Nah, good write up. Looking forward to the Grand Prix

Every time I watch an onboard lap at Monaco, and after trying to race on it with F1CE. I am more convinced that those that can pilot an F1 car around this track are from Krypton. :) I love to watch this race though its a MUST see event.

I know what you're talking about! Every time I come across an on-board lap of Monaco I end up watching it multiple times in a row. This circuit just amazes me, I absolutely love it.

I hope that prediction isn't true, I've had a 50p bet with a mate that Webber won't get onto the podium! (I bet against him saying he would).

Weather forecast is sunny for Thursday, Saturday and Sunday so no rain for Monaco, not that it needs it.
I'll go for a podium of:
Barrichello, Button and Vettel
with points for:
Trulli, Hamilton, Ferrari, Alonso and Williams

I'm hoping for a Trulli win and if not him then Barrichello. It will probably be Button or Vettel though. Massa might get a look in for the win though if their car has made the step forward Spain showed.

Yes, indeed. I'm highly placing the Red Bulls this weekend. They were fast without the diffuser, but now they've got their hands on one 👍 Newey had to redesign most of the front in able to get a good air flow as possible, but the fact that Red Bull waited untill Monaco, and not took one in use ASAP makes me think their new parts will make the car even faster. and we all know how fast the RB5 already is...

Still crossing my fingers for a Toyota podium, even if they seemed to have lost the thread at Barcelona 👍

Monaco, a personal favourite of mine, it has the most beautiful surroundings and the biggest challenge of the year. Let's hope it doesn't rain.

Let's hope it doesn't rain.

I'm doing raindances right now! Is it so easy to forget 1982, 1996 or 2008? Rain + Monaco =
Then again, yes I hope it doesn't rain, so then I win my 50p :p

Don't expect to see an exiting race full of overtaking, this is Monaco. Whoever gets first will most likely stay there unless the impossible happens, overtaking, or the more possible, crashing. To be honest, i'm not looking forward to this race, I might probably just fall asleep. Massa for the win!!!!!!!!!

I shall assume that Brawn will win in the Dry, IF there is rain, we might see some different teams (I.E. Force India) in the points. Sutil + Monaco + Rain = Points?

(Sutil + Monaco + Rain) - Kimi = Points.

Not that it was anything either could have avoided.

What about Massa+Rain-reliability problems-bad team decisions=win?

What about it? He's still going to have to go through the Brawns, the Red Bulls and possibly the Toyotas on a circuit that is notorious for being difficult to overtake on. If it rains, expect Vettel first and daylight second.

I'm actually anticipating a really, really epic pass for this race. I dunno why, but for some reason, I can see a badass pass happening at Portier, and then the two drivers battling it out all the way down the tunnel until...

My imagination cuts out at that point :( But I think the BGP and RBR cars are quite capable over takers, so it should be interesting :D

Red Bull Racing didn't wait out of choice - they were just slower developing a double-decker and they admitted to this. On all the cars that weren't designed with one in mind, teams had to relocate and repackage the rear components in order to free up space for the enlarged diffuser - and that is a race determined by the initial packaging and production-capacities of the factory. The top teams such as Ferrari and McLaren can redesign the entire rear, and manufacture it, far faster than a smaller team such as Red Bull can. Add that to the fact that the RBR's rear end was the tightest, lowest package in the field (designed to optimally utilize the existing diffusers), which only complicated the matter of moving everything in the new diffuser's way.

What about it? He's still going to have to go through the Brawns, the Red Bulls and possibly the Toyotas on a circuit that is notorious for being difficult to overtake on. If it rains, expect Vettel first and daylight second.

The current order is a big unknown: First, the Barcelona updates haven't been fully assessed and fine-tuned - and even then Massa qualified 5th on the heaviest fuel-load in the top eight - and second, Monaco cars have different aero - who knows how/if the Brawn package will suffice.

There was an article on Formula1.com yesterday - and just my luck, I can't find it - where Toyota were talking about how they'll go about changing the aerodynamics for Monaco this year and apparently the changes are far less inclusive than they have been in previous years.

You say the Barcelona changes haven't been fully assessed, but what's to say that what works for Catalunya will work for Monaco? Sure, the circuits are similar, but that doesn't mean they're identical. On a race-by-race basis, Brawn are still the team to back because they've been the most consistent.

Some Barcelona changes will carry on, because they're general updates - the rear suspension, for example, is slightly different to accommodate the double-decker diffuser introduced at the same time, and those are features that will remain for every race, and need to be fine-tuned. Whenever a team introduces updates, it needs to understand them and set them up properly - which is tougher now without in-season testing - and when you go as far as to produce a whole new chassis that weighs 10kg less (and is constructed differently), it takes a while to reach the "sweet spot" again.

And yes, changes this year will be less dramatic - after all, we don't have flip-ups winglets that are the traditional "Monaco dresscode" - but they'll be present. Brawn didn't change much on their car during the first five rounds, and now's the time to prove they can keep up with the development wars, or at least properly use the head-start they had.

First blood to Brawn. But then, when this year has the race ever reflected the timing sessions? After all, Rosberg has topped eight of the sixteen so far, and look how many wins he has to his name ...

surprised to see Brawn P1. Both they and Red Bull havnt bothered to push all that hard in the Friday(cough thursday) prac sessions.
Vettel's engine blew after 16 laps and I think Webber's car had some sort of problem too.

I hope the RBR boys were smart enough to take a used one for Friday/Thursday practices.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, Kubica is already on his 4th engine.
