Sorry I couldn't stick it out. Just can't seem to get a feel for the game as a whole. I guess I've been playing GT too long. Everything just feels disconnected, numb. . . .like I can't really tell what the cars are doing. Very Frustrating....f

Also a new problem is the fact that my headset won't work for chat. Something about Sony not releasing bluetooth drivers. Really?!?! WTF! Since the DS4 is occupied (being used as a workaround for the G27) even if I use the audio cable to connect it to my headset it won't pass along the chat audio. If I turn on the DS4 all hell breaks loose with the wheel.

That's interesting because after playing GT6 a few days ago that's how I felt about that game. For me, Project Cars is extremely senstitive. I would suggest spending a little time researching FFB settings for PCARS. Maybe reach out to a couple of the wheel users here for some setup advice. Believe me, it's taken quite some time just for me to be able to stay on track, let alone be side by side with somebody.

As for your technical issues. I know you got some funky stuff going on to make your G27 work. I don't know if there's a latency issue there or what, but that's just speculation. As for your audio, go to your PS4 settings and see if you can manage something differnt to get it to work. I know I have to make a change sometimes (or unplug/plugin) my headset to get it to register. Otherwise the system thinks I want to use the device (keypad) attached to my controller for chat.

Sorry @Lessen I didn't come. I think I still need at least a week before I can even start racing in Project Cars, I'm not consistent and I'm crashing everywhere in career mode. GT6 really messed up my driving habits, really really badly. Hopefully when I go back to GT6 it won't be that bad either.

BTW, very elegant and organised intro, that helps people like me. 👍

  • No forced default setup in the room configuration?
  • Also, is it just me being dumb as usual or is there no registration instructions?
  • Is there a way to warm up the tyres faster?
  • Is there a difference between single player and online lap times like in GT6?
  • Will I be able to use different accounts in this series?
  • Where can I find the Mclaren F1? Is it DLC?
  • How do you chat? Using the PSN app? Or do you have to use a mic?
  • Could someone quick give me a reference lap time for combo 1 or 2 for next week please?
I will be updating this post with my list of questions if anyone is nice enough to answer :indiff:

  • No forced default setup in the room configuration?
    • Yes, this series is always default setup
  • Also, is it just me being dumb as usual or is there no registration instructions?
    • You simply provide PSN and GTP names
  • Is there a way to warm up the tyres faster?
    • The same way you would in real life. It does make a difference.
  • Is there a difference between single player and online lap times like in GT6?
    • I have not experienced a difference.
  • Will I be able to use different accounts in this series?
    • I just need to be able to link your PSN to your GTP. Whatever PSN you decide to use is fine as long as I know it's you. It is also extremely vital to scoring and voting that I have an accurate PSN for all members.
  • Where can I find the Mclaren F1? Is it DLC?
    • I don't believe it's DLC. Make sure you're looking for the road car, not a Formula 1 car.
  • How do you chat? Using the PSN app? Or do you have to use a mic?
    • Mics in lobbies. There is no chat box in PCARS, so any messaging will need to be done via PSN :(
  • Could someone quick give me a reference lap time for combo 1 or 2 for next week please?
    • Sure thing. We won't know what the two combos will be until biting has concluded. I try to have the official schedule put together Saturday morning.

Thanks, helps a lot. I've found a Mclaren P1, but not a Mclaren F1 in my garage. I'll search for it again.

PSN: Vitessekid
GTP ID: Vitessekid

What were the lap times for this Tuesday then?

Edit: Mclaren F1 is DLC, Limited Edition DLC according to the official car list. Don't know whether my parents will agree to buying a total of 39.91€ worth of DLC + the PSN Plus subscription :/

1:07s-1:08s for the McLaren.
Thanks, what about the Ford?

Edit: And one more question: Are there clubs in Project CARS like in GT6? Or how do you open a practice lobby for the league only? How do I even join the lobby next Tuesday?

There are no clubs unfortunately, but we do have a PS4 group you can join. As for joining the room you will be invited around 10 minutes before race time.

Yeah, sorry about that. I wasn't 100% sure.

This series will be using DLC from time to time though that's something I need to note in the OP. Now that we're changing cars often, we kinda need to bring in variety.

@Vitessekid If you're concerned about asking to purchase DLC I wouldn't pull the trigger on the Mclaren quite yet. If the racing last night is an indicator I would guess it may not be around next week. But... Monza is a different animal than Snetterton 200.

