Renault is shooting itself in the foot time after time with the light first/second stint. The early second stop cost Alonso very, very dear, though he drove an otherwise very clean and fast race, the sluggish start and the group-lapping excepted, of course. He was fast enough in all three stints, but his stops came at the wrong time, costing him quite a few positions - including Webber twice.
Piquet, however, deserves some congratulations. Two points after he took advantage of the Webber-Alonso-Bourdais incident, and kept the two McLarens at bay for a whole stint and, if it wasn't for the delay removing the pit-limiter, he might've held up Kovalainen even longer.
Kovalainen, too, drove perhaps the best race today - not a single mistake, even putting up with an annoying teammate who nudges you. Perhaps without the penalty, he could've been 2nd considering Kimi's exhaust-problems. Kimi should hope the cylinder-heads aren't damaged by the hot exhaust-air, which already burned a rather big hole in the side of his F2008 - it's a brand-new engine on the Ferraris, and it has to work at Silverstone, too.
It was funny, though, when the German commentators got bored with the situation of six German drivers outside the points, and started discussing the F1-watching habits of the German football team.

) Jarno also did a splendid job keeping Heikki behind him and finish on the podium. He really deserved it and it is (in a way) a good tribute to Andersson. 👍 But to be honest, he has been really good in France, finished no lower than 6th in his grand prix years. (no, his DNFs doesn't count)
