If he can make these tyres last he can get some serious points, everyone has to pit he doesn't, tyre wear permitting.

He wasn't. Mark had to slow down drastically due to Hamilton's erratic driving and a combination of that and the low visibility contributed to the smash. Hence, Vettel's penalty was revoked.

Secondly, while I do admire Mark for continuing, that has absolutely nothing to do with the discussion.
 
Mmmm... VERY dodgy move from Vettel there... he just went completely off the track to pass Grosjean... unluckily for him, the live shot was from the aerial camera!! :lol:

It was always going to be a struggle from pitlane, but I'll give him credit. Didn't expect to see him up to P12 that early. Shame about the damage.

Vettel should hit P7 - P9 before the end of the race. Given the relative paces of everyone ahead of him, that's about as good as he can get, barring a retirement from anyone in the top six.

Also helping him is how tight the midfield is. With guys bunched up like that, he can pick people off more easily.

EDIT: See, he did that on purpose, just to show he could pass Grosjean twice.
 
You've got to give Vettel credit, he certainly is going balls out here, not the cleanest of races so far but he is giving it some effort.👍

Yup. They should give him a proper setup more often rather than setting the car up to lead from the start, which I believe has hampered him when he's in the thick of it.
 
Looks like the most overtaking award for this race goes to Vettel. :lol:

I think they should get rid of those floodlights and the teams should have to put lights on the cars... I clearly watch too much endurance racing.
 
God job by Vettel, but I think he'll start to slow down once he reaches P12.