I heard as long as the host has the DLC everyone in the lobby will have them, im not 100% sure but i dont own any DLC and i could use the cars.

@Lessen since @Cardahs could race without the DLC I guess I can too... But I'm worried about no practice. I'll just ask my dad to buy the limited edition DLC first, and then we'll see how it goes.

That is correct - As long as the host has the DLC your fine.
This is why i think we should have Open practice like an hour or so before the race so we can get on and turn laps together since we dont have an official practice night.

*EDIT* Votes are in....BMW :)

I would like to have an official practice night, but the logistics are a bit foggy. I would like to fill the available Friday slot in the SNAIL schedule, but that creates a bit of a strain on the process and I don't know that it's feasible to have the official schedule set by Friday evening. That could create a bottleneck of work down the line depending how the series grows. There's a bit to consider.

The DLC aspect of official practice is not the main reason I find value in it, but it certainly is a factor. I imagine that others have purchased DLC's. Before the lastest offering, I think I'm missing only 1 or 2; and I bought several just last week. I'm not available Friday nights during the summer so we would need a host who is willing to stay on top of the DLC offerings when they come up. But again, not sure Friday is the best idea... Hmmm....

Thanks SGETI, but with some of the aliens not showing up, i didnt have much of a choice :/
Card is pulling his weight tho, getting faster for sure!

@Lessen Im fine with the hour or so before race night, get everyone together and run for a bit then end the race and go back to the lobby. Some times i dont turn laps until that night :p

You don't have to limit yourself to an open night in the SNAIL weekly schedule. zer05ive relaxed the requirement for events to have one per console per night. You could grab any night not currently being used by PS4 for an official practice night. You would probably want to bounce it off your drivers to see how many would take advantage of an official practice on any given night but you're pretty open with what you can do as you are the only SNAIL series currently running on PS4.

1:20s-1:23s in the wet and 1:12s in the dry.
I'm getting closer to the 2:12s in the dry, was it 2:12 low or 2:12 high? Is there a place where I can look at the data like in SNAIL [Spec] Racing to avoid these questions?

Edit: Now down to 2:12.266 with a potential 2:11.481. Is it just me or is my front left tyre dead by the end of lap 5? All the other tyres are fine, but the front left tyre has no green at all after lap 5, even if I try to limit my turning to 90°.

I actually like that the Sunday series has it's official practice night early in the week. At first I thought it was a bit counter-intuitive to have a mock race night before most people got comfortable with the combos, but I've realized that scheduling it early on has advantages. Gathering everybody sooner allows everybody a chance to see what is feasible far ahead of race day. The aliens typically learn fast and it's good for us to have track time with our "rabbits" days ahead of racing. Plus, I think it sort of amps everybody up a bit, kinda creates some personal goals and motivates. Personally, I think Saturday evening is the best day for this particular series. This allows ample time to get the combo's hashed out even if things get more involved. Also, because our races are a bit longer, a mirrored mock race night isn't necessarily the best route. I think that would become boring and wasteful considering we'd just be tring to get up to speed. We'll need a different format for an official practice event.

Who would be able to make Saturday evenings for Official Practice?

Considering I was able to run a 2:12, there should be quite a bit more time out there. :)

Unfortunately, no. This series is not currently tracking fast laps. It's not particularly unrealistic for the future though.

Im fine with what ever as far as practices go - But i've always been on the leery side of things when it comes to the weekends because most people tend to go out, ect and cant make it every time.
Im not opposed to weekends (Friday/Saturday) is fine if that's what everyone wants, and i will try to make everyone no matter the day, just not saying i'll be there 100% of the time.

@JLBowler What are the chances we're going to see you over on our side of the track? Miss racing with you man.

Like others have said...go to the project cars forum and visit the PS4 G29 FFB settings thread. There is guy there named redrum something who has done a ton of research. Copy his latest FFB settings and you should have a good setup.

PCars is way over the top complicated in it's adjustability and customization. So sometimes it's best to let others do the leg work who have the time.

If your experience is numb after that then you have another issue. GT6 is far far below PCars in feel and road communication.

@Lessen I'm good with any day you decide for practice, also I have a question, can you still use the wired headset and mic plugged into the controller even with the wheel hooked up,trying not to have to buy another headset if I can help it

I'm not sure about your headset question. I'm a controller user. Hopefully the other fellas can chime in though :)
