Just to back up some of the things I mentioned and part of my reasons they arnt just fantasy or unlikely to appear.

Kikizo October 11th 2007

Interview with Yamauchi:

Yamauchi: I think they have different levels of damage, perhaps depending on their relationships with each of the brands. What I mean is, there is still a limitation that still exists within the agreements that we have with car manufacturers, even with the example of Forza; one car will be more damaged than another, and that is probably because they are limited with that brand. And that would apply to us as well. To clarify, our main objectives are to raise the bar for AI, physics, car modelling, sixteen cars on the track, 1080p, 60fps, these kinds of things - the core of the racing game category, we want to bring the standards to a high level.
Of course, on our road map, yes we have damage, we have changing weather etcetera, but we will get to that once we build our pillars first; those are details that you can add afterwards.

Yamauchi: Looking at the top of the Mypage, you will be able to put on the global map where you are located, it will display your time zone in your local area, and you will be able to see other players online who you have met - maybe someone in London or so on - and you will see on the map where they are, their time zone, and their weather, and it gives a more intense experience by getting to know them online. The scheduler you see here will help players do their schedule management, remind you of race events that are coming up, and things of that nature.

Kikizo April 3rd 2008

Kikizo: I'm being told to finish up, so I've got one more question for you. GT5: you've got 1080p, you've got 60 frames per second - what's next?

Yamauchi: That's an early question. [Laughs] First, while working at this resolution and this frame rate, we'd like to try to get weather and a lot of lighting effects added to the game.

So their you go ...
On several interviews weather and lighting has been mentioned and with the earlier screenshots perhaps the first to show this.
Recently again Yamauchi said they had reached the level they wanted with the cars so they were focusing on trackside and enviroment improvements for the game.
I for one would welcome day/night cycles and varying race weather and hopefully with updated/new improved lighting/shading the games jaggies particulary in certain shadows will now also be improved.

I'll just bet any day now there going to announce a fantastic big update that will please everyone, and we will all be content.:dopey:

Sarcasim in case you missed it.

Big Fail Update. lol

It wont come anymore, dont keep your hopes up.
But maybe GT5 will come faster without this update, maybe they changed priorities.

IF SPec 3 is big.Whats SPEc 2 update? it has 30 cars 1 track and other add=on..They didint tell BIG about Spec 2..i have 15 days

True, but where and when did PD ever say it was going to be a 'BIG' fall update? I think the 'big' part has come from some hopeful fans wishing for damage, online lobbies etc. to be incorporated in to an Autumn update.

I don't think we'll be seeing an update with 30 cars or anywhere near that amount. Hopefully, we'll get a new track and online racing improvements (I'm hoping for customisation of private games using Home). Not too bothered about new cars. There are cars I still haven't driven yet!

Just a couple more tracks, that's all I'm after.

Deep Forest, Grand Valley Speedway. Even those would do.

+1 👍

He didn't say BIG, he just said MAJOR :sly:

Just to remind people, this is from April this year:

"Q: Will the US get the content that was added to the UK version?

Yamauchi: The Japanese version was updated to match the UK version on the day of the UK release, so they are now the same. And the US version that's coming out is going to be pretty much the same as the UK version.

There are still a lot of things we have left un-done in GT5 Prologue, so by fall [autumn] this year there will be another major update to the game.

Q: What sort of content can we expect from the update?

Yamauchi: The major things that we're planning for the update will be to add community building features such as communication between players and also damage for the cars.

Q: Damage? Awesome. And the online part of the game will be improved, too?

Yamauchi: Yes, there'll be a focus on the online mode."

Source? a simple search, using the keywords "KY" and "Interview" ...

Thank you PD! Don"t make me Laugh again. Don"t tell a lie to GTFans.. This game is not deserve 80$ J n P without Updates! I trusted Taku then I bought both version.. AND give my bux back.

SO December 21st is first day of winter... December 20th Is pretty much the last day of FALL, as well it's my Birth day.. So PD, it would be a nice B-day surprise for me for a cool update ;) *cough cough, damage, cough*

My guess goes for London.

It is indeed London

Download the Citreon Video and skip through parts then view frame by frame.
You can see the road markings for "HYDE PARK" which is in the current track.

It proves indeed day-night light cyles will be coming at some point.
However it's already been mentioned the enviroment graphics will be enchanced over what we have currently in Prologue.

Pretty sure there won't be a huge update, unfortunately...

Their will be more, but it's a matter of when than if....
Still we can hope that with the official release of HOME further features will appear to improve the games playability online...

On April 4 the series creator, Kazunori Yamauchi, declared "There are still a lot of things we have left un-done in GT5 Prologue, so by fall this year there will be another major update to the game".[29]

Earlier on March 18, 2008, the North American version producer, Taku Imasaki, already announced planned updates involving online community features would be available after April 17.[30] This was later confirmed by Yamauchi himself "The major things that we're planning for the update will be to add community building features such as communication between players."[31]

During a press event in London on April 4, Martin Robinson from IGN has reported in an interview with Kazunori Yamauchi that vehicle deformation (damage modelling) will be added to Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Spec II through a future update. "Maybe by Fall [2008] we'll be able to implement it"[32][33] Yamauchi mentioned.

