I disagree. Although I don't much love the new Accord's butt, the "put any detail there!" attitude is exactly what has landed the automotive world in the current mess of abysmal styling. Look at this gen Sonata - what makes it look so good is that it's CLEAN - no pointless tarting up or detail-for-it's-own-sake to make it look cheap. The Sonata looks like it costs $5000 more than it does. Most other new cars, with all the flashy decorations splattered all over them, look like they cost $5,000 more than they should.

Which may be why the insets on the Sedan's nose look so out of place...they don't seems to have a purpose...

Tha Accord Coupe is beginning to remind me a little of the '70 1300 Coupe 9S in it's tapering profile..
 
I dig it. I'm not a huge fan of the back end, and it could use a slightly smaller front grille, but overall it looks clean. I'm glad they didn't "just put any detail in there". Generally I hate detail in cars.

Not surprised this looks like Hyundai either. They've been spoofing the accord for a long time now. Unless honda does a complete redesign, it's gonna look like a Hyundai.
 
I’m sorry, but Hyundai is doing a much much better job of styling cars these days.

The sedan from a side-profile view looks exactly like a BMW 5-series, which is not a compliment when coming from me.

The headlamps are gross in their hugeness – they only serve to exaggerate the already large front overhangs. The back of the sedan looks like the back of the new Impreza (’nuff said). The rear of the coupe is just an Acura CL that’s been backed into a wall. The grille wouldn’t look right on any automobile, car or truck.

And why did Honda ruin the interior? They had a great thing going with the current interior – this one is a mess of buttons and Civic steering wheels.

Obviously it’s not my cup of tea. Honestly, if (god forbid) I were forced to choose between a new Camry and this Accord, I would go with a Camry – at least the interior is dressed beautifully (if not screwed together especially well), and the exterior is a little more cohesive.

Actually, scratch that – I’d have a Sonata instead.
 
The Civicness of the Accord, overall, is an unwelcome addition, but I'm more than wiling to give it a shot. I didn't like the new Civic at all, too space-age to seem anywhere near reasonable. The Accord, overall, comes off far more "grown up" in appearance and attitude, but hopefully they left the more "youthful" driving experience in the car.

This is still one of my favorite segments of automobiles, and Honda has been a favorite of mine for well-over a decade. Assuming that it drives as well as its predecessors, the only major turn-off for me would be the question of the feel of the interior. Hopefully they didn't pull a Toyota...
 
Everything is the same in the interior department as it was in 2004. And stop comparing Honda to Toyota's current state. Almost every year there new models get awards all over. It's safe to say Honda is not going to make any bad products for awhile.

EDIT: Nvm looked at the wrong interior picture. I'm pretty sure that the quoted picture of the tan interior is an 04' EX.
 
I love how the official photos managed to make me turn from liking the coupe slightly more than the sedan to hating the Coupe and loving the sedan. They both have the manatee front end that the Camry has, but the sedan pulls it off better than either of them.
 
Well, at least we can all be happy that they will still offer a manual transmission as an option...

That pretty much sums it up, I think. I like both, and this new Accord looks light years better than the current Accord to me. On the earlier version of the current gen. Accord, I liked the rear, hated the front. With the update, I thought the Honda gave it an ugly rear to go along with the ugly face. :D

I've always liked the car. I'm just glad it looks good again, copy or not.

got tacked to our Accord on the last facelift, I guess I shouldn't complain.

Maybe it's not the lack of detail, but just the awkward bulginess of the thing...
 
I actually agreed with little bit of both your takes. While I do think the new Accords' rear leave something to be desired, after what they did to their last Accord, on the second thought, just leave it. :lol:
 
Guys, if the camshafts on these engines start failing, don't blame me. All I did was paint the machines...

Maybe add a bit of the new Altima Coupe or the G35 Coupe and you've got yourself a new Accord Coupe. :indiff:

Can't say I'm all that impressed but I like it none the less.
If for nothing else, I'm happy to see the dashboard on the Accord is "normal" and not another attempt at whatever was done with the Civic.
 
The accord actually looks fairly different than the Scion - and better.

Again, completely agreed. The 2007 Accord in both Saloon and Coupe trims are awsome. Now they (2008) look plain and seemingly copied from different automakers. I'm also not thrilled at the steering wheel...its putrid to look at.

I disagree. The only reason one sees Scion in the Accord was that the Scion was derivative and generic by itself. I actually see more Audi TT in the coupe than Scion tC, due to the Accord having sharper lines and creases than the lumpy tC.
