""I just think it could have been handled better. If somebody is going to screw you, you'd like them to say it to your face you know? - JG

That's what she said.:p

(Sorry, I just had to)

The whole situation reminds me of Cartman in the Human Centipad episode of South Park where he keeps saying his mom 🤬 him.

I don't like it either, it's stupid really, the idea of the bigger restrictor plate from what I read on nascar.com was suppose to fix this tandem style racing. Jr. was hopeful it'd go back to the old format where you'd have two or three trains of cars, and a single driver could pull out and use the side draft to slingshot from 3rd, 4th, or 5th all the way to first. Things that were common place when we saw Jr. race at Daytona or Dega with DEI. Maybe the fuel injected cars next year will be different.

Unfortunately from what I read about the EFI test at Talladega Thursday, the 2-car tandem racing is still the fastest way to go. 👎 :grumpy: :yuck: Nascar better figure out something fast before they lose their loyal fan base forever.

If there was some way to cut power when the bumpers are kept together...

The 2 car draft is a result of the new car, front and back bumpers line up perfectly. You would have seen this with the old car of the bumpers lined up.

Unless they go back to the old car, get used to the 2 car thing. I for one love it and think its way better than the old 2-3 wide follow-the-leader train.

Another great quote from the Jeff Gordon Facebook:

I'll respond to Gordon with this, in my Arrrnold voice:

Stop whining!

Yes, Gordon got hosed but he should have know that the possibility existed that the deal could have been broken. Complain about the quality of the racing that forces these type of deals to occur in the first place because guess what? It's likely going to happen to you again next time if you're in a similar situation next time.

(Note: I'm attacking Gordon, not you, RT)

As for solutions, I don't see any working without a redesign of the rear of the car. I know that means more cost but as long as the bumpers are aligned, the bumping will go on and racing like below will be no more. 👎

Nationwide and truck bumpers don't line up, but they do it as well. It's a product of aerodynamics.

The cars punch a hole in the air just large enough for a second car to fit in, thus essentially doubling the power with minimal drag increase. This is why more than two cars hasn't proven to be as fast.

Thanks for telling me it's good to know that I shouldn't get my hopes up.

That kind of racing died when Daytona got repaved. Even if the bumpers get reshaped, the Nationwide COTs and the Trucks have both proven the 2-car draft will happen without properly lined bumpers. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if ARCA, the last piece of old NASCAR left, started having the 2-car tango too. Its a product of the track, not the cars.

Some of their answers had me crackin me up. I loved Tony's blank reaction when they first asked him

In the garage. Wow. Potential championship losing moment.

You said it. Wow.. didn't expect that. Can Tony Knock the Champ out? Literally? The fun... has BEGUN. :D Nice job Tony Stewart!!! :D

Junior was already inside, I'm thinking Denny really didn't know he was there. But I still wouldn't care.

Who here thinks that the championship is decided?

Oh hell no... this isn't over yet. Kenseth won at Texas earlier this year... Stewart won at Chicagoland and Loudon... Jimmie won at Kansas... and he's not done guys. Gordon at the old Phoenix configuration.... Can't wait til next Sunday at Texas.

Not by a long shot. Stewart is just 8 points back of Edwards with 3 to go. I think everyone from the 48 and above still have a chance.

There's no way in hell that Johnson (sixth, -43) or Kenseth (fifth, -36) is going to win the championship this year. Honestly, only Harvick and Stewart have a plausible path to overtake Edwards. With just three races left, it's far too difficult to make up a large deficit with several good teams in front of you. I mean, think about the arithmetic: realistically, Edwards AND Stewart AND Harvick would all have to have a very poor result somewhere amongst the final three races, all while Johnson and Kenseth reel off three top-fives. Are you comfortable projecting all three of the top drivers in the current standings to have a disaster race? I'm certainly not. If it helps, consider that by my math, a 43 point deficit is approximately equivalent to 146 points under the old system (and 36 is 122). That's a lot to ask in three races.
