Well yes it may sound funny but after what they've been through this year, yet it's not a funny stuff to laugh at them... I will say poor them that everything has gone wrong through the whole year... :(

I am serious... Yeah you're not a BMW fan after all...

:lol: That's the way it goes...they obviously ain't got their **** together this year...and same with Ferrari. You're acting like they've had to endure some type of hardship out of THEIR control :rolleyes:

Right... that is abviously the way it goes... that's racing and a life in the fast lane, things can go wrong no matter when...

But still it's not funny... They obviously didn't damaged the engine for the race but for the use of practice, kinda worried about the valve. I've been a BMW fan for years but this is by far one of the worst season for them. Anyway, sorry if I was a bit harsh on my words... :)
 
Today's Practice sessions where a bit of a waste of time. The rules about intermediate tyres has to be looked at.

It certainly was a waste of time... Most cars only got out of their garage 15 minutes right before the session ended...

The have to do something with the inter tyres rules...
 
My understanding was that a lot of the driver didn't go out until the end because the rain was too heavy. Sutil was seven seconds off Kovalainen's first practice time, and I can't imagine that affords you a lot of feedback. Especially not when you're expecting a dry race and the first practice was also a washout.

Also they couldn't use any inters because they only have 2 sets left after first practice...

Well yeah, that too ... but when the first session is dominated by heavy rain and the fastest lap time in the second is seven seconds off the pace, you'd think the teams would run the extreme wets. From the looks of things, it was at least as heavy as Sepang was.

I guess they might have wanted to save Wet tyres too if they only had 3 sets of those?

Oh, I'm sorry if it bothered you, I guess I wouldn't laugh at it either in front of Mario Theissen.

In fact, not being exactly a BMW fan, I do like their team and it sure would make my day if they got a farewell win in these last few 2009 GPs.

Maybe, but the forecast is for a dry race. The exact phasring is "sunny patches", though I seriously doubt it will go from what we saw today to sunny several times over the course of a race.

That's owkey mate... No big deal...

I would love to see them win at least one more race or a podium finish before the end of the season... Apparently their only chance would only be either in here, Suzuka or the Yas Marina... If it's Yas Marina, that would really make my life!!!
 
You know? I know the F1 schedule is a complex thing and one small change effects everything else. But... after 20 or so years of racing at Suzuka, couldn't the FIA not have this race there in September? September is the rainiest time of year for that area and for the life of me I can't remember a dry Suzuka weekend (Especially the last 10 or so). It's a shame because this track is brilliant but the race is always hampered by rain (and typhoons!). Making it a spring race would be much better. Granted the weather has caused some brilliant racing but for once I'd love to see the cars rip around on a completely dry track.

Regardless. it's nice to see the cars back at Suzuka after wasting their time at Fuji these past few years.
 
September is a rainy time for most of Asia, but especially Japan, Taiwan, China coast and the Philippines. Yes, Fuji was very wet as well. That though, as opposed to Suzuka, made watching any race at Fuji even more painful.

what is with everyone in this thread being so serious? (hmmm im sure i could insert a joker picture here with the why so serious but that would be bad taste right?)

but the wets and super wets tire rules definitely need to be relooked at because it will be a bad race come Sunday if the teams have to go on a 1 stop strategy due to lack of tires. but i thought they had 4 sets to play with not 3?

As far as my memory goes, most of the Suzuka races I've seen, if not all, were dry. There was that the legendary 2007 race, but that was Fuji.

The problem with Fuji is that its right at the base of Moun Fuji, and therefore right in it rain-shadow. That's whywe had that moronicepisode where the circuit was shrouded in fog.
 
There's nothing wrong with Fuji, it's a great track, and it deserves its place as co-host of the Japanese GP, although they really should give Autopolis a go, it has all the facilities, and they all just sit there gathering dust.

Super GT will be there in about 2 weeks. Plus Formula Nippon was just there last weekend. :dunce:

In which parallel universe does Fuji compete with Suzuka as being a "great track"?
 
Suzuka is better of course, but Fuji is not bad either. Why do you guys seem to hold a grudge against Fuji?
 
The run-off areas make it look like a parking lot and the corners are very meh.
 
Fuji is a fantastic track.
