I will enjoy the game, but I'll never drive the standard cars, because they look like crap, period.

No, they don't, as the GT5P cars are premium models. Now, you don't think the Premium and Standard cars look the same, do you? Because if you do, you really need to polish your glasses mate. ;)
 
I am really struggling to understand why there is still confusion about this, inspite of the fact that others have already mentioned this

The amount of cars is GT's legacy. Even without cockpit view they're worth it, imo.

Now, why did they even bother making 1000 cars when only 20% are bonified. They would've easily had time to make another 200 premium cars in addition to the already excisting 200 if they never spent time on the 800 standard cars (which I think the majority, including me, will never drive) in the first place.

Yes, that would be the right decision. The whole idea of mixing two different car "types" just seems odd to me.
After all, in previous GTs all of the cars were of the same quality - highest at the moment, not premium or standard.
 
I don't mind, as long as the make a bonus view from the hood of the car (standard models).
 
remember when they were making GT4 and they said they were modelling all the cars at a higher poly-count for future use, and reducing it to a level suitable for the ps2 from that?

You really are upset over this aren't you? Once again, the cars will look better than GT4, they have been given extra detail on their exteriors and optimised for GT5's graphics engine. They will NOT look like crap. Why don't you be more positive? They have improved GT in many other areas, better tracks, better particle effects, day/night transition, improved online, etc.
 
Stop saying this people, the more the merrier, i want to drive a lot of those cars.

Bottom line is, they might look ugly, but they will have brand new physics and sound, and that helps a lot.

If you don't like the standard cars, them just forget about them, let us enjoy 👍

Instead of spending time on the standard models they could've spent time on giving us more premium cars, so we would have had maybe 400 instead of only 200.

This is MUCH better.For me - even 50(or 100) premiums are better than whole 800 GT4 cars.
 
Plus since you most likely will use the bump cam.. you wont notice how ugly they are lol
 
Scrap the 200+ premium cars. If scrapping the 800+ standard cars might yield 200 more premium models I would rather they scrap the 200 super detailed cars and build 800 additional standard models. 1600+ car historical catalog to race would be EPIC! IMO. I dont play the GT series to mess with a few cars. Sure I have my favorites but my enjoyment stems from tinkering with all the cars.

No, I'm not upset. Well maybe at the people not realizing how drop dead ugly and "last gen" they look.

But once again, I'm not bothered, because I will never drive any of them. I've been looking forward to GT5, not GT4 HD, and therefore I will stick to the premium cars only.

Perhaps you can show me two photos which clearly illustrates the difference, as of now I currently am unaware what the visual exterior difference is.

I am certainly glad that polyphony have put so many cars in the game, for me its all about variety.
 
I won't be driving them,not driven a sim for god knows how many years outside of the dashboard.The premiums are insane though,especially when they crash

I really hope they start outsource so it's ready for PS4,like I said a while back on here,it's all about getting the cars at PS4 quality this gen,tracks at the premium level of detail next gen,then Kaz will hang up his helmet,as everything will be modelled ready for photo realism in videogames.

If the pictures was of same quality then it would bin easyer to see.. Have not seen any good quality pictures of standard cars yet.
 
I'll admit it is a bit dissapointing now, I was just trying to be optimistic but the more I think about it, the more I am inclined to agree with you. Part of me thinks though, that this is all an elaborate joke by PD. What I don't get is, how come two identical camaro's (only differing in trim) have two different levels of detail? Wouldn't it have made sense to have both trim levels in premium quality? As i said, my optimism is dieing, the only consolation is that the rest of the game will be excellent. But I'm still hoping it is all a joke by PD. I love GT and I expected the cars to take centre stage, I would have been happy with less cars if it mean't they were all premium quality.

Simply stick to the premium cars, as I will do. :)

200 cars isn't bad really. Especially when you think about, and see the amount of detail put into them.

Yes, the standard cars are GT4 models taken straight from GT4, but with updated reflections.

If they will add cockpit for them it will look like in the PSP game.
 
200 premium cars does not mean 200 cars. Take a chill pill guys, we lived without interiors through 4+ games, it's not going to make or break this game.
 
Man after all these years waiting, now this? Talk about getting a whip from behind. It's a shame really. 👎

Ah yes I can see the difference, thanks for clearing that up.

The difference isn't really big enough for me to care a great deal about really, infact, even though these appear to be unscaled GT4 cars, the extra polygons and superior GT reflections make these cars look rather good. I would rather see them than not see them to be honest.
