I don't want to like the new Jetta because of how mass-produced it looks, but I actually kind of like it and that mass-poduced look at least means it has a mass-produced price tag, which is good

The Jetta is a nice-looking car in person, it just isn't as attractive as it used to be. The whole problem I have with the newest Jetta is that it all looks good, but it doesn't feel as good. For the $20K or so it takes to get a "nice" Jetta, you're able to get into a lot of other nice cars. The Ford Focus (MKII), Chevrolet Cruze and Mazda 3 all come to mind as good/better/best alternatives in the price range.

I wonder if this Jetta will drop transmissions on driveways.

My older brother's friend had a Jetta from 2002, and when he turned the car on, plop, the transmission fell from its holds.

The salesmen face was red when my brother's friend sarcastically told him "You forgot to mention the feature that drops the transmission on driveways."

Those were better days.:)
