2-player battle

Well I got the game when it came out here in Puerto Rico (US Version) this past wednesday (Feb23). And yes you CAN use the memory card's garages for 2p battles as they already mentioned around the end of this thread. In fact I'm done 10% of the game, have about 4 or 5 fully tuned cars and the past 2 days I've been doing nothing put 2p battles with my cousin like we've always done with the GT series since it came out.

As for the tracks available you have to keep playing gran turismo mode to keep unlocking more and more tracks. I'm sure the Vegas Drag Strip track will become unlocked after a while for 2p drag racing.

I am a bit disgruntled that you can't save the 2p replays nor view them full screen with the focus on the leading car of the two in the race. But whatever, the most fun is in the racing and at least that is in so I'm not THAT bothered by that bit. I always ended up deleting the replays anyways.

The ONLY thing for now that bothers me quite a bit when you are playing with your friend on a single ps2 is that after you boot up the game and it auto-loads memcard1 you can't for example switch memcard1 for your buddies so he can load up one of his cars to tune it up a bit and then save and go into arcade to race the re-tuned car. You have to switch memcards around in slot1 and reset the PS2 and wait a minute or two while it loads up again. :indiff: Again, not something that detracts from the game all that much but waiting 1 or 2 minutes vs. waiting a few seconds is a bit of a drag.

Either way!!! WHO CARES!?!?!? This game is great in almost every respect, and I'm enjoying every single last bit of it. Just keep in mind that NO SINGLE PIECE OF SOFTWARE WILL EVER BE BUG-FREE OR PERFECT!!! But I do agree some of the issues stated here are simple and stupidly overlooked design elements.

Has anybody been able to Unlock the 2Player Drag strip Course yet? I am very doubtful of this since I am at 22% of the game and still not see that in 2Player Battle Mode.

I am slightly hopefull because in that Las Vegas strip you can clearly see the other lane set up for another car also with its own Finish Line on the other side. I hope it isn't just background decoration.
 
I agree that second lane in the drag strip is such a big tease for the time being. I thought i saw screen shots with two cars on the drag strip prior to the release... I'm only 15% complete and it says 8/9 city tracks available... anyone have 9/9???
 
I hope it can be unlocked. I've seen these screen shots so long ago.

Does anyone else have the problem of thier garage cars handling like **** in 2 player battle mode? Because when me and my cousin play with our cars from GT mode they handle completely differently (and crappily). Anyone else have this problem or know why it is? :indiff:

Get racing tires and your handling problems will be gone.

They're not stock, they have the same Hp as they do in Gt mode.

I'll have to try buying racing tires then I guess, thanks EVO. I just don't get why they handle fine in GT mode but don't in arcade.

I would think it's one of the most interesting aspects of GT4. To be able to go against your buddy on the drag strip seems interesting to me.
 
Polyphony001 is from England. They don't drag races over there.

I would love to have this drag map for 2 player battle. Adds another dimension to the game. GT4 would definitely miscalculated if they hadn't included this for the American fans.

In 2 player mode, the driving assists are automatically disabled. You have to choose to enable them. :)
 
Does it show the true power of your modified cars in the 2 player garage, or just the stock power like it did in all previous GT games?

I dont know if this was already answered... But YES their are garage LOADS in GT4 for the NA release, i'm not sure about the others since i'm in the U.S. :)

Any who's played it answer this? It makes it really hard otherwise if you have a stock version and a modified version in your garage, you can pick the wrong version to race your friend.

When choosing your car from the memory card, it shows the tuned horsepower. Once the car is selected and it goes back to the car selection screen it will show the stock HP but I guess it doesn't matter because the cars are tuned the way you have them set and tuned horsepower is visible when picking the car so it makes for much better races. 👍

Sidenote: still hopin for vegas 2 player drag strip!!
 
I have Racing Super Soft tires on all my cars in my garage however in 2 player battle the PS2 only allows me to choose from Sport Medium and Sport Soft.....can Racing Super Soft tires be used on 2 player battle???

I believe only super soft racing tires can be put on race cars in 2 player. Even if you have them on your production car it won't let you use them. Kind of a bummer.

Is the vegas drag strip in 2 player?
 
My hopes for the 2p drag strip in the NTSC version are fading away. There are some people with 60%+ of the game completed and still no drag. Maybe the PAL guys will luck out and get it. :grumpy:
