Stop spreading fake rumors, no the game didn't delete all progress, no the server maintenance won't last for two weeks

I'm reading a lot of speculation and fake news.
People mentioned they could log in fine after the initial patch 1.07 update and had all their progress (cars, tunes,...)

I'm reading a lot of speculation that get's it own life on social media and fora. So far we don't know what happened, we have no ETA.

But saying it will be down for two more weeks, because the server had been reset is a complete lie.

Source?

Fact is, no one knows anything. There's no lies or truth because there has been radio silence from the only people who know. It's unlikely progress has been wired, but there's a possibility. It's unlikely the servers will be offline for 2 weeks, but there's a possibility. It's unlikely every race will pay out a million Cr. But there's a possibility.

The "we lost your data" tweet is from a fake account. Anyone claiming they know how long the servers will be down is lying.

Indeed it was. No one is claiming to know anything because no one knows anything. That's precisely the point I'm making. Nothing is truth or lie until PD confirm what's going on.

If nobody knows the truth then how do you know that what you are calling "fake rumours" is not the truth?

So if it turns out we have lost data you are the one spreading misinformation and lies by your own definition? People speculate when they have a lack of information as you are also essentially doing. It's a natural thing but that doesn't make it a lie it's still just speculation.

It all could be avoided if PD cared even slightly about community management and actually shared some information but that has never been a priority or even just a consideration as far as I can tell. Even if all they did was put out regular posts that they are still working the problem without going into details it does help fill in the silence. As long as there is silence there will be speculation it's just inevitable and the longer it is left like this the more folks will become frustrated and angry.

Because they are baseless. You can make up whatever numbers you want and there's a chance it'll turn out to be true, but it means nothing.

It's also demonstrably false, people managed to get into the game just after the update released and right before they took the game offline again and they still had all their data.

You can still see all the cars you purchased or own now from within arcade mode due to local saves. I spent a few hours yesterday working on tunes for race C in Daytona using the time trial once I discovered this. Though obviously I can't buy parts I was able to work with what I have to improve a couple of cars I own just from tweaking the numbers.

However what I see on my local save may not match the server stored info and if the issue is a sync issue between the two then there is still a possibility of corruption or data loss (PURE SPECULATION TO BE CLEAR) Again we simply don't know, you can't assume anything at this point and the only time we will know with absolute certainty is when the servers come back online.

But they got into the full game, for which you need a connection to the servers. The save data for the career mode is on the servers, and all of it was still there for them. So there can't be a data loss.

They could easily have lost the data after the maintenance started. Run a bad script on the server side, poof it's gone.

Where have I said as much? Literally said in 2 posts that no one knows anything and that anything could be true or not. Perhaps read my posts before quoting me incorrectly.

Sorry but I am not going assume anything you do what works for you. I certainly hope you are correct because the alternative would really really suck but until we get servers back we don't know either way.

It is high time PD give us some more information on what is the problem and what is their current estimate how long this will last.

This is starting to be a PR own goal compounding the initial technical error.

Yes, this is what happens if you choose not to give any kind of update. People will speculate, rumours will spread etc.

I believe the servers are down because Sophy has become sentient, is holding all of the staff hostage and is plotting to take over the world.
