Make no mistake, Ferrari have made a massive step forward in terms of pace this weekend. Look at the consistency of Alonso's times compared to Webber's, (Vettel seemed to have no answer after his pit) Ultimate pace around here is nip and tuck but the overall consistency of Alonso mind blowing.

More like because of the off-throttle ban.
But yeah, Ferrari have made a step forward but not massive.

Notable expressions to look out for after the race:

Webber: :grumpy:
Hamilton: :grumpy:
Massa:

Red Bull, a team that doesn't employ team orders unless Vettel is in trouble. :p

Wow what a race  Silverstone .Alot of talking points but see what the boys say about it first.

Congratz on Alonso, it's not the best race but more better than Valencia. :D
I put it no. 2 just below Canada.

19? No, 16.5, pit stop cost Vettel at least 5 seconds. Racing with Hamilton cost him a lot of time, and the battle with Webber at the end also cost him time. Alonso would have been in Vettels position.

5+ 10 seconds dicing with other drivers, still 5 seconds off, but you are obviously a red bull fan, so nevermind. Good to see team orders back, denying us viewers racing are you?

Pity the commentary team missed it.

So does this mean, as with Alonso when it was said that his title would have been worthless as it was team orders that would have given it, does it mean SV's is now also worthless.

True with the Mapping. I wonder what ferrari have up their sleeve in terms of their map? Their customer teams are Sauber and Toro Rosso, and Sauber where one of the more vocal team's against the new rulings this weekend.

Good race by all. Shame we couldn't see Vettel vs Alonso, not sure why Vettel was 1-2 seconds a lap slower than Alonso, spent tyres perhaps?

A lot of Ferrari's current pace is down to the massive development they've been pouring into the past few races. Part of the reason for the increase in the pace of development is that they've fixed a flaw in their wind tunnel testing calibration... and that's translating into results rather quickly.

No conspiracy. Even last season, when RBR had the full benefit of having the best car at the start of the season, Ferrari have been able to step up development quickly mid-season.

I suspect that the team order of Red Bull came in the spur of realising that Ferrari might be starting the championship chase. Nothing new in the world of F1 really...

Who thought Massa was going to pass Hamilton? And do you think Webber would've passed Vettel if it wasn't for the team order?

To be honest it would still have been Vettel's win had the pit crew not :dunce:d on the head. Although Alonso was so much faster! even after he'd gotten ahead of Vettel by accident :dunce:

Who thought Massa was going to pass Hamilton? And do you think Webber would've passed Vettel if it wasn't for the team order?

Massa was already ahead of Hamilton when Hamilton made his desperation move on Massa. And I would have liked Webber to pass Vettel, but it wasn't gonna happen probably.

Here's Christian Horner's excuses :D

Haha, a proper trophy for the winner, generic Santander crap for the rest.

Christian Horner getting asked by BBC, "I thought Red Bull Racing were not a team for giving team orders?"

Webber always ignores them anyway I think, he went for it.

I thought massa was going to pass, but didnt expect it to be easy!:)

Webber would have passed him, shocking, costing us, a bit of closing up in the championship race.

If it is a fact, provide a link, otherwise I'm going to disregard your opinion.

Can't wait for Webber's view on being told to "maintain the gap". Guess the blue eyed boy needs all the help he can get.

Why provide a link? You can disregard all you like, however it doesn't waver from the fact that it's -

1. True

2. You would rather ignore it.

and

3. Can't accept it.

Case closed.

Need to say more about Ferrari?

About Vettel, i think he's on fuel saving mode but nevertheless brilliant driving.

Webber always ignores them anyway I think, he went for it.

Yeah, he's a true driver, he just follows himself. And he's as reckless at saying things as Hamilton is at driving  See Japan 2007 for more info.

The reporter just said Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro when he started the interview.

He didn't get the name change message.

While it is true that I am a Red Bull fan, I am first an foremost an Anti-Alonso-Fan fan. That is, a person who dislikes those who like Alonso. Ive said in previous threads, more than half of Alonso's wins in the last two seasons have come from situations beyond his, and anyone elses, control. Excluding his team orders win.

Team orders at Red Bull because Vettel's lead just isn't quite big enough:grumpy:

Disappointing result from a Brit point of view but a great race to watch.
Alonso snatched Vettels cigars as well as his lead.

After the race Alonso said "Fantastic race. Fantastic.". Didn't start to scream like a 6 year old girl after getting a new toy, as Vettel always does.
