Yeah, Schumacher was watching from some ledge just after the swimming pool in P1. Made for some interesting photographs.

Most famous person there, in my eyes!
Sainte Devote seems particularly hard on Renault. Pity...

Coulthard had a throttle problem and didn't complete a flying lap.

And Lewis takes free practice 2.

First round to Kimi, second to Lewis. Qualifying should be good. Hopefully it rains for the rest of the weekend. Qualifying in the wet around Monaco would be insanity!

Tomorrow should be good as track gets rubbered in. I agree with wet "insanity".👍

Uh..... tomorrow is Friday man. :dunce: Theres nothing on Friday. But yeah, only Monaco is running the Free Practice sessions on Thursday and not Friday. But it does give the team more time to take the time of and relax and enjoy Monte Carlo or work on their cars some more.... 👍

Well, I'm really surprised by Nico's pace in both of the free practices. He was 5th and 2nd fastest in each session. Must be running light or he has just found the perfect setup for Monaco. Either way, great job getting up there. 👍 The McLaren and Ferrari seems pretty even in free practice, but it still doesn't tell whether McLaren are still struggling with their tires or not, need to look out for that in qualifying. Yeah, I'll probably try to catch up watching this on TV this Saturday as I am going on a holiday (so might not go online for a few days.....)

How will McLarens tyre problems be affected by the wet? Will it make them worse or better?

Rosberg running uber-light without any doubt, but what about Trulli? Playing the sandbagger? Having difficulties?

I'll say. Surely Rossberg's strategy is un-raceable? Trulli had contact with wall, breaking suspension I believe. Looks like the 'choker' beat Alonso's '07 fastest lap for P1... I hope Iceman can notch it up for pole. Renault, Renault...:banghead:

Coulthard had a throttle problem and didn't complete a flying lap.

Vettel did the most laps and got the slowest time, thats sad. :indiff:

How will McLarens tyre problems be affected by the wet? Will it make them worse or better?

McLaren have promised that their tyre-problems were related to Turn 8, and Hamilton only. It was obviously a problem last year as well at Turkey, and only for Hamilton, once more.

As for the rain, it depends. If the Wet tyres are built the same way, they'll probably hold better because of the lower grip experienced - hence lower forces. On the other hand, if it dries out (like at Shanghai), everyone will face overheating tyres...

I'll say. Surely Rossberg's strategy is un-raceable?

It's Free Practice. It's not supposed to be raceable, and it's not a strategy. :p

Just seen that the probability of rain on Sunday is 90% and 60% on Saturday. Was the last wet Monaco race the famous one which was stopped half ways through?

A rainy monaco..... recipe for disaster!

Well I think it will be good. Its crazy races like these that the brilliant drivers in under funded or just poor cars do well at. Also fast tyre changes might not be as important as fast noise cone changes! Anyone think that some team might run out of them before the end of the weekend!

It is indeed going to be a crash fest, half of the drivers are not old enough to know Monaco well enough in the dry let alone it bucketing down! Force India for the win! :sly:

But it will make excellent TV like that race in (Brazil?) where they all totalled at the same corner and one nearly hit the safety car!

Robin

Or that 1984 race in Monaco where Senna almost won in one of the worst cars

Wow, that would be very interesting indeed. Almost half of the grid is youngsters and almost all of them haven't raced in the wets yet. (let alone, in Monaco with no aids......) So experince here is crucial and drivers like Rubens, DC, Fisi, and Jarno may benefit from this race........

hehe, posting this from my Ngage. :dopey:

Eh? I'm pretty sure they have. The only ones who haven't raced in the wet in F1 are Glock and Piquet Jr. maybe?

Well, you know what I mean. ;) The fact that most of them are still inexperience and haven't raced in the wet this year yet. (remember, no aids this year.....) Even if they had raced in the wet last year and also did wet weather testing this year, it is still Monaco. Just look at the last wet race in Monaco, only 4 drivers manage to finish......

Seems Kovalainen just gave the wall a love tap coming out of the Swimming Pool complex. Red flag for the practice session, but it only lasted a few minutes.

Weather? It's rainy at the moment, with 90 minutes to go until qualifying... :D

But it will make excellent TV like that race in (Brazil?) where they all totalled at the same corner and one nearly hit the safety car!

Nurburgring 2007: "Plank-surfing" into the first corner, seven cars out (minus Hamilton who returned to the track), Scott Speed's STR baaarely misses the crane.

it wass the Toleman and in heavy rain, Senna passed Lauda in his Mclaren on the outside in the first corner

I wish I could watch that stuff.

Autosport
Kazuki Nakajima and Jenson Button filled out the top ten, while Sebastien Bourdais was an impressive 11th.

It's also worth mentioning that Button once again proved super quick in the intermediate conditions, his Honda lapping more than a second faster than anyone else could manage when the circuit was at its wettest.

GO JENSE!

Yeah, he usually does well in wet conditions.

Good luck to Button!
