I think they are running a stupidly high-downforce setup-Vettel was taking turn 1 in fourth.

Well TA,the more downforce you can create on your car,the more speed you loose on the straights!!look at for example Bruno Senna,He is flying on the straights, but also has to brake 20 meters earlier to get the car slowed down enough to even make it to turn in to the corner!!...So it seems the RBR cars can create the most efective downforce of the whole field!!...

Absolutaly fantastic lap by Vettel today...Wow he whas on and over the limit on the entier lap and still managed to get poleposition out of it!!!He will be for sure the man to beat this year,he is in top shape, his car too but only if it doesn't fail like many times last year and the previous race...!!

My prediction for tomorrow:

1:Webber(would really like to see him win in front of his home crowd)
2:Alonso(respect for his amazing talent to be fast in any car)
3:Schumi(just would like to see him on the podium again)
4:Vettel(somehow have the feeling something will go wrong again...)
5:Massa(solid race, but not faster than Alonso)
6:Rosberg(quick in one lapping, but not during a race)
7:Button(Mclaren doesn't have the pace yet)
8:Sutil(If he survives the first lap,he will do fine...)
9:Hamilton(good start,but thats it...)
10:Senna(HHHHHuuuggge crash in turn one after the start, and the Senna name is in the points list once again..!!!...loool)

This list is only based on hope...lol.

And your 9th and 10th place finishers are...?

wait so when does this start UK time? Stupid clocks changing

Red Bull seem to have a higher downforce, almost traditionally. Also the Renault engine is quoted to down some 70 BHP. The only way to combat this is with higher corner speed, allowing higher exit speed.
It was reasonably obvious last race, when Nico was unable to get a decent enough run to challenge the crippled RB.

This doesn't seem so ridiculous when your starting 1-2, though.

Yea, I basically said that in my post 👍 :dopey: "The RBR must be running a good bit of downforce judging by their trap speed relative to the factory Renault cars."

It was also interesting to note how closely the 6th and 7th gears were spaced on the RBR compared to some of the other cars.

70hp is a HUGE difference. Most sources seem to believe the difference is something like 30hp or so, although IIRC Renault will be able to do some modifications to their engines this season to make up some ground in that area. 30hp is a pretty significant margin, but peak hp doesn't tell the entire story of course, as other factors like driveability, power curve, and fuel mileage are just as important.

Exactly, the fact that the Renault engine is their choice, and it has been down on power for a few years, is essentially an ingenious risk to have better economy and a lighter fuel load. Both an innovative interpretation of the new ruling.

Rain will make things interesting definitely, Hoping that Sutil will make it through the first corner this time :D, I think the 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions are pretty clear though.

I think RBR have it in the bag already, on the formation lap  theyre running such high downforce...

Damn... did you see that Ferrari go? And Kamui Kobayashi goes flying!

Sucks for Alonso and Schumacher... but Alonso and Schumi are now making places back through the backmarkers.

Go Kubica! Third now!

Brave pitwork from Mclaren... Button lost out initially by going to slicks, but now he's cutting up the field and is up to third place! Amazing! At this rate, he's going to overtake the Red Bulls!

No! Vettel pits! Webber pits! Button up to second behind Vettel on cold tires!

Hamilton up to 7th. webber down to 6th... it's RBR versus McLaren at two different points on the field. Hamilton now posting fastest laps.

Alonso back up to 10th.

Rain makes every race more interesting... :D

That was pretty amazing, absolutely unbelievable...I was confused when he went to the pit...

Vettel is still in it to win it... RBR really has those pit stops down pat... and his 4.3 second stop was enough to put him way out ahead of everyone else... he's still holding ahead of Button...

Alonso on an absolute charge back up the grid.

The Mclarens are falling back from the RBRs now that the RBR slicks are up to temperature. Rotten luck... I guess their qualifying woes were indicative of a real lack of pace compared to the RBRs.

Ouch... did Wonder-bread (Lewis) push Webber off? Oh... Webber too deep on the brakes, Hamilton managed to back off just in time to keep Webber from collecting him on the way off the track.

This race is NUTS so far

Glad to see Alonso back up to 7th already (somehow :scared:), and catching up with Hamilton and Massa quite quickly :)

Michael may be fast over a single lap, but Schumi just not as in shape as Fernando Alonso... Alonso made absolute mincemeat of the field on his charge back up from the rear... Michael is now being held up by... of all people... Jamie Algesuari... very well, I might add.

Hamilton no threating Massa, but Alonso is pulling up on him even faster... It's a Ferrari sandwich!

EDIT: Hamilton takes Massa down the main straight... in the scrimmage as Massa tries to take the position back, they back Alonso up and Webber takes him out!

Both Ferraris struggling with oversteer...

Webber should've yielded there - he had zero chance of saying on that track with that effort... he'd be only 1 place back - instead of 3 - made Lewis lose a place to Massa too... although - it doesn't matter - Lewis has just done Massa...

EDIT: And then Webber slipped past Alonso...

What happened to the procesion?!?!

EDIT2 : and Lewis may have lost a wing though...

EDIT3 : but it doesn't look like it matters...

As long as the track isn't hot, we'll have a good race!

No more rain forecast... but the specter of rain will hang on the minds of the teams as they come in for the next set of pits.

If it doesn't rain every race after this, they should set up sprinklers just to give us a good show.

Webber is monstering Massa now... on an absolute charge... he's the fastest guy on track.

EDIT: LH's wing doesn't matter because he's still faster than Nico in front of him and Massa behind him is being held up having to defend from Webber. They might still replace it next pit...

Or, if not... they've found the silly piece that was making LH's car so slow in qualifying...

Damnit! Vettel is out!!!!!

AGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHY GOD, WHY?!? THIS WAS GOING TO BE HIS YEAR!!!!!!!

:ouch: :grumpy: :( :indiff:

Argghh. I hope Hamilton can get by Kubica sometime soon. Would be nice to see him try and make a charge at Button in the last half of the race.

Massa is now holding back Alonso... Kubica is a rolling chicane for Hamilton, and his defense has allowed Rosberg to pull back up on him, with Webber in hot pursuit. If Webber can make it around Rosberg and attack Hamilton as he rides in Kubica's wake, RBR could pull something out of this race...

Whoops... Webber pits... but that might help him.

UPDATE: Vettel had reported vibration before his off... pit radio confirms front left brake failure.
