Remember, cars are considered as oil change PP regardless as to whether or not you changed it. EXAMPLE: An '02 NSX Type R is 475PP whether you canged the oil or not.

Cars may only be tuned UP.

Welcome to S.T.a.R. Racing League!!!
Welcome to Division 2!!

Our goal is to make your online racing experience the very best it can possibly be through the observance of High Quality Racecraft. Please take a moment to read the OP before asking any questions. It has all the details about S.T.a.R. Then read the OLR (online racing rules) and familiarize yourself with its major points. Negligent or reckless drivers are not tolerated here at S.T.a.R. and all members are required to exhibit Good Racecraft at all times.

Races are on Sunday @ 16:00 EST/21:00 GMT featuring Spec & Tuned races as well as Race Cars and lasts approximately 2 hrs. Your'e not required to attend all or any of the races. Simply show up and race when you want but please have your cars purchased and oil changed; we don't deviate from our schedule if a driver isn't prepared. Administration generally has the car/track combos for each week posted by Tuesday so as to leave racers with enough time to fully acquaint themselves with all three combos. A fixed practice schedule has not been created as yet but we welcome & encourage posts on the thread if your looking for someone to practice with.

TWO THINGS before your first race:
  1. "Start a Conversation" with BustedFoSho giving him your PSN ID, Car/Rim color scheme & race car number
  2. Submit your TT results as soon as you can, otherwise you cannot race in scheduled S.T.a.R. Events until we have this information.
We know your time is valuable and you have many different leagues to pick from and we thank you for choosing S.T.a.R. Racing League.

Fraternally Yours;

S.T.a.R. Racing League Administration,
Coach

RUF Endurance Cup starts a week from Friday, so you should get your cars ready and at least get some practice laps in before the flag fly's. From what I gather we have 8 or so racers who are going to or at least want to race. So lets have a good season everybody. Ill be hosting Practice lobbies On Saturday and Tuesday at the race time so come by if you want to get some tuning in. Room will be friends only so be sure to friend (draqua_fresh) on psn to get access to the room.

OFFICIAL SLCS MARCH 1 LINEUP

REMINDER: R2 is a Tuned race. Tuning UP and no concept cars are the only requirements. A car's PP value is based on the post oil change value; regardless of the oil change status.

Wouldn't these STARTING GRIDS look cool!?!

PRE RACE MEETING: PATIENCE
Today would be a good day to review the GRG. Not every corner and straight is a passing opportunity. The start and first corner are most likely places to have a wreck or contact. Before racing today, think about when & where to pass. What section requires the most patience? What section is the best place to pass?
The trickiest circuit track to day is Willow Spring - Streets of Willow Springs. If you don't have a lot of seat time here, BE CAREFUL.

qaFaAp3.jpg

Corners 4, 9, 10, 11, 12, & 13 are not recommended passing zones. 9-10 is very tricky. This section carries high risk running alone, not to mention, running behind another driver. Be aware of following here as well as a few cars ahead. If you get a run out of 8 you will draft and close; WARNING: Don't consider this a passing opportunity! Just because you are faster than another driver thru a section, does not mean it's a good passing zone. Many times we have to back off and wait for another opportunity. This is one of the GRG decision making points. High risk is not worth the reward. We are running 9 laps here; be smart!

Please consider these points today and let's have a good race day. PATIENCE is the word of the day.

Sorry guys I got far too frustrated to finish the race day. I hope all went well. I'm not positive if I will want to race next week.

We all get frustrated. The connex issues don't help. I'm not so sure Friends Only is the answer.

Keep in mind we are a young league and there will be growing pains. That said I have a few things to discuss.

I msg to the room after you left that I will post Pre Race Meeting earlier in the week. Hopefully that will help.

Another frustration contributor, I think, is lack of practice with the drivers. I've run many laps this week and few if any drivers show up. Of course my times on track are short in duration and unscheduled.
I would ask also that if any of you run a practice room please label it as such: S.T.a.R. Practice would be appreciated.

Drivers don't practice our combos and then try to over drive and patience goes out the window. I see drivers trying to win the race, once again, in turn one or two lap one.

Our combos are unlike most, if not all other leagues, and damned near any public room, in that we run far less grip. Thus requiring far more concentration and car control.

We need to remember a few things:
1) Races are not won in T1 or even Lap 1.

2) Cold tires are far less tacky thus early passing moves need to have little to no risk.

3) Hold position (and don't pass unless it's "given" to you) thru the first few turns. Stay in a pack early [1/2 lap to full lap 1] and use the laps to gain positions. Races are long enough to gain positions from rear to front.

