Ferrari didn't seem that reliable in winter testing, looks like its starting to show here.

I'll still go with Alonso for the win, then next 3 or 4 positions though could be a close one. Can't wait for quali tomorrow at 5.30am :dopey:

Juan Pablo Montoya, who had been the fastest race driver in the earlier session, had an eventful afternoon.

The Colombian's McLaren ground to a halt at the end of the pit lane halfway through the session, whereupon he proceeded to grab a jack and drag the MP4-21 back to the garage himself!

He later spun off and wound up a lowly 14th on the timesheets.

No re-runs over here, but at least we don't have any ad-brakes during the race, and it's always live.

This circuit is as demanding as any other on the circuit.

Renault and Ferrari are written all over this.
 
Ime prolly getting the results surfing also as the timing is asiatic.

M.Schumacher and a walking cane.

Watching practice, it really looked like the Ferraris and Renaults were the only cars that looked at peace. Possibly McLaren too, but they got spanked on the time sheet. Let's see what happens in qualifying...

I hope it rains during the race—could really mix the field up, and it should give Williams and Ferrari a better chance.

Tiago Monteiro also injured his back. I’m not sure if he’ll recover in time for the race, so perhaps he will have to step aside.

"I had to stop just after we put fresh tyres on. My back was blocked," explained Monteiro. "A nerve pinched. It was hurting terribly. So I did not take advantage of the new set of tyres. The physio, Alex, treated me about one hour after the session. But it still hurts."

This will be an interesting race, rain or shine, as it will help determine which of the teams are going to be competitive for the year and which teams are going to be duds. Should be good stuff!

Just monitering the live timeing is exciting now that the competition is so much closer. just over a second betweent he top 15. Thats almost unheard of in F1. Ferrari in trouble with Honda, Renualt, Mclaren & Williams looking good with the final session to go
 
I watched it on TV live. Alonso and Kimi are running full fuel loads. The temperature looked painfull. 100, 122 track and high humidity. Remember last year when Alonso won it, and couldn't stay standing up for the national anthem? It was only 95 then, so this year, it's going to be hotter because day temps will be the same for tomorrow. Fisi looked worn-out from qualifying.

Okay, looking at the times, Fiat, McLaren and Alonso are going for one stoppers, Williams are probably really close to the "E", as is Klien. Also worthy of mention is the fact Yuji Ide hasn't had a single lap under 1'40 all weekend long. :lol:

I still can't come to like the new qualifying format... Trulli has the 3rd fastest time, Villeneuve 6th, in front of the Ferraris (well, they're already in front of them, but still). THAT would have been a really interesting grid under the old system.
 
I’m pretty certain those times are the times simply from the first session, though.
 
yes they are, the mch of the pointy end of the field where in the high 32s or low 33s in the first two sessions if i remember correctly
 
Button got the fastest lap during the 2nd session of 1'33.5xx
