Ferrari and Mclaren battle for the win, with a tense fight between Kimi and Hamster, and I think Kimi is gonna win it. The third team will be between Williams-BMW-Red Bull. Renault hasn't done anything surprising the past months, just like BMW, so I don't have any reason to see why they should surprise us now. Williams and Red Bull have been showing an incredibly fast pace in the testings, and Red Bull have already confirmed their speed in practise, I therefore think Red Bull could be the biggest surprise this weekend. Behind all these is the rest, with Toyota coming first, probably just within the top 10, or maybe between P8-P12...
 
I hope Renault surprise us (in a good way). Otherwise it will be really frustrating to see such a skilled driver as Alonso not being able to fight for the first positions.
 
I think Iceman will have an easy enough time, can't see Hamilton nipping at his heels the entire race length. Should he get pole the Finn will wear him down. Iceman looked near flawless(onboard cam).

I think Hamilton will put up a good fight with Kimi and Massa but I hope Felipe to win.
 
I always enjoy seeing cars with less drivers aid, funnily enough it happens to make the gap between the drivers skill larger.. who would have thought..

Of course i have to foget the man but one cant help wonder how MS would go in a F1 car with no TC compared to the new guys, havning formerly raced the things before TC came in.
 
Thing is, and that's what everyone said, the new breed of TC-less V8s is quite different to the previous ones. Without variable intake trumpets and less torque overall, the V8s were designed with TC in mind - very high peak curves - and because of the homologation, there isn't much to be done in order to improve this. Schumacher himself, when he tested during the winter, as well as Coulthard and Barrichello, two other veterans, commented - it's far harder, and far worse, to drive the modern breed of TC-less cars.

True, but half the equation IMO. Lack of engine-braking is making the cars squirrely as well, especially corner entry. I for one support the ban forcing drivers to 'drive' the car instead of flooring the accelerator leaving the software to sort it out.

Fernando may be down, but never out. I shall be keenly watching Q2 for surprise. In any event, Renie have significant upgrades scheduled for European campaign. Let the cards fall where they may, it's a long season and he has two 'aces'. Objectively, AUS is the Iceman's to lose.

I'm down. He doesn't have a better chance, because chances are both won't :p
 
I think it's time for Pre Qualifying predictions. here are mine.

Lewis
Massa
Heikki
Webber
Alonso
 
Despite being an Alonso fan, I'm not sad to see him in a midfield car. I loved to see him dodge and overtake faster cars back in 2003 and 2004 (and even '05 and '06 when he had the chance), so it'll be fun to see him battling where the show is. Rather than hoping him to get the pole and drive alone.

As for the front runners, go Kimi. He just CAN'T lose this championship.
 
Well i think im going to go for the sleep between Practice and qualifying. Other than that im awake until 4AM.

I don't think Renault will see the podium untill halfway the season, at least.
 
Can´t wait for the race start! Quality is about 4:30am in here..
so maybe i watch it from the tape or somethink..
And what i have watched those practise times i think that ferraris gonna take this race.

Sorry, but I think the only way Alonso is going to surprise everyone during qualifying - assuming he makes Q2 in the first place - is with a fuel strategy that is so light it will hurt his chances come race day because he'll have to pit in the opening laps.

I think he'll make Q3. I dont think he'll qualify high up but he's a good enough driver to pull a car beyond say what an average driver can do. The Renault isn't a bad car.

But it's not a particularly good car, either. And with the Red Bulls proving unexpectedly strong yesterday (unless they were running on fumes), Alonso is going to have his work cut out for him once he decides on his race strategy.
 
Mmmm, Coffee, 2 and a bit hours till the first ITV F1 program of the new season starts.
 
And Qualifying is about to start!!! 👍 I am definitely excited! (Now I just need a cold brew. :grumpy:)
 
Raikkonen, you buffoon! Did they not teach you how to get out of the way in
Finland. I know its only the first session, but its only common courtesy.

Talk about BMW coming out with the pace out of no where :D:D , I'm quite happy with their performance matching the McMercs and Ferarris
