what a great race .
Hoping this continues the rest of the year.
Good points for Willian's and kinda sad for Schumi would've liked to see where he ended up.

After last year, I was hoping I'd never hear the German national anthem again. But hey, what do you know.. :D

Nice race from Rosberg and the Mclaren boys, a bit disapointed with Kimi, Grosjean did a far better race than him. I would have hope for a better race pace from the Sauber guys. Great race from Webber, finishing in front of Vettel again.

Let's hope the season continue like this, 3 GP 3 winner, that's cool :D

But it was even worse when they played the Austrian one after, it took like 15 minutes at every podium.

(Damnit: This was supposed to be a new post... went in as a post edit instead!

Race recap:

1st: Nico Rosberg, first ever win. First win for Mercedes GP. First win for a Mercedes team since 1955. Amazing tire management, amazing race pace, amazing strategy. Even Michael Schumacher looks tremendously happy there in the pit garage. This is vindication for the Brawn Mercedes GP team, and proof that all the work and new hires have done the job.

2nd: Jenson Button, bad luck there... he could have been challenging for a win, but he should be very happy with that hard-fought second.

3rd: Lewis Hamilton, got held up a huge number of times, and had to do the most work of anyone up on the podium, with a zillion overtakes throughout the race. Good recovery to a bad situation due to the gearbox issue.

4th: Mark Webber. The Aussie picked the right strategy at the right time and makes some much needed points.

5th: Sebastian Vettel: Another good recovery to a bad situation. He managed to hang on to the tires on a two stopper longer than seems humanly possible.

6th: Romain Grosjean: Rounds up the top six. Good performance for him. Too bad about Kimi, but that two-stopper gamble was a disaster for the Finn.

7th & 8th: Senna and Maldonado: Williams has a great race... good package, not a front-runner, but good package... very scrappy seventh and eight.

9th: Fernando Alonso: Fantastic work to end up right where he started. Had to battle a hell of a lot to keep that Ferrari in the points.

10th: Kamui Kobayashi: Just edges out Perez to put his Sauber in the points. Great battle between the two all race long. But Sauber would dearly love to be ahead of Alonso and the Williams, given how strong the car has looked all weekend.

Nobody else matters.

O-kay...

Things that I have seen in this race.

The car that kills it's tyres winning on a 2 stop strategy.
Button and Perez locking their tyres.
Fastest laps (at the time) for Vergne and Maldonado.

How did that happen?

Congrats to Nico on the win.

Oh, and Alonso hounding faster cars in front reminds me of this quote from Alan Jones.

[just after having passed Gilles for the lead] "I've done it, and once I was into the lead I built up a bit of a cushion. But as soon as I backed off a fraction there was that bloody red ****-box in my mirrors again ! Villeneuve was unbelievable like that - I mean, he never gave up.
Substitute Villeneuve for Alonso, and Jones for Hamilton, and you've got it.

Well done Britney! :p

I'm looking forward to Schumacher's reaction on the f1slate.

Am I the only one worried by Force India's anonymity? They only seem to be on the TV when they're being overtaken.

What a disaster for Kimi. I was hoping he'd defend 2nd by the skin of his teeth but tyres got thrown down the cliff and 2nd to 12th in one lap. :(

Fantastic result! I'm so happy to see Nico finally break through to get his first F1 victory! I believe that up until this point he had the highest collection of career points with no win. As a McLaren fan, I'm happy to see both cars on the podium and while Lewis still hasn't won yet this year, he's looking very good for the championship if he keeps up this consistency. 👍

Fantastic result for Rosburg, really happy that he won. Great performance by Red Bull too, Vettel showing he does has some bite when stuck in the midfield.

My fantasy points on the other hand...

Fantastic late race battles in the midfield... all these GP2 drivers really know how to party.

Next season, let's see some Touring Car drivers in, too... so we can have a little more wheel banging... :D