The same day Yamauchi explained to CVG's Mike Jackson that "in terms of quality and features of the game, and in terms of functionality, GT5 Prologue will ultimately reach an equivalent level to GT5. I think the major difference between Prologue and GT5 will be the number of cars and courses that will be included within the game, in that there will be many more."[34]

During an interview with IGN on July 17, 2008, when asked about the progress on the damage patch, Yamauchi answered, "Our plans haven't changed, and we're working on it. But this is Gran Turismo, so it might be a little bit late." This suggests that the update could miss its Autumn release date.[35]

In October 2008, the 'Spec III' update was released for GT5 Prologue. This was a major update, thus adding further doubts to there being a new update released in the Autumn; seeing as two large updates are rarely released so close to each other

We all know what the representatives said about it but it's weither they are going to decide to deliver The Update. Everyone thought GT5 would be released no sooner than 2010 and that came to false and even laughed at by Mr Gran Turiskmo. Only time will tell. If it arrives I'm happy if it doesnt arrive sure i'll be disappointed but will not get in a fuss over it because GT5 is coming for Xmas Next Year and i'll happily wait till Next Xmas :) Prologue Is fully worth it's money already no need to blap saying I paid for my Copy I deserve the world type of thing.

"Our plans haven't changed, and we're working on it. But this is Gran Turismo, so it might be a little bit late."
January confirmed :)

I haven't played GT5p in awhile. I hope they add private rooms so bad. My racing setup is collecting dust, and I miss GT so much. I just got to tired of racing people for nothing other then something to do. Organized GTP events other then time trials would be so much fun. It would literally make this game last forever. Another thing I would love, would be some sort of stat tracking. It would be great to know how many times I have finished 1st, or more than likely 5th or 6th in a race. I am a stat fanatic when it comes to sports. I know stats haven't even been discussed, but hopefully the full GT5 will have all the stats I could ever want.

Another thing I just thought of (I know I'm giving a little wish list, but I can't help it), is if they add in game chatting. It would really be nice if you could only here and talk to people who are within 10 car lengths or so. That way the channel wouldn't be cluttered with people talking, that didn't have anything to do with your position in the race. It would really help being able to keep the races clean, and at the same time, you wouldn't be flooded with people's chatter the whole time. Socom does something like this. It's their proximity chat. If your close enough to someone, you can talk to them without having to push in the talk button. then they here you through their speakers instead of headset. It can really help keep mic chatter down, but not to many people actually use it.

Why do you say such a thing? No, January is not confirmed, and if you read super fla's "Amateur" interview with the man himself ("Amateur" as in ... better than a "professional" would do it :D ) I think it gets very obvious that:

a) any major improvement will only be available in the full game.

b) the full game is now the priority in PD's Headquarters, and could be released sooner than anyone was expecting back then (Xmas 2010). So, the only reasonable hope we have now doesn't concern PROLOGUE. It concerns the release date of GT5 (we are now hoping for a 2009 release)

... but nothing is confirmed

I personally think if they had a chance to implement damage in GTP, it would be a great testing ground for them. That way it can be spot-on when it gets into the full game.

I don't know if this has been brought up before (probably many times)

We are officially down to 2 weeks for the fall season , was spec III the big fall update ? , or do we still keep our fingers, eyes, toes crossed for the " big one " ? The clock is ticking.

oooops , it says 00:00 , and nothing happened :guilty::(:indiff:

3. You have to wonder though why the most recent October 3rd screenshots showed illuminated headlamps on the Citreon and different sky or night cycles yet nothing much has been said regards these. It may be that we wont see weather effects, and realtime 24HR day cycle regards lighting in Prologue but I strongly feel they will be part of GT5 full release and these alone will add greatly to the game. Why else would the games "My Page" use time/weather/track information if it wasnt going to be used.

I dont see any day night cycles. Maybe the day and night will be like previous day and night in the GT games where it was either day or night but no day or night cycles between. Also PD need to do something with the headlight projection. If its like all other GT games then the only light projection was only on the immediate area in front of the car but not projected like real car lights.

Where did you get the january confirmation? Post links.

That may still be the case, that the tracks have new or different lighing to various times of the day as available options.

I dont think it would be heard to incorporate a full enviromental lighting for day-night cycles as many games these days use an increased time effect for day-night cycles. It could play a big part on endurance races and possibly long term racing events. Particulary as the game has been confirmed as having weather effects. So if changable weather is possible why not lighting?

Of course none of this day-night lighiting is confirmed but when was it a crime to hope for such things?
Taking on board how "location, weather, timezone" seem to play an intricate part of the games "My Page" with players you can meet/play online.
Not to mention on several occasions the devs have said GT5 will network players in ways other games havnt.

I never said it was a crime to hope for such things and it wouldnt be that easy to implement day - night cycles. We all have hopes of things we want in GT5 but we wont all get what we want. For Instance I would like 2 or 3 trucks and a few vans in GT5 but I am almost sure I wont see them in there. I know I will get flamed for that with people saying that they dont belong in GT games:rolleyes: ( I only want to see 2 or 3 of each)

Yeah but im giving/showing that thier is a reasonable possible chance for such because it's to the benifit of simulation and unlike your trucks idea doesnt require any issues like licenscing etc.

Adding changable weather and lighting would take the game forward both in simulation and gameplay terms and imo its only logical if they have an advanced lighting system now in place for the game that adding a 24hr sequence to it wouldnt be that hard to implement.

It's a forum for discussing the game and possibilities, not everything just has to be accurate or indeed confirmed to be worthy of discussion and some that want proof of everything or indepth reasons to everything mentioned should lighten up a little.

I agree with yopu in most of what you say but you still say that it wouldnt be that hard to implement Day - Night cycles but it isnt that easy to do. I myself would love to see this added also but if PD does decide not to add the weather and lighting effects then I respect their decisions.

Another two things I would like to see are (1) Engine swaps (from the same manufacturer) and (2) conversion from FWD to RWD and Conversion from 2WD - 4WD.
