Suzuka is better of course, but Fuji is not bad either. Why do you guys seem to hold a grudge against Fuji?

It's not a grudge against Fuji, but it's the fact that Suzuka is better. I mean, Imola and Donnington are not bad tracks, but I'd be pretty upset if they replaced Monza and Silverstone.

+1 :) Fuji's great...although not as good as Suzuka IMO, it has a great combination of fast flowing corners and a tight technical section.
 
Webber's knackered his car in FP3 and won't be taking part in Qualifying...

Brawn are pretty much guaranteed Constructors Championship now... unless of course Rain throws some spanners into the race!!

:lol: About an hour ago I had a feeling that Redbull was going to completely CHOKE again...man they really do a good job of throwing things away when they have the oppurtunity :rolleyes: They will probably have the fastest car this weekend to...and now this...
 
It showed with Vettel's stellar lap in Q1! :eek:
 
Good call from me if I may say so...at least through Q1 :lol: : "I suspect we will see RBR on top this weekend, as I believe this circuit will really suit them well and they have a talented driver line up to attack this difficult track...not to mention they supposedly have upgrades coming for every race until the end of the season. I believe Brawn and Mclaren will also do quite well here. I'm hoping Toyota put in a strong showing at their home Grand Prix...which their capable of doing as long as they can get the tires to work."

Q1 as follows: 1st Vettel, 2nd Hamilton, 3rd Button, 4th Truli

On another note, great drive from Buemi, especially recovering from the early spin in Q1:tup: The RBR chassis really seems to work well around here with it's good aero and low CG.

And wow...Kovi really seemed to be struggling from the onboard shots...time to sack his arse :lol:

Immense drive from the extremely talented Vettel :bowdown: I'd hate to imagine what he and that car would have been capable of with MB power :crazy:
 
really nice drive by vettle. but that qualifying was just damaging to almost all teams it seems. 6 total crashes, and it was probably best that buemi's car couldn't be repaired for Q3 or else he might have crashed a third time. but sounds like mothing major to glock so he will probably miss the race and be back for brazil
 
Man... that Q2 was more action packed than most races. :lol:

Incredibly dangerous qualifying... people going off everywhere... it's amazing that Brawn got through to Q3 while driving on a track covered in debris.

This is good for Vettel's title hopes... but Button is still within the top 10. He only needs to vault a few places to squash Vettel's chances at the title.
 
Most epic Qualifying session I've seen in a while.

Tough luck for for Kaz Nakajima.

Does anyone know the weather forecast for tomorrow's race? That'd be a race if it rained a bit.

Word is that its not so bad, he may still race.

What a crazy session, glad I got up for it. Buemi should be penalised for driving around with that damaged car, even the average Gran Turismo player knows not to drive slow around 130R with cars going at race speed!

After all the people complaining about tarmac run off being "too easy", perhaps this is a wake up call for them?
Would we rather they add tarmac or reprofile Degner completely? I know I'd prefer to have Degner with tarmac than no Degner at all. A tricky one really, because none of the drivers were injured, so its not unsafe in that respect.
 
Still no word from the Brawn Q2 times? It's pretty obvious they didn't back off under yellow...
 
Six drivers have been called before the stewards on charges of speeding under yellows: Button, Barrichello, Kubica, Heidfeld, Alonso and Sutil. Sutil is also up on an additional charge of blocking.

If all six drivers are up for penalties, I'd say fines are probably more appropriate than annulling times. Because with Glock and Alguersuari taking 14th and 15th (even if Glockisn't competing), the stewards will have to use Q1 times to decide the order. And if all six get hit, that means two or three will be in the top ten with Q1 times only, which doesn't sound too fair. The order will be so scrambled that qualifying is essentially negated altogether. So I'd say fnes are more appropriate.
 
Alonso? Heh, after Renault apparently complained to the stewards about the Brawn Q2 times when they themselves are also offenders? Why does that not surprise me in the slightest?
Alonso even said "perhaps some people weren't backing off for the yellows...", I wonder if all 6 of them are not actually being charged and if they are giving evidence.
 
We don't know who's exactely been speeding under yellow but for the two Brawns it was pretty obvious. They didn't even had a laptime at the time of the Buemi incident. In Button's case there's no arguing at all because the cameras were following his lap. He went full speed trough the debris ignoring a very visible waved yellow.
 
WHOW!!! What a qualifying session it was!!! I am very surprised that most drivers crashed there... Unbelievable.. Anyway, that was exciting as hell!!!

I am curious that some drivers before the end of Q2, the yellow that was, 6 or 7 drivers didn't slow down for the yellow but obviously the one that I saw speeding there was Button on TV... Glock has a left leg injury and might not be able to race tomorrow... Congrats to Vettel for his pole... I'd say, after all the dissapointment for BMW this weekend, I think they have a good chance For tomorrow!!! This is going to be a hack of a race to date with yet!!!

Question: did he see it? Depending on the position of the yellow relative to the debris, the relative speed of that particular second of track and the fact that he was following Barrichello's route, he may have missed it. And if Barrichello didn't back off, Button may not have seen a thing. It sounds like a simple scenario, but there was a lot going on.

Alonso claims he backed off and told the Spanish press that he expects to start higher than twelfth, but I'm not so sure. I crunched the numbers and taking into account the severity and the number of the charges, works out that the grid will look like this if all get their Q2 times annulled:

1 - Vettel
2 - Trulli

4 - Raikkonen
5 - Kovalainen
6 - Rosberg
7 - Button
8 - Barrichello
9 - Alonso
10 - Kubica
11 - Heifeld

I don't see no reason to change Degner 1. Look back at 2006, we had no big accidents at Degner 1. Why? Maybe this year, they have no data with the new car because of rain and for those who don't have much experience in the car no less F1 in general(I.E. Buemi and Algasurari). Besides Webber who had a ride height issue and Heikki seemed to have lost it before the corner causing him to have a bad entry and go wide(or pressure from the team to do well >.>), all the major issues were with rookies who have never been there before and have no experience with tracks that you MUST stay on or else. So they thought they can take it a bit further.

I agree, it doesn't need to be changed but its going to come up and it does prove the point about gravel traps being rubbish for their job, at Degner its not so important but at some tracks and corners there have been complaints about making it too easy when it does make a lot of sense safety wise.

But I don't want them to take away the difficulty and attrition from Suzuka, so the gravel traps should remain, its bad enough that they took them away from Spoon and turn 2.

Evidently the stewards feel differently about it.

I do hope they get Alonso. I found his coments about how he expects to start higher up the grid to be really rather arrogant.

Yeah as predicted... He was summoned and he also impeded Heidfeld or Kubica during the replay but I believe it was Heidfeld... I don't care anymore but he should've stopped his car at the side of the track rather than limping and impeding someone else...

EDIT : Both BMWs and Alonso were also being summoned by the FIA...

EDIT : Also both the Brawns...