4) Hot laps and Qualifying do not determine finish position. Running solo is not even close to running in traffic. That is why I stress the OLR & Good Racecraft Guide. The decision making needs to be improved.

Lag issues will be addressed now. I will add this to the Rules section: "If a driver is having lag issues, they are required to exit, clear cache, & reenter. The driver will have three minutes from the time the request to "Clear Cache" is made."

Rice, I hope you will reconsider after reading this.

Hey Coach, would you consider making a secondary "league" with a changing day during the week? I know a week ahead of time when my days off are because I get a two week schedule all at once. If I announce what days I have off for the following week, can we get people to race then? Same combos as the Sunday at the beginning of the week.

This week I am off Monday, Tuesday, and Friday.

I don't know that it would be point based, but I have no problem with that. Check the time slot for RGT Endurance series if you run Friday. It may be possible to have the combos up Tuesday early evening or before. Just depends. Monday is a stretch. Just post on here your start time once you see the schedule post for the upcoming Sunday. I doubt I can host so if you or whoever could simply name the room S.T.a.R. Racing League that would be gteat!

9 MARCH SLCS PRE-RACE NOTES
RACE 1: Lotus Elise 111R @ Suzuka
viDPpNL.jpg

The Car: The Elise is a love it or hate kind of car. It can become very unstable in a flash, especially on CS tires. An enormous amount of oversteer and touchy brakes make it a handful to drive. It is also difficult to overtake with this car. It will require extreme patience.

The Track: Suzuka is a technical course and requires incredible throttle, steering, and braking control. With kitty litter (sand) at every turn, an off track mistake will end any podium opportunities; needless to say loss of many positions. Suzuka is wide, and other than Degner 1 & 2 and Casino Triangle, can be run two wide with good driver/car awareness and a lot of pre-race practice. Holding either inside or outside position through Turn 1 -- Dunlop can be done, but again, it needs to be practiced.

The Race: The start can be run two wide up to mid Dunlop. However, problems can occur when the back 2/3 (two-thirds) of the grid try to gain several positions up to the middle of Turn 1 & Turn 2. Gaining a position or two before Turn 1 is fine but then it would be recommended to fall in one of the columns. Three wide through here is common and usually wreck riddled. Trying to drive between columns of cars is discouraged too. The race is 8 Laps; that is plenty of time to go from back to front without trying to get there in the first 2-3 turns. The Good Racecraft Guide gives an example of racing through the high speed 130R turn. It can be raced two wide, but only of you KNOW who is driving next to you and BOTH of you can make that turn incident free.

RACE 2: 555PP (FF FR 4WD) @ Twin Ring Motegi RC
5RSS7V5.jpg

The Car: Driver specific. Cars tuned UP to 555PP and Drivetrains that are FF, FR, or 4WD.

The Track: One of the widest tracks on the circuit with many overtake zones. This track can be run two wide throughout; provided drivers hold lines. This can be a very fun track for all, provided we race with track/car awareness, discipline, and patience. The biggest temptation here will be diving under. Be sure you are side-by-side or have the required overlap before going under another driver. This track is deceiving in its technicality. It is wide and inviting to two-column racing but has unseen teeth that will bite you amputating your leg and you never felt it or saw it coming.

The Race: Again, T1 is where frustration set in; immediately. Fortunately, this track can handle double columns but it requires discipline, patience, and practice. Live with the line you choose. The problems occur when running two wide and a driver decides to change lines because "the other line is moving quicker through the check-out". Be careful coming off the Downhill Straight as the early braking into the 90 Degree Corner can be dicey.

RACE 3: GT300 @ Cape Ring South
C6ukCzl.jpg

The Car: GT300 (518PP limit after oil change & no detuning; Tuning Prohibited)
Sticky and superb handling.

The Track: This track is short with rhythmic turns; fun to run solo and nearly impossible to pass when racing. The passing zones are in 1, 2, 8, 9, and the front straight. 1 & 2 can handle two wide, but 3 & 4 is a chicane and cannot be raced two wide. The straight between 5 & 6 is short and extreme caution should be taken if making this high-risk move. 8 & 9 can be taken door-to-door but be careful thru 10 & 11, a large chicane that can end a race quickly with 12 coming deceivingly quick. 12 is a possible passing zone if the front car goes wide which is easy to do. Take care not to got too wide and out of the boundary. The boundary for 12 is the Pit wall extended and is marked with a white line. The front straight is just that, straight as an arrow.

The Race: This track will require the most discipline and patience of all the tracks up to this point in the SLCS. Aggressiveness will destroy the race for many. If starting in the rear, do not expect a 5-position gain. If so, it's a bonus. This is a small tight and unforgiving track.
