Well all i know is it sold 2.4 million in its first 4 days....

We now know that number was wrong. It is at least 200k too low. If you look at the breakdown of the 2.4m, 240k were for the first 4 days of japanese sales which we know to be incorrect.

Sometimes third parties release shipment figures for their games but I don't think I've ever seen it with a first party outside quarterly financial reports. Usually they wait for the NPD report because they are actually able to track sales to consumers.

Until then, the game sold 430,000 copies in its first week in Japan (way down on GT4), 265,000 in its first week in the UK (up 6% on GT4) and 97,000 in Spain (one of the biggest launches ever). Numbers from Media Create and GFK.

It seems the franchise continues to grow in Europe while losing relevance in Japan and probably America too.
