I been playing GT series since the first came out but I have always like to play it in 3dr person view cause I like to see the car and everything but lately I have tried 1st person and most of my learning to do curbes and these other stuff thta I learn to do at high speed, but in the game I'm still not sure whats the best way to do it in 1st or 3dr person view, I just want if anyone like to give their oppion so I can lear from all of you'll...
aiight thanks peace

I really think for me it depends on the car. Like say I was racing with an F1 I would race with 3rd person view cause I like it that way and I can see over it well. If I were racing a PT Cruiser or a Beetle I would race inside since those cars are slow and I can not see over them. It depends on the car for me. :)

i always race 3rd person perspective because it enables me to see how close i am to the walls or edge of the track

I've always used 3rd person view myself i like to see the car and you can see more of the track ahead , i do like to have the odd rally race in 1st person view, now thats fun! especially when you let the other car get ahead of you :D

Oh yeah if anyone has an extra PS2 that would like to donate it to this guy ( have suffer a lot that I havent played GT3 in the longest time sonce my PS2 broke)
please give one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thanks

:rotfl: you must be joking ! :D

Oh and BTW welcome ! :)

Hey, welcome to GTPlanet, Polacano! :D

Hey there, fellow newb. I like first person, because I like to race in my Lancer a lot, and I can't possibly see over the thing. It's just stuck with all my cars now. Plus, I can to turns much easier. It all depends on your taste, really.

Actually, I think it would be great if a cockpit view was included...

i would agree it's more of a realistic feeling but like i said, when you're really pushing, it helps to see the exterior of the car b/c you see where it really is in relation to the track ....plus i think you can catch oversteer in its initial stage before it bites you in the neck ......you might be a GVX or mr. p and not even know it ......i know i'm much faster in the 3rd ....guess everyone's different

I am currently into the 1st person view, cause I like to watch how fast the speedo needle goes up. I use the 3rd person view when I want to see the wheels and stuff.

I always over-react to the car moving around in 3rd person - ever since Pole Position....

 ....i know what you mean i think ...... i know some people like that ..... do you shift your body from side to side when you're playing the game?

Same here, vat_man, I hate the outside views.

Only when I'm doing 180s or J-turns do I bother with an outside view while driving.

Tilt my body? I tilt my chair too just to squeeze a few more drops of grip outta the tyres :D
Oh and i play in 1st person perspective, never really tried 3rd perspective

Agreed. 3rd Person view is pretty, but the cars don't appear to be doing what you're telling them to do. The only courses I can drive 3rd person on are the Test Course and the Super Speedway. Both are fun to watch with a racing field of Formula 1 cars (:

I drive with 1st person most of the time but in a race I will switch back and forth. When running by myself I have better laps time with 1st person. In a race it gets hard to see somtimes with either one.I miss the in the middle view.

For me, 1st person is the only way to go. I've driven that way since GT1.
On a big screen TV, the sense of speed just can't be beat :p

I actually race cars and can tell you that the first person view is pretty good although in real life it is much more bumpy and blurry at speed. The only beef I have with GT3's views is when you are actually racing, one would generaly look to where one wants to go. The drawback with most simulation games, including this one, is that you are only bordered by the television set and so when you approach tight corners such as Laguna's Mario Andretti corner (turn 1) and especialy the last turn and begin breaking in a straight line by the end of your baking point you can no longer see your 1st apex on the inside corner where in real life you would have your head turned and looking there. This essencially turns a perfectly wide open corner into a blind one.

I however have gotten used to racing in 1st person, especially when it comes to distances and clipping points. Rallying is easier in 1st person because you slide early and can actually see your exit long before your there. The turning aspect in 3rd person is a little slow for my taste.

I would rather see some kind of head movement, like was attempted in the one of the F1 PC games last year (not F1 2000), instead of a big dash and hood that will serve no purpose but block what limited space is available. BTW the last time you where racing or pushing a little hard in your real car on the track or street could you remember a full steering wheel or glove box in your periferal vision? I bet you had to take your eyes off the road just to find out how fast you really where going.

Welcome man! (I'm new too) I've been into the GT series since it debuted a few years ago. As for what view I like, I will definetly say 1st person. I dunno, just feels more lifelike to me than seeing the whole car. Also, as somebody else stated, the car never seems to be doing what you are telling it if you're in 3rd, you just don't quite "feel" it as quickly. Only time I really use 3rd is when I have a car that can blow my competition away and I want to watch me obliterate the 1st position car I've been driving behind all around the track, just for the fun of it ;) As for wanting to know where the edges of the car is, that's just somthing I've learned as when I learned to drive a real car. You can't really see the sides of your car when you start driving, you just learn where it is on the road..
my 50 cent ;)
peace,

Yeah totally agree, first person all the way. I mean GT3 is supposed to be the 'real driving simulator' then looking at the car from an angle at the rear does not quantify as real in my book.

Also if you have driven the F1 cars on tracks like Apricot Hill and Monte Carlo then the racing feel in 1st person cannot be beaten.

I think the 1st person view is set a little too low, but I do like it. Nothing like drifting through a sharp, shallow banked turn at 90+ in 1st person mode.

The only problem is, I tend to be a little wreckless.. I dont test drives courses, and often get suprised by sharp turns. (Took me a while to get used to Rome short in GT2.) 3rd person view gives me a chance to at least to slide into the wall sideways, rather than hitting it head on. :D :D :D

One solution to the narrow field of view in GT3 would be to set up the 3 TV, 3 PS2 set up! I have seen this done, but since I don't own 3 of each(YET) I haven't got to try this personally. Has anyone else tried this out yet

Yeah that corner on the Rome circuit does not half hit you quick (literally) until you get used to the course, but hey that's racing and after a couple of laps getting a surprise like that, then you soon learn.

Is your TV a projection?

I hope you can afford to buy a new one, Videogames kill big screens.
