Its too much different info....

Still confused, what exactly do i need to hook up 2tv´s and 2ps2, because you need to do it in LAN i guess ?

What i need is ?:
Network adapter and crossover cable

If thats not correct, please tell me what Hardware i need to setup 2-PS2 and 2-TV´s

Everything is a mess

Some things that are annoying me in GT4 that I was looking foward to so much just to be
disapointed a lot.

1. Garage cars can't be loaded when playing a LAN....Wtf...What a waste
2. Some cars aren't allowed to have racing tires on, ****s with my tuned suspention and throws it complety out the window for cars that I'm used to driving but now I gotta drive with sport tires.
3. Mybe it's me...but I can't seem to turn on TCS for 2 Player Battle (I could be wrong)
4. There doesn't seem to be a drag mode, which I thought was gonna be there!!!! Doesn't really matter cause you can't use racing slicks...High Horsepower cars just spin.

I've also noticed that you have to own a car to have it playable in Arcade mode, some cars,
which is kinda anoyying cause I don't want them in my garage. This is mainly for LAN mode
being I can't use my garage cars...which in my opinion is the biggest let down of GT4.

Is 2-Player the only place you can load cars from your garage in Arcade Mode or has someone found another way to load the garage cars while in arcade mode.

My hopes for the 2p drag strip in the NTSC version are fading away. There are some people with 60%+ of the game completed and still no drag. Maybe the PAL guys will luck out and get it. :grumpy:
If we do, you'll hear about it...

Well, so much for me going through the trouble of hooking up 2 tvs and 2 PS2's. They give us the same gameplay as the i link in GT3. Why in the hell can't they seem to get it through their heads that 2player is meant to be played " my settings vs your settings "? I just don't get that. I see absolutely no reason why I shouldn't be able to do that. 2 player on the same console can manage to run that way, why can't a 100mb/sec lan line handle the same load.... just stupid.

Well, thanks for saving me from wasting my time anyway. :grumpy:

Yes it does seem that multiplayer is the weakest aspect of GT4, fortunately i don't use this feature THAT often, i spend just as much time with mates time-trialling, but this multiplayer letdown is something that will probably come t bug me later on...

In the PAL version I have read that you can race your own modified cars against your friends' cars.

yep can't do it either.. been trying with my brother and when you set the option in arcade settings.. it disappears once you're in 2p mode and load up garage cars.. yes the car will be tuned and have lots o power just like you left it.. but no traction control.. only if you use stock cars from the dealers..

if you pick your car.. go back in the arcade menu, tcs and asm is off

another stupid decision

I will apologise first for my post and the people it may offend, but I believe you guys will apreciate my opinion.

Here it goes:

I wrote some threads saying that KY, PD and SONY are making a joke out of you consumers by giving you what they want and not what YOU, the consumers, want.

WHY? Because they can make more money by selling the next GT game.

NOW HERE'S THE DEAL: nothing wrong with keeping a franchise going. BUT, when it gets to the point that it just becomes a joke then, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

THE VERY FIRST GT HAD MEMORY CARD BATTLES AND REPLAY FOR 2 PLAYER RACES.

You're telling me that more than 5 years later in the "amazing" GT4 these features have been taken out? When these are the main features that kept people playing GT games for years on end? And you guys still can't see what a joke YOU, the consumers, have become? YOU DECIDE WHAT FEATURES GT GAMES HAVE! You pay your money and therefor you decide. NOT THEM!!!

So many delays and milking GT series with Concept and Prologue, promising features and then removing them and now the BOMBSHELL NEWS that 2 player has become a lame arcade feature, prettymuch. Just so they can add the features later on, on another GT version and make more money from you?

And you guys still want to buy the game GT4?

WAKE UP!

I haven't read through the entire thread but you can use cars in the garage for 2 player mode.

When you choose your car you'll see 3 options in the top bar. 1 / 2 / Favorites. Select 1 or 2 depending which slot your mem card is in and viola ! You'll haveaccess to your garage and you can race any car from it.

:)

Isn't there anybody who has the 2 player battle on the drag strip unlocked. 💡

I've also searched the intire game even on the option menu but I can't find a way to turn it on. :ouch:

i dont think 2player drag is in gt4...

I also find 2 player battle seems almost useless.. in gt3 it was fun... but i guess my standards for multiplayer have raised from playing too many pc racing games...

or does split screen in gt4 suck?

