[sarcasm]Oh noes.. bling posers have found this poll and vote for R8! [/sarcasm] it's far from over, Gator.. relax.

Now you see why I overreacted. I love Asian Imports because everybody thinks Europeans make the best, passionate, prettiest cars on the planet. It just makes me sick hearing someone saying they want a Ferrari or a Lamborghini 24/7. I understand that everybody likes them but I see on TV that they be customizing them and do stuff to it for no other reason but to showoff and brags off to the world saying "I got a better car than you will ever have"

So basically yes then, the engineer has a cost he needs to stick to, and should engineer in reliablitly within those costs.

Thats like me spending 10 grand on engine upgrades but then neglecting other important components.

^ The man speaks the truth.

All very well it being all-mighty for a relatively low price, but it's only reasonable to expect the car to last too.

1. Firstly grow up. The R8 can only be compared to equivelant 911 models. How did you in your head work out that a comparing the R8 to much more powerful porsches, and some track ready porsches is fair? Like for like the R8 has beaten the 911.

2. Who said that there will be another one?

3. Who cares if you think its ugly? I think your car is ugly. Do you care about that?

4. Its also more exclusive, and more powerful. Fair trade.

1. Riiight, so when a ZR-1 stomps an R8, it's not fair... Because the ZR-1 is the top dog of the range. Guess what? The price of the R8 can buy enough 911 to walk the R8.

2. It might not be another R8, might not even be an Audi, but there'll be something that does everything the R8 does to the sports/supercar world today in a few more years... And the R8 will be largely forgotten.

3. Doubtful. I find the R8 ugly just as Jim does, and you can call any vehicle I ever buy ugly all you want, still won't be ugly in my eyes.

4. Aaaaand so? For a loaded R8 you can damn near get a GT2. At least a GT3 or Turbo. So gerroff.

1. Stupid argument. I can buy a car a third of the price of the ZR1 that will make it look very stupid indeed around a racetrack.

Audi is a premium vehicle manufacturer, chevy/corvette isnt. Chevy also make family cars that are just as fast as say a audi a4 3.2 vr6, and costs a damn sight less but that doesnt mean the chevy is a better car. Both cars have different aims.

2. Just like pretty much everything else then. Why has a car got to be remembered 50 years down the line from now for it to be considered great now?

3. Whats your point. I couldnt care less, you coudnt care less. Doesnt make me any happier or sadder.

4. lol you do know audi options prices pretty much follow porsches principles. Porsche options are super expensive just like those of the R8. Lets do it like for like ladies ;)

Deftly sidestepping the madness...

This skullduggery makes me wonder: Has anyone compared to refreshened 911 to the R8 yet?

Yes. Autocar tested both cars and the GT-R a few weeks back. The 911 came last in their view. Whilst still being a very good car and better than the pre-facelift version, the Audi was a better handler and the GT-R stomped all over both of them. I can scan you the article if you're interested in reading it 👍

So, b/c of what you've seen on TV means everyone else acts that way?Certainly not. I know many high end car owners (as do others here) & I know for a fact nearly all of them bought their cars for everything except to show off (which is what I intend w/ my future Lambo). Those folks on TV do it just to gain attention, they have no real love for the car itself.

Ignore them & read about what true owners do with their cars. Much more interesting people and backgrounds to the cars.

Loaded 911 Turbo: 146,375 USD

Loaded R8: 134,750 USD, non R-tronic; 143,750 with R-tronic.

I know what I'd get... And it's got six cylinders.

You cant be serious? Anyways, I haven't driven the R8 in this game but I have driven the GTR and I don't like it. I cant wait to get my hands on the R8 though, but I'm gona wait tell the full game comes out to do so. Considering that the R8 is mid-engined and has its wheels placed at the corners leads me to believe theoreticly it should beat the GTR around corners and easier to handle. Again just my theory as I haven't driven the R8 yet, but I'm willing to bet I'm right.

Just a heads up, this thread isn't about a game, I wouldn't bother arguing with that member either because he's banned.
There wasn't any point reviving this thread, the discussion died over two years ago.
