all.

Oh... Don't you guys have a road trip coming up?

Off topic, but I think a lot of you grew up during the Mercury and Apollo missions and probably dreamed of becoming an Astronaut. I can’t wait to see this movie “The First Man”. Astronauts were true hero’s when I was a kid, not actors, pro-athletes or celebrities who are famous for doing nothing. Other great movies like this to watch until it comes out: “Apollo 13”, “The Right Stuff” the HBO series “From The Earth To The Moon” and “Interstellar”. If you know any other good ones, please let me know.

Man thats rough Jeff, I hope you're not in too much pain and you get patched up real soon.

Have you thought about giving the controller a shot? Its way harder in PCars but we'd love to have you in Spurt where its easier on the pad. I should know best considering I raced both on controller for quite awhile. Anyways just throwing that out there so you can atleast get your fix in until you're back in the saddle.

I play my son's Forza Motorsport 7 with the controller every now and then. It's more convenient being upstairs in our living room. Truth is, it just makes me miss my rig even more. And I'm incredibly slow - my son destroys my lap times. It's just not the same and much less enjoyable. I have been keeping an eye on your guy's GTSport endurance races. If and when I can get back to racing, I just might join you guys for that.

Sorry to hear you are still in pain and having to wait so long for treatment. Times like this you need to be in Canada, you would have been done treatments by now and had the surgery! I guess all you can do is rest and ty to be as comfortable as possible, but still must be such a drag.

We miss you not racing with us just as much bud. You should pop into the room if it’s not full and just spectate and commentate for us, or just hang and talk trash, whatever.
And when you are ready to return, we can have a month of GR8 night choices so you can catch up on any fav’s you missed!

Looks like the timing isn’t going to work for a few of us to get to the Glen this year so we are putting it off until next year. So that means you have no choice but to join us then!

Take care Jeff and I hope all gets better asap

Great choice for next Monday. Looking forward to it.

@ GR8- Hope you feel better soon. I can't believe that you are being jerked around by the insurance company. Any way that the medical insurance company can screw you over they will. They would rather have you jump through hoops then fix you all to save a buck and yet it winds up costing more in the end anyway. You think that they would learn. Again best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Night has turned to a cloudy daylight at LeMans. I'm so envious of the racing you guys are doing on Monday. I always ran a mock race against the AI the weekend of the actual race - usually an hour to hour and a half - to simulate a stint. Such a nostalgic race, you guys should have a blast.

I do miss the yellow lights on the GT cars though. A certain romance has been lost without that yellow glow in the night.

Well shucks. My son has a baseball game Monday evening. Unless we get the small chance of rain that is forecasted, I won’t make racing. I did however dislodge Lehman from the time trial (Porsche 3:15.280). Ferrari was even faster.