I quite like the 2 player races on GT4. Now the screen is split vertically, not horizontally (at least in widescreen and on my 42" RP it's a good view) and I even like the replays being on two seperate screens. Now you can see a great 360 spin in two views at once!

No garage cars??? NOOOOOO!! Someone confirm/deny PLEASE.

Garage cars CAN be used in 2 player

BUT....You can't have TSC OR ASM on with garage cars
so high powered cars(esp. FR) will spin out or have no acceleration
I always just use high power normal cars

Just like to add that I'm hugely disapointed that Traction control cant be used in memory card battles. The loss of full screen replay was a niggle but didnt actually affect gameplay. I really hope they do SOMETHING to sort this out in GT5 as Memory Card battles on GT3 with mates was actually my sole reason for playing the game! - earning money and unlocking new cars to thrash my mates with was great fun! I had really high hopes for GT4 only to be disapointed by a small thing that could of easily been added.

That's the ONLY thing you dislike about 2 player mode?
Wow, you're not easily disappointed.

I know I will rarely use 2 player mode and so far I haven't used it except for being silly (shunting a life step van round the Nurburgring in an SLR). It's just poor in my opinion, evidently LAN is the new way to multiplay. Which sucks. Just a ploy to make people need two ps2s, a cable and two copies of the game, to force extra money out of punters. Sickening, :yuck:

Traction Control CAN be used in 2 player....
just select an arcade car for both players first (with traction on... tires don't matter), then swap the cars (change) with what you got in your garage.... the traction control option won't show, but you will have it in the race (you can see the light on your dashboard flicker).

However, it DOES NOT seem to appear that your tuning settings carry over from your garage... (i tested it by trying to get my minolta to do a 350MPH wheelie.... but it maxed out around 220 or so- no wheelie).

this is complete wackness. I haven't gone through EVERY page in this thread, but has anyone found a work-around for this?

Is this really true? I really hope so cos i h8 the way i cant use traction controll, i meen sure you can go so far with throttle controll, but for the really powerful cars like minolta, sauber etc TCS is really needed. Does this suggestion work?? can anyone tell me as my PS2 is broke at the moment and i cant test it for myself for a couple of days

it works for sure! i started a thread a little while back about this....
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=60578

but this is all useless unless we can get the tuning settings to carry over too... which i haven't figured out how to do yet (garage car w/tcm wo/tuning = arcade car w/tcm)... i mean once you have the car in your garage it's unlocked in the arcade section, and without your tunings carrying over, what's the point?

kool, thanx alot, ill c about the settings n stuff, thanx again

P.S i have my m8 ova at my house at the moment, we are playing GT4 2player on his PStwo, thank you!!!! You are the saviour of my GT4 multiplay experience, thank you !!!!

Wow! Saviour! I did try searching before I posted and only came up with this thread (I must be just rubbish at searching!).

Just playing two player at the mo. My mate seems to of found some trick that if we pick the same tyres & same car his are half worn by end of 1st lap when mine havnt even worn - he also has tonnes more grip (even with 'comfort' tyres!). Again, sorry if I'm being a numb nuts but cant find ANYTHING about it searching on here!

Thanks very much,

Rob :)

Robbierx, I think it's supposed to work that way. Tires don't grip at their best when you first start cold (i.e. not worn, blue color), they gradually grip better and better as they heat up, peaking when the indicators turn green (would this happen to be your mate's tire color at the end of the lap?). From there they gradually turn to junk by changin yellow, orange, and finally red colors, at which point you will be doing donuts whether you like it or not. I think I know what I'm saying, anyone else have clarification? :)

tell your friend to stop drifting :)

to tell you the truth, i turn tire wear off in 2player mode (yeah, yeah, i know).

what CardcaptorYoshi is saying seems to make sense to me... i don't know about the game, but in real life, tires are a bit stickier warm and a bit worn

Maybe I could of been clearer. Me and my mate have been rivals at who's the best at GT :) , and race 10 - 20 laps at a time all the way through GT1, 2, 3 and now 4. We have the same driving style, we were driving identical cars, setup and were at the exactly the same point on the track. Yet his tires were greenie yellow and mine were still warming up as we crossed the line for the first lap. I think it was a one off glitch now though as it has not happened since the console was re-set.
