Update! :D

Saturday: 10% chance of rain after 11AM, 30+mph winds
Saturday Night: 90% chance of rain, 45+mph winds.
Sunday: 30% chance of rain after 11AM.

Monday: Mostly Sunny. (go figure)

So looks like if Sunday get's rained out, they'll race on Monday. So, I can miss work with no pay and go to the race on Monday, or lose out on $25 since there are no ticket refunds. Guess we'll see come Sunday...

If it was me i'd stay for Monday if needed , work happens every day almost but Nascar Races are way more important 👍

Chance of showers for Sunday just jumped to 60% before 11am. Hopefully it rains itself out in the morning so they can get the track dry and get the race in Sunday. Good thing the track has lights. :)

Don't forget to take a Camera lots of Pics please 👍

Well the weather says 100% chance of rain tonight, then 50% chance before 11am tomorrow morning, making way to mostly sunny skies. So seems to me like it'll be done raining before or just after the sun comes up, then the rest of the day will be nice.

Definitely taking my camera. :)

This shall be epic....

Stewart to drive F1 car in exhibition: Barring an unforeseen scheduling hiccup, two-time NASCAR champion Tony Stewart and 2008 Formula 1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton will swap racecars in an exhibition later this year, Stewart-Haas Racing spokesman Mike Arning confirmed Saturday. The seat swap comes at the hands of Mobil 1, a mutual sponsor for the two drivers, and is expected to take place at Watkins Glen International sometime during the summer. The cars involved will not be show cars. They will be legitimate race-prepared machines. Hamilton will man Stewart's road course ready # 14 Chevy, and Stewart will drive Hamilton's 2010-model F1 McClaren. The respective drivers' race teams will travel with them to the event to tune the cars

Although, not sure if Tony will be able to actually squeeze into the car.

Yes, I believe Hamilton had previously expressed some interest in participating in NASCAR eventually. OR, at least wouldn't rule it out like others have.

I didn't mind the 2 car draft, sure it made starts/restarts a tad less exciting but it reduced the period where the cars just form 1 line for 50 or so laps like normally happens.

Phoenix will be the real test to see who the contenders are, hopefully Newman can repeat.

Agreed. Phoenix is going to shine a light on the true drivers in contention this year, at least for the beginning of the season. I usually find the shorter tracks to be more interesting.

Woke up to Sun shining through my blinds after it rained all night. Good sign. :D

I'm off to the race here shortly. Pics to come!

I love the Phoenix races, hoping for the Biff to pull through and get the Roush account balance opened up today :)

Congratulations to (the 2011 Subway Fit Fresh 500 winner)! Great drive, mate!

I found a couple of things particularly notable from the race. One was that Gordon's car was the best in the field despite the crash with Edwards; if you watch the replay of the incident, his impact with the wall was not at all insignificant. This resistance to damage seemed to hold true for Busch, Harvick, and some others, too. It's one thing for the cars to remain adequately competitive in that 15th-place sort of way, and it's quite another for them to remain of race-winning quality. Actually, I was also surprised at how violent some of the crashes seemed despite the short length of this course - Bayne, Edwards, McMurray, Vickers, Kvapil, and a few other drivers in that pileup.

The other thing I noticed was how little Kyle Busch seemed to mind being moved out of the way by Gordon in turn 4 and then pushed up the track in turn 1 as Gordon overdrove it (pass, interview). I expected him at least to say something about how Jeff got a little bit too fixated on winning and started driving over his head or unnecessarily roughly, but he didn't even mention it in the interview and instead talked about how he was just beaten fairly by the faster car and driver. He was extremely positive in general, even saying that it was cool to see the guys from his old Hendrick team win again.

Anyway, congratulations to Jeff for breaking the winless streak. I can't believe that it had been nearly two years since he last one, given how competitive he's clearly been in that time.

What a race! Two of my fantasy picks taken out in wrecks, but what a day for Jeff! Finally having the fastest car pays off this time. I took pics and video, but from where we were seated they didn't turn out that great. Will have to go back in the fall and sit on the hillside. Grandstands just aren't for me, too cramped!

Way to go Jeff! This just goes to show Earnhardt Jr's Martins cars were always capable of winning. What besides the man behind the wheel changed so much? Maybe it's just what HMS wanted to do, because it's obviously paid off for them even if in a small bit. The whole season is left to go, but it would be awesome if Jeff could stick it to Jimmy.

Happy to hear about the Hamilton/Stewart swap. I wonder how Tony will do in the open wheeler, seeing as how the last time he was racing them full time was the late 90's. How funny would it be if Hamilton defected to Nascar as well? I can't really say anything about if it would happen or not, because I have no idea. Obviously, JPM and Piquet Jr have moved that direction. Can we steal another?

Edit: Duh

YEAH! It took 67 races but he finally won!

Go Jeff Gordon!

Another good race. Happy to see Jeff win again, Hopefully this momentum continues and Jimmie won't be the only 5-time champ in the field next season.

Let me tell you- I am CERTAINLY proud of Jeff Gordon. He's been off the map by not winning in a long while, but he is very far from insignificant. I never stopped believing in the #24 Chevy. At best, I think Jeff Gordon will probably win a few more races and perhaps be solidly third all-time in NASCAR Cup wins. I mean... Jeff Gordon is a future Hall of Famer. I am greatly proud of Jeff Gordon on this win. I hope he gets something going and really go back to being that true power in Cup.

Welcome home (Victory Lane), Jeff Gordon!

What a enjoyable race yesterday. Well done to Jeff Gordon on his victory, after last season where he could have got a number of wins, this victory was due. I think this Alan Gustafson/Jeff Gordon is really turning out to be a good change up by Rick Hendrick.

Maybe this new layout will be easier on the brakes? I think the cars will he carrying less speed into 3.

Looking at the diagram the changes being made don't look to be as drastic as I once thought, I figured they would be raising the banking closer to 20* and shortening the overall distance to around 7/8 mile (similar to old Nazareth speedway).

Well the dog-leg will actually have the same banking as turns 1-2 now so that has to make it at least a little faster, no?

Eliot Sadler was saying it looks like they might have to lift more for the dog leg. I'm anxious to see what it's like. They should use plates at this track. I say 200hp would be perfect.
