Still watching the SPEED stream - they have to keep explaining who the sponsors are and who their American equivalents would be because that's how the commentators are identifying the cars.

Watching it on Speed Channel. It is somewhat surreal that the V8 Supercars' popularity in the United States would lend itself to LIVE coverage of this event. I mean... I'm almost as excited to see this race tonight as I am in seeing Le Mans every year. These cars will race here in the state of Texas in a few years, but damn- I'm jacked seeing this race live!

The Joy/D.W. commenting is pretty okay. Kind of critiquing everything. So these are the only two miscues so far: Darrell Waltrip... DO NOT say "Boogity, boogity, boogity!" to any race that isn't a NASCAR race. Also, the "red tiger" of Holden? Holden's a red LION. Otherwise, Mike Joy, Leigh Diffey, and Calvin Fish are clean.

Alternator issue for Whincup in the 88, they might have to start switching stuff off.

SVG dropped fifth place :\

Whincup is suffering from alternator problems which explains his recent lack of pace. A shame for him but I hope that helps Lowndes get into the lead just to tighten up the championship fight a little bit more! And bring on the rain, which should be just around the corner and incidentally the next round of pitstops should be coming up too which could make things a little interesting!

Well it's a cracking race! Speaking of Texas, I have a trip planned to see F1 there in Austin. :sly:

Another car beached at Murray's, safety car again! Tander's frustrated with Lowndes for backing off to avoid queuing behind his team mate as much as possible.

Watching it on SPEED right now, kind of lost because I don't know who any of the drivers/teams are.

I guess I need to watch more V8 Supercar races year round to solve that problem 👍

Personally, I'd perfer is SPEED used the Australian announcers for the broadcast, and have DW and Mike Joy there as side commentators to explain what's going on, sort of how like for NASCAR races how they have the main announcers, a pit studio, and then the pit road analysts.

Looking quite precarious across the top of the mountain, it's definitely getting wetter by the minute :D

Just not wet enough yet! Just need a little bit more rain to mix things up a bit. :D

Applause to Steven Johnsons, started basically in the pits, and now is in the top ten.

Rear end crash, huge fire. Fire is out now.

Jeez, hope Besnard is alright! An odd crash, you wouldn't usually see the rear tyres lock up so much at that corner.

I was just looking at my TV remote, to find out how to have double screen, have a look at the TV screen and, FIRE.
Just after a stop as well, so tank would be pretty full.

They've just found out that they might of not replaced the brake pads, so that could of been why the car didn't have the best possible brakes.

What was probably going through Besnard's head:

Whoaaaaaaaaah-ouch-I hope nobody hits me-oh crap FIRE

Glad he got out OK, that looked nasty!

Reason number 2 on why the Fuel cell should be inside the cabin protected by the Rollcage. Glad he got out safely and very well done job to the marshalls for standing in the middle of the blaze putting it out.

The debris left over from the crash should seriously effect the racing, I'd say. Quarry is probably the easiest and main overtaking spot on the track so it's going to make any passes up there pretty risky.

I believe that's the way some teams have actually done it, but I guess that's not the case with DJR.

Steve Owen doing his best to turn the Chase into a minefield, lol.

van Gisbergen up to 16th, come on lad!

I thought they had already put that into force, after the Adelaide impact?
