Huhu... Gonna be a sad race for me though. Last one for BMW :( But anyway, I have nothing to say about the rest of the grid... Worry about Toyota and Renault future now to be honest. Whatever happens, this is quite a unique track and I think this is going to favour some KERS cars...

What a shame for Glock but I actually would love to see more of Kobayashi this weekend :D So that's all... For BMW fans, you know what to do...

It will be interesting to see what Kobayashi can do. Interlagos was not such a demanding track, this will be a real challenge for him.

At least this time he's on the same footing as everyone else in that no-one knows the circuit.

lol I would like to see Koboyashi on the podium that would be a massive shocker for everyone. But now that the WDC is decided I can go back to being a Kimi fan. And seeing as this is his last race (at least for Ferrari) I'm going to say he will get the win.

If Kobayashi was to podium, anyone think that he would be advanced to the 2nd driver seat? Toyota will have to do some driver tests off-season though, Kobayashi is pretty good.

Sorry to dampen the enthusiasm but I really don't see Kobayashi anywhere near a podium. True, noone has any experience on this track but the significant majority of drivers have considerably more experience of the high pressure qualifying (and I mean in the dry where all things are equal) and race situations.

As for his debut, in my opinion it was nothing short of dangerous and Nakajima is lucky to have walked away from a very nasty accident caused by his poor driving. I sincerely hope, given that he is racing, that someone at Toyota sits him down and has a stern word about the rules of F1 and about curbing his enthusiasm.

I know some may disagree but that's my 2 pence worth anyway. Looking forward to what could be a very interesting grand prix.

Kobayashi on the podium - I'm calling it!

Ultimate cliffhanger for next year. :D

Ah well remember Kubica in 2006?? Only his third race and already he was on the podium at Monza... He could step up to the 2nd seat in Toyota next year and that would be interesting. I think podium in this race is unlikely but who knows :)

EDIT : But I also agree with DGiant2000... He needs to learn the rules and note him that this is not GP2 :p

Not really comparable because Kubica had been the 3rd driver for BMW for a while, doing a lot of laps on Fridays and some tests as well I'm sure.

What about Sakon Yamamoto?

Should be a cracker of a race, everyone's in the same boat in terms of having experience of the track. Button's performance should be interesting, will he relax now there's no pressure to get the title, or will he still give it everything in going for the race win?

(go Kobayashi)

Nice track, but like everything else in the UAE these days, it's overkill. It's a good thing, though - the lighting changes in that pitlane tunnel will provide some entertainment. I think the best part about this GP is that none of the drivers have ever driven the course, so it's a learning experience for everyone!

I don't think that's really going to be a factor, nPWRD. A lot of the drivers run simulators in advance, and Jenson Button reckons most of the drivers will know the circuit after about three or four laps. They may not know it perfectly such that they can get the best lap times, but they will know it well enough to be competitive.

In other news, Brawn have done another one-race deal with Qtel, Qatar Telecommunications.

If we get Sato back too, then 2010 will be the greatest season of them all!

No!

What the heck, let's bring Yuji Ide back while we're at it!

No!

What about Sakon Yamamoto?

NO! BLOODY NO!

What the hell is going to be next? Bring back Prost? Bring back Senna? Bring back Schumacher?

YOU'RE CRAZY! ALL CRAZY!

TAXI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the best part about this GP is that none of the drivers have ever driven the course,

None of the drivers had driven Valencia before the 2008 race and it was one of the most boring of the season.

and Kobayashi!

I'm actually looking forward to the race, What time will it be on in America?

All aboard the Kobayashi hype train express!

Mm... never thought of that... however, I can be pretty sure that no one driver will totally dominate (I think, don't quote me on that).

It will be on at 8am EST so that should help you with what ever time zone you are in.

But this season has gone by in a flash. It seemed like a few months ago we were going over preseason testing now we are already at the last race.

Oh and on the topic of simulators I'd have to agree with Nick Hiedfield that the simulators are not a major advantage. Sauber doesn't have one but even the teams that do have a simulator are not going to have a huge advantage going into this weekend any more then just watching video of the track being driven. The simulator would not be an accurate representation of the track and would probably be no better then user created mods for games like GTR2 or rFactor. I seriously doubt any of the teams went out and laser scanned the track to make sure it was accurate. Instead they just went off of pictures and blue prints. So going into this race I would say the simulator isn't going to help anymore then what we already know from youtube. but I could be proven wrong.

Kobayashi? Top ten, if he's lucky... he was well off the pace of the front runners in the race, but did quite a respectable job before the Nakajima crash... and he's in a fast car... he should do fine.

If the simulation was made from engineering blueprints... then it'll be helpful, at least, for learning the lay of the track, except the bumps. I seriously doubt anyone would be using a blueprint without accurate dimensions and elevations in it, as that would be worse than useless.
