I still can't believe how high they're running the rear of the RB7, it's got the same nose-down stance as a hot-rod. I wonder how effective it is, though, and how many teams will be trying it tomorrow.

It actually because of licensing. In the UK anyone with a TV has to pay a licence fee which the BBC use to make its content so if you don't pay for it in theory you shouldn't be allowed to watch it, also there are no adverts at all on the BBC. They are planning to make the iPlayer service available world wide for a fee which would be great for all you guys wanting to watch UK stuff (including live broadcasts) abroad.

I think the real issue is that tv broadcasters only have the license for their own countries. So BBC would have the rights for F1 in UK, but not in other countries.
 
Any way of finding out the DRS zone?

Edit: It's the pit straight.

Should have been the back straight in my opinion,because the pit straight will rule out overtaking on the final corner.

Sorry, I meant to say that having the DRS zone on the pit straight will rule out overtaking on the final corner. Come to think of it, it won't. Because the overtakes makes his move going in an gets away with the DRS coming out.
 
And also because drivers are perfectly capable of passing one another without using the DRS.
 
Practice should be streaming again tonight on Speed, and then it's Qualifying time :) woohoo!
 
There's no commentary for the streaming FP3 on Speed right? I'm going to have to check that out.

Leigh Diffey is one of my new favorite commentators. He did very well last night and his ALMS coverage is spot on. Anyone else notice Hobbs say Pastor Maldorado? :lol:
 
So that's what happened to Diffey. He used to be on Australian television, but then he disappeared. And now we're stuck with Greg "Australia's Mark Webber!" Rust and Cameron "I should have been an F1 driver, but I'm not, so I'm passive aggressive towards them" McConville.
 
So very, very true interludes. Aus has awful commentators. At least we get the BBC, who are biased (towards the Brits), but to a lesser degree then most international sport commentators
 
Australia has bad commentators in racing because the only real racing Autralia does is V8 supercars, but Australia cares more about Australian Football Leauge or National Rugby Leauge.

I'm very happy we have great commentators on SpeedTV here in the States. Formula 1 and motorsport in general is eclipsed by just about every other sport except soccer.

The times are starting to drop with 20m left. It was almost 20m before a single timed lap was set. I found that odd, but it's the first time I'm watching FP3 in a while.

edit: The skies look a little dark in some areas.

They were probably looking to see what the weather was doing.

Interesting to see that the Renault are consistently quick - even if they've just fallen out of the top ten - despite getting less laps done yesterday than one driver would have in a single session.
 
Will they ever use the qualify(red) tires?
 
P3 certainly isn't making it easy to predict who will be on pole.:lol:

Edit: I'm guessing HRT didn't put much effort into that session?

Ferrari looked faster than they were in Melbourne. Another two hours to go until qualifying. It's a late weekend and I'm needing some Red Bull to get through it. See what I did there? :sly:

Red Bull's holding back in my opinion. I expect Vettel to get a 1'35.XXX in qualifying.
They may be trying to conserve their engine. I do recall them having reliability problems late last season.

Nevertheless, Hamilton in a Red Bull chassis would eat up the competition.
 
Expect them to be low 35s or even a 34 if it's still dry and hot.;)
 
Well, as a Ferrari and Alonso Fan I have to say... the WDC seems to be over :(

They are atleast 1,5 seconds behind Red Bull and about 1-0,5 behind Mclaren. No way they will find that much time to challenge them for the championship.
 
Less than 50 minutes till Q1 begins.
 
Why all this Sauber praise on the BBC? They won't stop talking about Perez and the car itself. I mean, mid-field teams tend to change their form race by race. I wouldn't be surprised if they come last of the midteams, although I don't want it to happen because I like the team even if I'm complaining.

Perez does one race and 3 practice sessions, and here we are listneing to Eddie with footage of his driving being told he's a future star. After 5GP's I'll listen.
 
Well after watching him in GP2, Alex, I think he is a far greater prospect than Maldonado. Maldonado won the championship but Perez was more impressive and I rated him before the season started this year.
 
He had a good start and he does have potential. But seriously, they were talking about him going to Ferrari. One race!
 
It's not that extreme to think like that, especially considering the GP2 drive Jules Bianchi is being talked about with Ferrari and he hasn't even reached F1 yet.

And Esteban Guttierez is already Sauber's 3rd driver despite it only being his first year of GP2.
 
I know about Ferrari but it's the BBC talking about it that annoys me. At the present time it should only be Ferrari talking about it. He is likely to go there at the end of next year because of Ferrari Academy where they want to get there drivers from.
 
Ah, so glad we get live F1 streaming online now in Australia! When will Australians realise AFL doesn't compare to F1!?
 
Rain seems unlikely in this session.:(
