Well the dog-leg will actually have the same banking as turns 1-2 now so that has to make it at least a little faster, no?

If anything it would slow the cars down a little bit when they're racing side by side, but it may be faster if a car is running by itself.

Just had to post this.

Funniest NASCAR related (somewhat) commercial ever.

By the way, anyone that "Likes" PIR on their facebook will get to see almost daily updates as the track is under construction. 👍

Nice race for Danica today, best race of her NASCAR career. Oh and Kevin Conway should be banned from NASCAR.

Sorry if I spoiled it... Mark Martin won the Nationwide race at Las Vegas. However, Danica Patrick finished 4th at Vegas. Her 4th place finish is the best finish by a female driver in [the series now known as NASCAR] Nationwide.

Love or loathe Danica, at least admit she has at least SOME talent. The one thing I've learned about Danica is that she seems to do better on longer ovals than she does shorter ones. Where did she win in IndyCar? Motegi- a superspeedway. She's placed very well at Indy for the Indy 500. So I think if she's going to win in Nationwide, it may likely be on a long oval. The one concern is that she graduated from the old Toyota Atlantics series, which is predominantly road racing. Her road racing has been rather modest except for that one time at Belle Isle in IndyCar when she finished 2nd (if my history serves me well).

Matt Kenseth on pole for the Cup race at Vegas with 188.884 mph. Rest of the grid (2-10): Marcos Ambrose, Carl Edwards, Greg Biffle, Kyle Busch (hometown boy), Joey Logano, A.J. Allmendinger, Ryan Newman, Martin Truex Jr., and Mark Martin. Who you got winning Vegas in Cup?

Oh so close for Stewart. I was hoping the 2 would hold up Carl alot longer but 2nd is still good!

I missed the points standings who's leading now?

Tony Stewart joint leader with Kurt Busch.

Good win for Carl Edwards, kind of makes up for last weeks issues. Good runs for JPM and Marcos Ambrose too. I'll tell you something, I know we are just a few races in but I'm liking the new points system.

I saw most of the Cup race. Congrats to the Missouri boy on winning at Vegas. The Trucks get at each other at Darlington this Saturday as Cup and (Nationwide too?) get the week off next weekend. However, FOX will show that "Daytona 500: American Dream" special looking back at the 2011 Daytona 500.

So I don't forget- great runs by Juan Pablo Montoya and Marcos Ambrose for their lovely finishes. Good to see a Columbian and an Australian occupy the top 5 in the great American motorsport of NASCAR. I've always been a fan of JPM. I think he's overdue for a win in Cup on an oval. He's won the Indy 500 as well as a number of oval races in (then) CART. He WILL win on an oval one day/night.

Great to see a lot of the mid-pack guys running up front today. Shame to see the Furniture Row guys lose an engine as they were looking to have a great weekend after qualifying 12th and running in the top 10 during practice.

I'm PO'd Gordon wrecked. He should have better luck at Bristol, as he is good at the short tracks.

I'm always sad to see [Jeff] Gordon place poorly or wreck. That was a hard hit to the outside wall he took, too.

Typical tony stewart moment. Dominate the race just to get it taken away from you at the end because of something stupid. Sure beats when he had a flat tire on the last lap at charlotte a couple of years back.

Creative name- Too Tough to Tame 200. I mostly saw the end of this wreck-fest (not to say that's a bad thing at a track like Darlington). I think Kasey Khane won last night's race at Darlington.

No Cup or Nationwide this week. But next weekend- the daytime race at Bristol. Bristol is synonymous with action, and I'm pretty sure Bristol won't disappoint next weekend.

So let me get this straight. NASCAR implements the points rule to keep cup drivers from winning Nationwide or Truck championships, but it surely hasn't stopped them from racing in them.

Every Nationwide or Truck race this year has been won by a Cup driver, correct? I'm sorry but that's a bit ridiculous.

I can't wait. Unfortunately, we can't go due to my dad having to work all through the weekend. But, there's still the Coke 600!

As for the winner, my first instinct tells me Kyle Busch. But, I believe Tony Stewart will redeem himself from Las Vegas. He came very close last spring and had a great run going in the fall until getting run into under a caution.

Maybe NASCAR should implement a rule like the FIA has. No participating in races that are only 24 hours apart, but for NASCAR purposes they should do a one race per weekend rule.

Danica - Not completely talentless but pretty darn close. With the setup that Tony Jr put on her car at Vegas any one of us could have driven that car to a top 5. She's a sponsor's dream though because of all the media attention...she got more attention than the drivers who finished 2nd and 3rd, and just as much as the winner Mark Martin.

Trucks at Darlington - I agree, total wreckfest but was still entertaining :)

Cup drivers running other series - Yes they're still competing in them but they aren't being awarded points. While that's fine and dandy for the eventual series champion, it's possible for the champion every season to win and not win a race. I think this REALLY hurts younger up and coming drivers because they are never given a chance to lead/win races because the Cup drivers are in those positions.

I think this will be the last year of Cup drivers racing in lower series' on the scale it's currently at. For this year at least most drivers were under contract before the rule was announced so they had commitments to teams and sponsors.

I also think a lot of drivers are starting to realize that running full time in the Nationwide or Truck series really hurts their performance on the Cup side.

This week is Nationwide and Cup at Bristol. I've mentioned Danica a lot, and I don't think she'll fare too well at Bristol. Danica is just not a short track driver in my view. I've even seen her struggle at Richmond in IndyCar. She's just not a short track racer, so I'm not really expecting her to finish anywhere north of 16th.

Some drivers just aren't good at every track. If I was racing, I'd be better suited to superspeedways (excluding Daytona and Talladega) and road courses (at least from my EA Sports' NASCAR experience and my Sierra/Papyrus NASCAR game experiences). You still have to race hard regardless.

Having said this, best of luck to all racers at Bristol this weekend. Best of luck also to the many other racers in the other divisions of NASCAR racing this weekend or this week.
