Every now and then you find someone who takes "Fast" in a new direction.

Picture a 170mph VW bus.

I'm amazed.

I guy I know used to fix and restore Porsches. His shop truck was a VW Microbus with a 911 Turbo running gear. I never drove the beast, but I've ridden copilot in it.

It's a wonderful feeling to cruise up behind a 5-series BMW in a Microbus, and flash your high beams to clear the left lane. And if you think a tuned Skyline handles badly...

thats crazy for a vw bus i bet i would do like 230mph if it had better aerodynamics and was on the salt flats.

Near where I used to live in eastern Melbourne there was a tune shop that specialised in VW's. They ran a fleet of VW Golfs (the originals) that were some of the best handling front drive hatches I've ever seen - but the shop transport was a Kombi in a beautful solid blue, that ran a 3.0 litre Carrera flat six under the floor.

If I had a dollar for every young bloke in a V8 Commodore that took a beating at the hands of that thing - man, it was like a kid that hadn't been toilet trained - just squat and GO!! Made a great noise, too.
